Quite simply he was the inspiration for all of us! My thoughts go to his family... to his wife alison especially.

i've never tried.. but i would love to.. If I had a bit of privite land and four new tyres I think it would be hella fun to try some stuff out, also useful from the point of view of finding the cars (or mine) limits, of which I have no clue under the law. sureley there must be a time and a place to try this stuff out, with the police fully aware bla bla. Like power slides.. for example.. i am intrigued, but where on earth can I try them? nowhere. someone should open up a runway somwhere and invite people to ddrive their cars like idiots in an organased fasion.

how did you get a print out of the graph? Andy couldn't give me that when I went. maybe i'm wrong.

What Would You Do With This Car And This Budget
ScoobySounds replied to ScoobySounds's topic in Scottish Scoobies
thanks johnny i'll get the brakes checked out first.. i'll have to go down and look what tyres they are. are the toyo t1r's rubbish? drb - i made a mistake when looking at your link before.. thats for front only! and also couldn't find for a 99/00 wrx.. . I might just go for the initial suggestion of Tein Superstreet (without upper pillowball mounts) - EBC discs and EBC red stuff pads with caliper overhaul My thinking being that I can always add the drop link anti lift kit, and mounts etc if need be.. Hopefully the brakes will be enough.. surely. I totally apprecieate what everyones saying about the AP's though, but for the money, and the use i'd get out of them.. i'm not completely conviced. ps. now whiteline suspension comes into the equation..AAHHhhhhhhrrrrggghh please everyone still check in here, tell us what kind of suspension/brakes you all have!!! and how happy you are with them? -
is it poss to set it so you can only start a thread in the 'for sale' section after you've got like 100 posts or something.

What Would You Do With This Car And This Budget
ScoobySounds replied to ScoobySounds's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Thanks so far guys, so brakes wise we think that the AP upgrade is a bit overkill? so we think these will do the job nicely? compared to because thats american dollars so looks like a well cheap price for a 6pot upgrade. only need braided cables, fluid and labour over that price? alan - you'd still recommend putting track pads on with this EBC setup? Yeah i'm not planning any further power upgrades, its sitting just now at 310bhp and its fine for me. for now. blue dragon; re. the 'upper mounts' does this mean that if I don't get the mounts then i'll be stuck with a rubbish camber angle and no driver feedback? thats the 'half-empty' part of my brain talking also blue-dragon, do you have the drop link anti lift kit done on yours? if not do u think you need it? EVERYONE:-- go on chime in and say what your running on your scoobs. -
Hi fellas, I'm a bit of a mechaniphobe, I will get stuck in when I have to but will invariably break something.. anyway so I usually entrust my scoob to Duncan at hypertech for advice and whatnot. I'm fairly pleased with the engine at the moment (decat and AndyForrest) but turning and stopping is, simply put, dangerous at any sort of speed. I've had to brake hard a couple of times at speed and the brakes seemed to be near useless. So i'm not doing that anymore. I want to get the car to an excellent road standard and a capable track standard.. I not going nuts or anything.. but I want my cash to be spent effectively. ..for which I need your guys help. so BRAKES is this correct- new discs and pads + caliper overhaul OR upgrade to 6pot AP's obviously I know what would be best, but I don't know how the two options compare. SUSPENSION I've heard of people ONLY doing the drop links and anti lift kit, but duncan has suggested a superstreet upgrade (with or without a thing called an 'upper mount'- ) and said you can do the drop links anti lift on top of this for perfection but its not essential. so can you guys pitch your experience to me about these? do I need all that stuff? the car is a jap '99 WRX and the budget is in the region of £2000

I will be following intently. I liked the colour theme of your 555, kinda like, less serious... almost like a cartoon scooby. Do you think you'll be in a similar veign with this or different all the way?

so its good then that this thread concludes well for Arnold Clark. I think they did a bang up job on mine and can recommend. They were 50% of the reason everything was so smooth for me. Elephant the other 50%. -
would be worst nightmare hearing it start up outside the flat.. Would they even take the tracker fitted ones? My phone should ring if the car moves without the key.. of course, if they have the key then thats different.

Thats my claim all settled and over with Elephant, got the phone call today and they are paying out, and I can say that the whole thing couldn't have been made easier for me. I had no problems with any part of dealing with elephant, all the people I spoke to were friendly, helpful and in the uk. and I still have all my no claims bonuses intact! I will be insuring with them again come the renewal. Also - just got scoob car back today from Arnold Clark bodyshop and they did a first rate job! After hearing bad reports in this thread about their shoddy workmanship I was a wee bit worried, but the colours match great on the new panels.. its the rear wing, and both doors that were replaced after I was driven into about a month ago. They even attempted to fix my saggy bumper on the other side, but alas it popped out again later and is saggy once more. So pleased to have her back! .. for the week that she was being repaired it made me realise I never want to sell up and be without her. -
BUT! .. in answer to the original question, the 2001-02 scooby IS a scooby! any impreza is a scoob to me I think, its gonna take a bit of time to think of that 08 as a scoob though.
-
The 08 is still easier on the eye than I remember feeling in 2001 with this monstronsity.
-
Gus you selling your scoob? whats with that? you just get it running sweet as nuts then not have it to enjoy? are you just needing a project to work on?
-
now i'm not usually a fan of the blobs, but this one is indeed a cracker. love the spoiler.

Please can anyone help me to source a new one (or set) of these chrome embelisher lips. the company arospeed is american and do not answer emails.. there must be a more accessible supplier, here in UK. does anyone have any clues?!? Thanks guys.

Thanks for the examples about Arnold Clark, I will be cautious and prepare for battle! the colour thing worries me mine is grey like an rb5 so shouldn't be too difficult, one would think. -

you declared the decat!? how come, istn't it a big no no to have decatted? thanks everyone, quite right AC wouldn't want to put themselves out the job, I guess its just if they send someone along from elephant that would come up. to be honest though, i've not had any of the other probelms, i found them to be swift and efficient in dealing with the claim. they got a call from the 3rd party insurers trying to get a 'whos liable' but elephant told them to get bent. and i've only ever spoken to call centres in the uk. JamesM why didn't you want ArnClark to touch your car? on mine its just the rear wing and rear door so nothing engine related.. should be fine with arnold clark shouldn't it? -

i'm currently going through a claim with elephant and for a few reasons i'm worried that they will not pay up. not least the decat factor, and the 18" wheels. everything else on the car is standard... do you think arnold clark repairers will report the car as 'modified' and elephant pull out? -
