  1. Does it not have something to do with the style of rollers? Single drum ones are not as sensitive but the more common twin drum ones have a tendancy to "pinch" the tyres and that can add friction and give a false reading. Or am I just talking out my @rse as usual?
  2. Thats an easy one, he's sold his motor and bought this thing
  3. Awesome mate [Y] I'd be tempted to put a chain through one of those bad boys and wear it as a medallion.
  4. Any more info on this one? My old man is thinking about selling a classic vx and it might be a good idea to pitch up with a for sale sign.
  5. Bikerite for me too, they were pretty good but that was a long time ago.
  6. So thats means you're surfing the web on the company's time, shame on you. []
  7. Never a truer word spoken. []
  8. Was down a Bill's last weekend and saw your whip Pete, got to say that intercooler is big pimpin! [Y] Not one for doing things by halves are you?
  9. Yup, he's a top guy. Was over there this afternoon getting a new maf simulator for my car and he did the business as usual. As Johnny said he's just back his holidays and this is TOTB week so will probably take his a few days to get through all his e-mail.
  10. The 99/00's have a known weakness when it comes to blowing mafs, my record for gubbing one is 2000 miles. It can be made much worse if you use certain aftermarket air filters or induction kits so beware. Personally I'd recommenf fitting a knocklink or similar especially if you intend to tune the car as it could save your engine if it goes again. The warning light may be the lamda sensor as when a maf goes it can fry the lamda in no time. Should be easily diagnosed and replaced by a dealer.
  11. Watch yourself with that Jon. Read more than a couple of threads about cheaply made sensors coming off and being drawn into the engine. There was one about 2 months ago on Scoobynet where the guy bought a cheapo one off of ebay and when he started a thread about loads of other people posted up to say the same thing had happened to them. When he complained to the company they told him it must have been his fault and all they would do is supply another sensor, they would not cover any damage it had done to his motor. Will try and find you the link for the group buy he set up (now finished unfortunately) afterwards to get a quality one when Snet is back up and running.
  12. Sorry to see you go Chris but I'm sure you'll be back. I'm sure we'll all have fond memories of Chris but i'll remember....... The tales of your old army days Your winning smile How you were willing to devote all you money to your hobbies Your willingness to school the newbies (personally) I'm sorry to hear that you'll now be settling down But just remeber
  13. Speak to Cal then, sounds like its the only way he'll be able to afford any more mods.
  14. The vids going online? There goes the group buy for the dvd's []
  15. What kind of intercooler do you have? Evidence suggests that it isn't the fuel that causes high speed det but the fact that the tmic's are not effective at higher speeds. The air that should be directed down the scoop and through the i/c gets blasted over the scoop and leads to high charge temps which leads to fubar'd engines.
  16. Lookin good [Y]. Where did you get them?
  17. Too many times for it just to be a spot of bad luck Spooks. Have you changed the up-pipe or uprated it at all? Also, is it leaking at the top or the bottom end? Sounds like you need to dig a bit deeper into this one as it'll just reoccur if not looked into.
  18. I'm afraid Imy, as a man, I can only do one thing well at a time. As a result when I'm modding the car it goes well but the missus has a face on for weeks and when I'm being a family man the motor has to take a back seat. What I can do however is translate office speak bullsh!t into real words and vice versa, my 17 years working for a large faceless company means I have read more then the odd "mission statement". How we got by before them I don't know?
  19. If you want 260 bhp then the mods you've listed should make that no problem. If possible include a decat as part of your exhaust upgrade. If you want to save a couple of quid ditch the dump valve idea, the one that already on your car will be fine at those levels.
  20. Welcome to the club! You'll find lots of good advice on here about modding your car but think long and hard about what you want to do with it. For most folk a standard Subaru will be plenty fast enough and by far the most reliable. Minor tweeks more than often lead to major work so think on. If you've already made up your mind that you are going to mod it then decide how far you want to go and set yourself a goal and stick to it. Only buy parts that will get you to your goal so you don't end up having to upgrade your upgrades if you know what I mean. Most people spend whatever money they have available on the car but buy the parts as they can afford them and not in the order they need them. Make a list of what you need, or ask what you need, and fit them in the right order. It'll save you a fortune in mapping fees, you'll see steady improvements and above all you'll avoid blowing your engine. IMHO the worse thing you can do is say I've got £XXXX to spend, what will that get me? If you start off with a certain amount to spend I'll gaurantee you'll spend it all but may not get what you want. As i said decide what you want from the car and then figure how much you'll need to do it.
  21. Well I'd certainly be in favour of a Crailcam, would save me having to text JC every 20 minutes to see if it's raining (cheers mate [H]) Unfortunately it wouldn't have helped me last night as it was dry when I set off and raining monsoon style by the time I got there.
  22. Thanks for the updates guys, will keep my fingers crossed. JC, I touch goats
  23. Ooooooooooooooohhhh thats more like it. Better dust off the RAC card []
  24. Cheers for the heads up Brian. Look like I'll have to frag my drivetrain another day []
  25. Thinking of heading up tonight to fry my clutch and strip a gear or 2 and wondered what the weather was like. If it's gash it's not really worth my while. Oh yeah, anyone been to the Saturday night ones before? Whats it like for getting lots of runs in? Cheers
