Driving down on the Sunday morning and back the same day.

Two common issues that can cause these symptoms...... Cat issues - it can colapse for want of a better word and block the flow. Sounds the most likely given you exhaust noises. Circlip - the circlip that connects the wastegate to the actuator can comeoff leaving you running no boost. Very easy to check. Boost leak would almost certainly leave you with ,massive overfuelling, clouds of black smoke and a very poorly engine if you're still running a maf.

I can see what you're getting at. I had more fun driving my 106 gti,at far lower speeds, than I've ever had in the Subaru. Think it was because the limits were far easier to reach and if things went a bit wrong you weren't foing silly speeds when it happens.

Check the pulleys come into line if the heads have been off. More than likely a connection problem though. Pullall thrplugs off and make sure they snapback in and make sure you haven't missed any (it happens). If problem persists do the usual checks for fuel, spark, compression etc.

Sorry to heat that Kenny. Get prices from RCM, ZEN, Lateral and SW then make up your mind where togo. Start a project thread, keep it up to date and everyone can chip in with advice if needed.

Indeed it was. A dark metalic blue, not as dark as mica blue but darker and more metalic than wrc blue.

I'd have the audi also if given the choice but that wasn't my point. My point was he brought a knife (a bloody big one mind you) to a gun fight.
-
With 1985 Kg dry weight the deck was stacked in my favour. High boost map would have just been cruel.

Defo an RS, clocked the badge as he pulled ahead and then again as he fell behind. Couldn't hear much over the racket my own car was making.
-
Is it? Thought it was the V8 out of the RS4. Like I said it was fast and from my point of view had no lag to speak of.

Thats genius. I love it when I get daft ideas that work really well. Especially if a neighbour catches you doing it and wonders what the hell is going on. Once took out a wasps nest in a hedge with a lighter and a can of deordorant much to next doors amazment.
-
If that happened I'm sure he'd give up taking on Subaru's all together. Wilky - heard you had a mini. We weren't talking about cars at the time though.

I'm quite easy to provoke if I'm honest. The fact that I'm normally in my daily driver and HAVE to let things go mean if you come accross me in the subaru I'm far more likely to take he bait. When I got where I was going I mentioned the road was full of nutters and was told about the modified show. Probably explains it.
-
I did mention it had more in it but always sounds like a cop out when you say that. They weren't laughing at my efforts BTW just at the daftness of what we were doing. Much more enjoyable when it's all good natured.

Nope. 2 Guys, late 20's/early 30's, laughing their heads off.

Is it just me tha gets tis all the time? I was heading through from Glasgow to Edinburgh early yesterday morning to get my car mot'd. As the car was being laid up for a couple of months I'd left it with no fuel in it so I filled up ( v power only ), switched to the low power map and and off I went. Haven't used it in ages and decided a gentle 60 - 70 mph run would be best and allow me to watch the gauges. I pulled onto the motorway and within 100 yards I have a fiesta zetec s right up my bunghole. He pulled out fast and came along side, matched my speaad and gave me the look. 3 seconds latet he was a spec in the mirror and I settled down for the rest of my journey. Hadn't got much further and I was aware of something much bigger and much faster coming up behind me. It had its xenons on so was difficult to make out what it was until it too pulled up next to me and matched my speed. It was a 2010 RS6 and this guy meant business. Serious eye contact, blipping the throttle and driving in what sounded like 3rd gear.. Damm, why hadn't i put in scottimax and ran full power . Never mind. He pulled the pin and was off. I must say for a standard car it was really really fast. Just not as fast as a 11 year old subaru. He must have been thinking "Yes, no turbo lag" as he pulled away, 5 seconds later he was thinking "Damm, no turbos" . It was good natured enough and he sheepishly came past me at 65mph and gave me a wave. I gave him the thumbs up and tried not to grin too much. Anyway. Just passing Livingstone another car came steaming up behind me. A mkII golf gti. A red one. Looking totally standard. I was actually in the fast lane this time as I was passing some trucks but couldn't speed up due to traffic in front of me. When the guy in front pulled in front of the trucks I put my foot down a bit and had a look in my mirror expecting to see him falling back, He wasn't. Hmmmm. Couldn't go too fast as there was traffic ahead so slowed down and waited for some more space. He was closing in fast just as the car in front pulled over so was obviously thinking the same thing. Again I put my foot down but while I was pulling away from him it wasn't as fast as I thought I should be. Did this several more times and was starting to think the car wasn't running as strong as it should be but 1.96 bar on the AVCR said otherwise. He pulled up next to me when we stopped at the bypass roundabout, and managed to talk to him for 30 seconds. Turns out its running 350 hp with a turbo vr6!!!. No outward signs that it been tuned at all. So if your in the Livi Endiburgh area watch out because as I said to the guy, that thing is fooking fast.

Silly question - is 29th August the date of the meeting or the event?
-
Gumtree is free and local buyers to boot. Good luck mate.
-
Planning on coming down for the Sunday. Will be traveling in comfort myself. Will leave the type r at home.
-
I'll give you some earplugs, you should have some for the bike anyway. You decided who's driving it yet?
-
At least it'll be pressed down firmly on the trailer. You sure you plastic bootlid can take the strain?
-
Drive the fooker down and hopefully back. RAC card at the ready in case of emergency.

I laugh every time I see someone trying to sell orange indicators. There are so many sitting about they are practically worthless. There's nothing wrong with many OE part (still got a few left on my car) but if any have come off of my car I've either sold them or given them away depending on what they're worth or how long they've been sitting about. After you go past stage 1 the cost and agro of putting a car back to standard just isn't worth it in my opinion.

If you don't know when was last done then it's worthwhile. That said I've nnever beard of one letting go, far more common for a tensioner to go so I'd get them done at the same time.
