I would start at a low duty and increase it until you hit your target boost pressure....
-
You'll find this size alright then! [] []
-
Always wondered how you did that 4hero! Cool, thanks! []

Here's samples of different file sizes.. The original was "1600x1200". Re-size your photos to suit and save them on your desktop, so that you keep the original as was and is easy to find if you use a host to upload pics. I'd say best size for most is "800x600" as you can see the detail without being too big for most monitors especially things like rolling road graphs etc. I hate it when pics are posted too large cause you have to scroll to read replies. I use www.tinypic.com for hosting pics cause you don't need to register to use, just browse your computer and let them host it. "640x480" "800x600" "1024x768"

Younger.... []

Don't be shy in doing it Craig. You need to get proper heat in them. (You'll soon know when you put your hand on to check)
-
Do a few high speed repeated hard braking, say two or three of those, then check you've got a load of heat in the tyres after stopping. This should be enough to scrub the initial coating on them.

LOL. It was a girl.

Hello Alan-G Are you a clone? [] Our first child was born 1 year 1 month ago.... Don't want the fire bit though...... Welcome to a completely different world of car ownership. []

20g at 1.4/1.5 bar boost, 740's, adjustable fpr, 3" exhaust system. Octane booster i.e. NF or methanol, PFR7B's As for engine, it all depends how good an engine it is in the first place. 50K is a fair amount, but if it's a good 'un, shouldn't be too much of a problem.

It's quite strange Frank isn't it? It doesn't seem right the way it accelerates now. It's like a car shouldn't go like this!! [], it's not meant to do that!! Need to get you back out wilky to see what you think. It's moved on a fair but since i last took you out. [] but as i said above, that's it, no more tuning on this engine. [] I'd like to have a quick word if possible wilky over something we spoke about a few weeks ago. I'll PM you and take it from there. fai17 Any word on what happened at Crail with yours?

Hi Frank Was good to meet up. Hope i made the long journey through worthwhile. This is as far as i'm taking this engine now. Most bits are close to or at their maximum, so is a good reason not to spend more money chasing something i can't really use to great effect on the road anymore. It's really moved on in performance terms in the last couple of weeks after Andy put his skills into my map, but i'd like to try a different engine next time. 2.5 has been fun but, with present knowledge i don't think i'm far from its' limits, so i'd like to try the tried and tested CDB route if i had the funds. "how bad are my lights lol " The standard lights are really poor aren't they for a performance car! Now you know why i bought HID's !! lol []

I'd be thinking more along the likes of Kelly Brook, but whatever floats your boat. []

One of the problems with too big a size injector is atomisation at low revs. You could probably get away with on 850's but why bother. You will have better control over the whole rpm range if you size injectors to suit your application. In your case 550's. If you're buying 850's cause they are cheap, i'd advise to run a higher fuel pressure than what you run just now, just to get good atomisation (in other words not the std FPR) You may find you can't get the fuelling just perfect at low rpm but a best as can do, cause there isn't enough flexibility in the GEMS to do so. e.g. at low rpm you might have a lean mixture at for example 1300rpm. If you increase fuelling by even one point, you may then have a rich mixture at that point and that's because the injectors are too big and you can't get fine enough tuning at these zones. Talk to Steve Simpson as he has been mapping your car and will be better placed to advise, though i think he'll recommend running injectors to suit the spec.
-
Drop me an E-mail and we'll take it from there. Fuelling will depend on how far you want to take your engine and as you say, there are a couple of ways to do it. Not all of them straightforward, so you need to think what you're aiming for before commiting both time (grief!) and money on alternatives.

Yes, methanol

Minimise tyre distortion on the rollers which can affect readings.

"Out of interest does your boost not peak at 26 psi, ie 1.8 bar?" Fcukin 'ell. My eyesight must be really bad. lol I can't make anything out of those graphs! They're tiny! [] From what i can make out the torque rises steep as Everest! []
-
I'm still waiting to get taken out in the falcon or even see it. [] His mapper also highly praised this very car saying it made him rethink the potential of the 2 litre engine. Nice one. []

"Don't know if you are any older than me Alan - you certainly don't look it " LOL. [] "I've been in continual Impreza ownership since Feb 97" Is that how long you've had the green one?
-
3. Definitely not Scott. He's a Clydebank man. Think that's drb5's mate. [] Now we're thinkin' about it, i must be the oldest Impreza owner here both in terms of age and in Impreza ownership. Anyone had their scoob longer than early '99? (7 years?)

The guy who was a dentist/doctor who had BIG power. John Banks? Another guy who was always with him above. John Harley? (T-uk) The guy from cumbernauld with the mega loud silver classic. (feck knows) Zander with the rb5 (ditto) The older chap with the long white straggly hair? Steve Gatens? (sg72) A strange looking guy with a white wagon and funny complexion? LOL!

Ran the car this morning with V-power and meth. Does seem to be smoother as it revs from 2-4000rpm where my car isn't doing a lot in terms of boost but is where most of your driving is done. Without datalogging i can't tell if there is any actual improvement in terms of performance, but initial reaction is that the engine is happier with V-power over Optimax. Thumbs up so far.. []
-
I've just emptied my tank of 97 + 1ml NF and trying out Optimax + meth. Was hoping to run V-power + meth for a few days to "flush through" the system before filling up for next week. What shift are you on this week JohnSt if i need to take up your offer?
-
Thanks guys. What i need to be sure of is that the tanks are clear of Optimax for definite, so sites which have a high fuel turnover are what i'm looking for. The Cumbernauld one is a bit out the way (unless i'm passing by) but always seems to be a busy station, so looking promising, as does Hillington. Do all the stations mentioned above have the advertising in place?
