I'd have given that a bash too, good wee bit of maintenance/modification that... difference is that I'd have pricked my finger more than 5 times within 90secs, started to swear within 3 mins, literally have given it a bash within 7 mins and stomped off in a temper. [] Cheers, Grant -

Hopefully be able to improve that a wee bit when I eventually give the car a couple of mods and a re-map from Mr Forrest, but pretty chuffed considering its pretty much the way it came from the factory!! [H] Cheers, Grant

I've had 4 Classics and this is my first Newage. To be honest, I actually quite like my Hawkeye... [] Haha, in comparison to my MY99 with Prodrive Handling Pack, couple of Whiteline bits and Geometry set-up I'd say that my current STi would beat it around the bends on pace.. probably doesn't have quite as much feedback as the Classic did but its really minimal, and I've still got to fit all the Whiteline goodies to the STi, which should make a bit of a difference. [] The big plus for me with the Newage is that I'm not targeted/pigeon holed by the fuzz, the local scum dont think we're pals/racing buddies cause we drive the 'same' car and I've got a whole wall of torque/bhp that I can use as much as I want as I'm covered under warranty and not thinking in the back of my mind, how much a new short block/turbo would cost me if things go t!ts up. Respect to Falkland Performance in Glenrothes
RS Grant replied to RS Grant's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Only have their phone number handy at the moment, but I'm sure their website will be along the lines of falklandperformance.co.uk or a similar type idea. (01592) 773 677 Hope that helps mate.. well recommended. [H] Cheers, Grant -
After a personal recommendation from Aberdeen's Mr Mac, I took the STi down to them to get my Geometry done and the car is noticeably more stable around the bends now.. the speeds/g-forces created are truely amazing. Its not the Prodrive Settings, but I got their Fast Road Settings which are a big improvement over standard but are a little more gentle on tyres than the Prodrive stuff. [H] Great bunch of guys and reasonable pricing too. [] Cheers, Grant

Hmmmm, Alford... Never crossed my mind, might take a wee trip up there instead, specially now I've seen the weather forecast!! Cheers, Grant

I am really really happy for you mate... its been a long time coming. Enjoy it and invest in a Road Angel if you haven't already!! [] Cheers, Grant

Yea, saw it just off the Broxden on Tuesday night... Big fan of it, looks minted too. [H] Cheers, Grant

.....I'm gonna take a wee trip to Crail this Sunday. Its on the 5th August and its going to be a regular Thrash which should mean decent track time and a minimal amount of neds hanging around the place. [H] RS Grant I'm hoping that the good weather holds out for this, think its meant to stay nice all week. Cheers, Grant

If its going to be your runner... then I'd point you towards a V7 STi which comes with the stronger bottom end and 6-sp box in it. IMO, a Type-R is great as a toy, but potential for £££ bills is higher than the newer Scoob STi models. If you arent a fan of the Bugeyes, then save up another couple of grand and buy a V8 STi for about 12k mate. Its best not to rush into anything, look at a LOT of cars before deciding on one as it'll be easier to gauge what is/isnt a dog if you've got lots to compare. Cheers, Grant

Meant to be pretty poor weather up there today......... and it was £15 (per person) to get in, and another £15 to race. [] Cheers, Grant
-
Been told its £15 to get in per person tomorrow..... which, IMO, is WAY too much for Crail. Was probably going to head up before I heard that. [:@] Cheers, Grant

Wheels look like they belong on a Vectra and still not a huge fan of the new shape.. the bonnet is a mess, looks very 'max power' with the large scoop and twin vents. young-buck, nice avatar mate. [] Cheers, Grant

I was lucky enough to get a blast in this car tonight and........ jeeeeeeeeeesus chriiiiiiiiiiist, it flies. A very impressive and properly fast Impreza, the boost is amazing, really flings you back in the seat and snaps your neck with the G-force, just flies through the ratios. Absolutely awesome machine in every way, no question about it. Congrats mate, its a monster, cant even imagine what it'll be like when you tinker further.[H][H][H] Cheers, Grant

Well after he fitted the big turbo, front mount intercooler and 100bhp nitrous kit the car was awesome up the strip at Crail and Trackdays @ Knockhill but he didn't enjoy the drive of the car any longer day to day back and forward to work.. so took the mods off and traded it in against a new car. Hehehe, nah, not really.. [] He never really got to grips with the car and felt it was a bit toooo much for him, so chopped it in for a brand new Civic Type-R after 3 weeks. Cheers, Grant

Hmmmm, dont get banned for speeding under Scottish Law?! Wish that was the case!! Haha!! [] I got banned for 103 in a 70... 33mph over the limit, on an empty motorway in the middle of nowhere with perfect driving conditions and the traffic coppers were also nice and said that it wasnt wreckless/dangerous and that it was just too much for a fixed penalty. I'll be very surprised if you get away without a ban for 40mph over the limit in a 50mph section of road buddy. Cheers, Grant

Thats my mates old Spec-D!! Good to see its staying in the club. [H][] Cheers, Grant

You sounded like a happy South African when you gave me a call yesterday evening mate.. and I can see why, great power from the WRX and its still only a 2.0, brilliant. [H] Cheers, Grant
-
Depends on what the coppers report ACTUALLY says.. and not what they told you. I'd be expecting a ban of 3 months and a 400quid fine, anything lighter than that and I think you'd be doing well mate. Best of luck to you. Cheers, Grant

Thanks for the comments on the car and changes I've done.. Wasn't expecting a totally positive reaction to the lack of rear spoiler!! [] The front end was meant to be a bit like the M3 CSL or Tommi Makkinen Evo 6.5 come as standard with the moulded cold air intake, which I tried to make look as factory as possible using the OE foglight cover with the light unit removed. [H] Mac, they are Lexus-STYLE Rear Lights, a'la Halfrauds/Max Flower styling.. not the genuine article unfortunately. Haha.[] I've got a couple of ideas about how to change the look of them as well though, so when the mood/cash/time becomes right, I'll put those plans into action. Cheers, Grant
-
Yea, thats the look I wanted with my grill.. but I rushed mine just to see if I liked it or not, which I do. What did you use, cause that looks a LOT better finished than mine?! Haha!! [] Cheers, Grant

Luvly Night so I thought I would take some Pics

Massive fan of Black Classics... specially when they're in such good condition as yours, looks mint mate. [H] Cheers, Grant -
Well, I'm really happy performance/sound wise with the car.. so that side of things is staying the way it is for a while. But I always had a couple of wee styling tweeks that I wanted to try out in an effort to make my car a wee bit more individual and different from the 'norm' around here...... I'm sure a few people wont be too big a fan of what I've done, but I like it and thats the main thing!! [][] The wee changes I've made are: - Type RA-R Style Grill Trim (Only done with red tape at present & if I decide if its staying then it'll be getting painted) - Cold Air Feed & STi Foglight Cover rather than the standard Front Foglights - Rear Spoiler removal, I really like the clean look and the most I'll be doing is fitting a JDM A-Line Rear Lip, but seriously considering going without completely. [H] Anyway, here are some pictures of the car after I washed the outside & engine bay (to remove wax coating) this afternoon: Glad to hear people's comments, both good and bad. [] Cheers, Grant
