Where do I get a chrome lip replacement?
ScoobySounds replied to ScoobySounds's topic in Scottish Scoobies
ah - well they came on the car already - I remember the previous owner said he had got them imported from japan. I hoped there might be somewhere a touch closer than that [] -
anyone know where I can get a replacement chrome lip for these types on wheels? I only need one - kinda met with a kerb the other day, not nice.

i'll jump on the bandwagon here....... 18 WITH AN STI? what on earth do you do for a living? whats the secret?
-
rab - cheers mate, i will look into what you said .. 7oo+v is next-year money though.. I was hoping to come in a lot less than that. I am only looking to get my car running sweetly for what it is, not looking to thrash any scooby round kh or anything.... thats why I want to get rid of the cat first off, its just choking the car, and then map it to fuel correctly for that set up. If I change the DP and Centre section now and map in the future, will I be causing any adverse effect upon the engine in the meantime? gus -ps. cheers i'll keep you updated!
-
right so looks like they'll do the pipes for about 200 for the dp and 90 for the centre. i had a look on ebay but have heard thatpeople have been having nightmares with the pipes not fitting properly and end up spending way more anyway. don't know how true that is... thanks stephen, i'llkeep an eyeon the for sale section. GUS! hello... are you the man who can do it all for a tenner? [] :cheeky get:

right... not that I can afford it for a wee while yet, (moving house) but i really want to get the car remapped, but before I do, i will need to get the centre section and downpipe changed. Now, i'm a little club-handed with a spanner, but could possibly rally some troops to help me with it, if it was the sort of thing I could manage myself. I've read and read about it but still don't know whats going on.... I could do with a little help with terminaology, parts names and like rough prices. stop me anywhere that I no longer make sense. Going from the final result and working backwards ... I don't want the really fancy apexi that andy F offers, because think the ecu in my car is pretty good anyway (its a 99 import wrx, standard with the only mod being a ninja backbox) but am still confused by all the other options there are. so firstly what kind of remap is it that i'm after? secondly, I don't want to go silly on modifying, so am I right in thinking that just a 2.5" will suffice? and why do some pipes go from 3" to 2.5" ? is that for connecting to an original centre section, or is there somebenifit to the narrowing| .. where do I get all these bits from, and am I as well just to get them fitted at a garage? (i'm in edinburgh) so - pricing....... I am real skint, so would love to do this on a shoestring...anyone want to give their best guesses? Cheers all.
-
what about the edinburgh area? any suggestions where I can go to get a downpipe and centre section fitted? and how much it should cost me? then i'm off the andy forrests after that..

here's my one - took a few pic yesterday so thought i'd postem. and my old one... an old kid-on scoob.

does your turbo sometimes not wake up??
ScoobySounds replied to ScoobySounds's topic in Scottish Scoobies
that sounds about the same as me I think Al. V strange. a split pipe sounds like that would cause a consistent, and deteriorating problem. A sticky-something, or dirty-something sounds more like what this is. why do you ask where I am? you wanna come sort it for me? [] anybody else could probably fix it in the time it would take me to recognise a boost solenoid after it falls from the sky and hits me on the head. when I open the bonnet, it looks full[:|] -

need some help from the pro's to build a health scoob?
ScoobySounds replied to kassam's topic in Scottish Scoobies
out of interest, what turbo is in my wrx import 00 (or 99)? the guy I bought it off reckons that the car came out of the factory at 280bhp -- would that still be the td04? it does seem to run out of puff, as you say, seems to have two main power bursts through the revs. -
Hi there! Last week something happened to my scoob that got me all in a knot. I was out driving the car in afternoon pretty hard, even trying some 0-60's etc and the car was driving really well, and when I got home I let it idle for 5 mins or so, as I’ve been told to do. then in the evening when I was in convoy with another car going slow, I was suspicious that the turbo wasn’t kicking in. and kept squirting, to test it, and I’m sure it wasn’t kicking in. then on the drive home, I was definite it wasn’t kicking in. I couldn’t sleep that night worrying about it, but got up the next morning warmed her up and she turboed once more, as if nothing was wrong. Has this ever happened to anyone? Its happened one other time also, but thats it. I love my scoob, but none too the technical wizard – so go easy on me – I could just about find the turbo when I looked under the bonnet, so that’s what your dealing with here [8-)]

Scottish Scoobies Ownership Poll - Newage and Classics
ScoobySounds replied to STi_Bandit's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Edited: see below -
you could hire proper radios. I get them alll the time at work.. i'm not on the actual hiring side, but I believe its very easy to arrange.. the chap comes and gives you 15 or 20 or whatever you need, plus chargers, then takes em away when your finished. something like this company http://www.sighire.co.uk/ or http://www.netradios.co.uk/ do a google, I bet there are loads.

same wheels as me!! aren;t they a bloody nightmare, the chrome rim sticks out so theres no option of feeling a kerb, or driving up one. My front left one is all bashed up, but the rest seem to still be ok. i'm dubious about driving hard with these rims. -
My one seems to do that now, and I wish it wouln't cos a) its rubber off my tyres and wheel spin = no goingy forwards. I can't put my foot down in 1st because the wheels just spin. Annnnnyway, someone yesterday gave me the phone number of a chip/remap guy said it'll cost about 350 and take the bhp to as much.. but I don't know if there's much point.. the torque already feels like armageddon, and I can't find enough road anywhere to unleash it. I thin ka re-map would frustrate me more that I can't drive the beast to any kind of limit. Fun on the track though, sure! Plus that thing with the wheels, that would probably only get worse. Question - does a remap help deliver more torque at lower revs? because I think that would make the car more enjoyable to drive on every day journeys. whrer can i read about chipping? cheers.

Wheels scraping arches, is it safe?
ScoobySounds replied to ScoobySounds's topic in Scottish Scoobies
i'm going over to my old mans house today so i'll be able to take the wheel off in his driveway to check the offset number, and i'll also measure the width etc.. any other things I should check while i'm rooting? how expensive a problem is this to get totally sorted? do I have to roll arches, or get smaller wheels or something? cheers fellas. -

ah cheers man, no no i'm NOT selling it, I'm the one who bought it, saw it on eBay and drove down to england to pick it up the next day, cos I too thought it was abslolutey gorgeous. thats why I want to look after it and sort stuff about it! so having said that I want to look after it, i'm about to show you a picture of the bumper bit coming away, and it looks dirty! I haven't had time to take the wheel off or anything yet so bear with me on those specifics! It looks like the very edge of the bit thats coming away has bent a little too. its the exact same on the other side WHAT should I do! like I say, i'll hopefully be able to say more about the offset and the width etc later.
