  1. I was over on Tuesday and Duncan was telling me how nice your engine is now John. I was getting a service and timing belt and cam cover gasket replacement. Not the most exciting work, nor the cheapest, but had to be done. Car is now running very well indeed. Service was as always excellent. Lovely bunch of people.
  2. I believe a 01-05 WRX (the 2.0) fits into the new K band at £300. Not sure of the numbers for the other models. If anyone has their spec sheets to hand post up the figures and get it worked out.
  3. Just been doing some research. Numbers on the 08 models suggest the WRX and the STI both fall below the 255 g per km mark, which means they'll avoid this new tax hike. Can't get a definite on the earlier models, but think they're also below that. It's not by more than a bawhair though, so if they lower that number next year by even 10 or 15g we'll be screwed! Petrol duty increase been postponed a few months too. But OPEC are still pumping us (pardon the pun) something awful anyway. What's another 2p in the equation when we're already paying so much.
  4. Scott and indeed Rosie - two more thoroughly nice people who went above and beyond for the SIDC you'll just not meet. I know when I took on my role you were there to lend a hand and we had some good ideas that we never pursued. I wish you all the best in the future, and hopefully see you at some of the meets. PS - you're not finished with Knockhill. Not by a long shot.
  5. John, I think you need the black bits like the original. Also - DC, not D+G for the camo! Wonder what Dolce and Gabana would do with a scooby?
  6. It's chewing gum for the eyes. Not all entertainment requires deep meaning and substance. It's got some pretty cars. Some pretty girls. It sounds and looks impressive. I can think of much less entertaining ways to spend 90 minutes.
  7. Anyone who watches the fast and the furious for the story needs their head looked.
  8. Both tanks John! You might even be able to get a lap of the ring with that arrangement! Looking forward to seeing it in action at the events. Hopefully I'll be at most of them in my role as junior trainee spanner monkey for haventgotascooby racing. I better tell him I've given his car a team name.
  9. John - he's entering a westfield megablade. It goes well at Knockhill, and it ran some good times at a sprint round ingliston last year. It is currently undergoing some front suspension surgery to hopefully improve it more for this year. Although he's having to stop watching the Doune videos on youtube. Feck me it's tight.
  10. Goes without saying. Have you considered something of this ilk before you set off on a mild-speed run - http://www.jegs.com/i/Simpson/856/42020BK/10002/-1
  11. Month and a bit left until Doune John. Will it be ready? I appear to be support crew for my mate as he's only gone and filled in the forms and sent his entry away.
  12. He'll not be making many passes at the Admiral's daughter though. Surely we'll not be seeing your car out this year Colin? It's been AGES.
  13. http://www.scoobyblog.com/2008-03-05/markk...new-impreza-wrc Looks pretty good in wideboy mode!
  14. Cal - cheap wagon. Then strip the rex right down to front seats and frick all alse. Big GT wing, canards at the front, and crank the camber up. Swap in a race motor too. The wife would LOVE that.
  15. By heck Paul. She's a beaut. 14 out of 10 mate.
  16. Michael Schumacher is not up to much just now Jim.
  17. Wipers and or the fact that the seals on the pillarless doors are piss poor. Try putting the window slightly down then back up again if you hear it. I certainly had the same buzzing noises on the Autobahn. Although high speed journeys in this country are usually accompanied by NEEE NAWWWW NEEE NAWWWW. That's to be expected.
  18. I'd have said that the reason some people might bully the smaller car is because they can. Simple as that. Why do bullys at school tend to be big and their victims small. Same reason I'd say. Nicola has a wee Daewoo Matiz and I notice just how different a world you are in when on the roads with it. I think the fabled "christian motoring" that James May preaches is perhaps something that society needs.
  19. I'll be the first to say it then Gus: it's not for me. Not knowing the full scenario but I'd have though the money spent on mods could have been used to fund the fuel and purchase price of something a bit turbo! I think it looks okay and everything, but I think there's some finer cars out there in the wagon department than the NA leggys. But as long as you're happy then who gives a **** what the rest of us think!
  20. The DC camo ones are cool, but I bet they're not cheap. I'm sure a guy down in England has done it though. The aforementioned, but sadly no longer available that I can see, trainers:
  21. What about something a bit Japanese John? Edit: can't get this one to show on the page, but the link is: http://images.importtuner.com/events/0709_...aru_impreza.jpg You might need to visit the article actually - http://www.importtuner.com/events/0709_imp...a/photo_04.html
  22. John, the black no fear car Colin drove in 07 might work on WR Blue. It appeared in two slightly different guises: The DC Shoes ones marky talks about were also from the Vermont Sportscar stable. There's been a few different schemes they've done, some for the Gumball and one Ken Block drove on the one lap of America. The Gumball cars are here - http://www.vtcar.com/gallery/gumball/shoot01.htm - interestingly they did a line of shoes to commemorate them but they sold out before I could find any. The one lap of America car: That one for me is by far the coolest, but you'd need a white base for it.
  23. John, Pastrana's Red bull/Subaru America scheme is nice too. That's the sister Subaru of America/Vermont Sportscar Impreza to Block's monster energy sponsored one.
  24. Guantanamo Bay is nice this time of year. Orange is the colour of choice.
  25. I was once lead down a road (when trying to find a shell station) that Tomtom thought had a bridge or level crossing across a railway. When I came down the road I quickly realied that the only way across the railway would be to build some sort of jump or use Knight rider style boost + jump. The ramp turned out to be great fun
