  1. Cos that's what its at just now.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1991-SUBARU-JUSTY-4W...1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. If it selects with the engine off it sounds like the box is fine and its the clutch. Does it have a high biting point? Have you checked the fluid level?
  3. I've had the same thing happen to me, do you have any trouble with 5th at all? They share the same shaft and if one goes it can effect the other. It's not a new box though as it can be sorted. First thing to try is selecting reverse with the engine off, if it goes in you are looking at a clutch problem. If it still won't engage then it sounds like a selector fault.
  4. I know exactly where you're coming from mate but for everyday use a cage is really a backwards step safety wise if not used with other measures. Harnesses are a must as are proper motorsport seats. A helmet would stop your head cracking the metalwork but isn't really practical for everyday use. Short of all that the only way to improve safety is to avoid having an off in the first place. What about driver training courses? Not saying you're a danger or anything just to add a bit of a "comfort" factor.
  5. Think on before you fit one Davie. Good for the track, not so good for the road. I asked about getting a "road" cage on a couple of forums. I said that some cars come with them fitted as standard (TVR's and 911 GT's etc) so why not fit them to a Subaru. To cut a long story short it became pretty obvious that if I didn't want to drive down to Tesco's wearing a four point harness and a crash helmet that it'd do more harm than good. Oh yes, and just try to get insurance with one. It'll just about double your premium and that's if they quote you in the first place. If you want to make your car safer fit the best brakes you can afford and run with good rubber. Don't skimp on maintenance and don't drive like a nut case. If that's not enough I'd guess you better start looking for another car but they won't be any safer if you don't do the above.
  6. Very very nice Mr C [Y] Having found myself in similar negotiation situations, mostly hostile, I can appreciate the complex and delicate process that you have had to endure. In my experience it is best to · Give as much advanced notification of your intended purchases as possible. This means that when a packages arrive you can proclaim “I told you about that (6 months ago while you were on the phone to your mother)”. · Baffle the opposition with as much technical specification as possible “A rotated hybrid GT30/40r with enlarged and ported compressor housing combined with an ej22t running a 79mm crank means it’ll match that pretty dress you’re wearing”. · Blur the boundaries between essential and desirable “Of course it’s got to have ap 6 pots, what do you think that Peugeot fitted to your 307 when it was in for a service? Would you rather I died?”. · Point out that potential purchase can have a positive effect on both parties “Well, if I can buy it then I’ll stop going on about it”. · Remind the other party of previous transactions that you agreed to and ask that you be give similar consideration “Well look at how much money you’ve spent at the supermarket this year!!!”. If these tactics are not successful there are other, if slightly more high risk, tactics that you can employ. Cost centre restructuring – Hide the credit card statement Creative logistical strategy – Have it sent to a mates house Overall performance evaluation – Ask her what her fudgin problem is and what she’s doing out of the kitchen. Then run.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  7. Haven't done it myself but have read into it quite a bit as I was going to do it on my car. The 7 and 8 i/c's are the same but whatever you get make sure it come with the support brackets as you won't be able to re-use both of the originals. The new intercoolers can only be fitted to the later classic models too, if you have a slanty one just now then there is just no way to do it.
  8. or.... I'll take whatever one of you is the lightest please.
  9. Will this picture be on Crimewatch next week? Have you seen these 2 girls, last seen being bundled into the boot of a blue car at knockhill? Passers by describe the assailant as grinning lunatic.
  10. Ahhhh, the type r myth. When I took mine out it had 60k on it and it was a minter. Never saw anymore that 15 knock count on it even with 7 deg extra advance on it.
  11. I think you're coming at this from the wrong angle Davie. The classic shell is on a par with other cars from that era but things have moved on, a modern supermini would probably offer you more or the same protection. What you need to consider is how likely you are to have a crash in one. With full time awd, lots of grip, decent brakes and the power to overtake safely I would argue that you are less likely to have a crash in the first place.
  12. Sorry to hear that Davie. Lost a few friends in my biker days and it's never easy.
  13. Stick with it Scotty. I'm afraid to say that when a maf fails it more than often takes the lamda sensor with it. When the car is running lean it cooks it. Be thankful it didn't take the rest of the engine with it.
  14. As above, a big hitter in the ford world. Well respected and many a big power cossie running on his maps.
  15. Doug's right, he's normally at the front. Followed by a load of people trying to get past him
  16. And change that user name pronto!
  17. That looks well smart. FMIC and version 5 seats, what other goodies does it have?
  18. At least we're not in it. [] On a more serious note, does this mean the falcon's feature is off?
  19. That's quite a list. There must be loads of money in computers these days.[]
  20. Gotta be something to do with Ikea.
  21. You haven't linked them to pics on your pc have you? Others won't be able to see them if you have.
  22. Nah, its just Callum's way of telling you he "goes the other way".[] Isn't that right duckie.
  23. I'm working on the 8th but was thinking of heading up for the evening. Does anyone know if thats free entry also and how much to sign onto the quarter mile only?
  24. Sorry Davie. Couldn't resist. Try http://www.performancealloys.com/orings.asp or ebay.
  25. Think H Samuel do these, normally next to the sovereign ones.
