Some great photos there guys. I`ve only saw the great man twice and both times were down at Wales Rally GB. The 1st time I saw him was in 2004, we got to one of stages early on a cold damp September morning. As we tried to find a good spot to see the cars go by the hype around the stage was that Colin McRae was at this very stage spectating, his brother Alastair was competing in a Subaru for the Production Cup that year. Sure enough after the top 20 or so cars had went through the focus turned to McRae as he was walking through the stage stopping to allow for photos and autographs. Even a star like McRae was standing in the pouring rain in a field full of sheep cr@p! I just stood there in awe, he was just like us, watching the sport he loved.
The 2nd time was the following year, 2005, when he was competing for Skoda. I was down at the Service Park in Swansea. The cars were being held in the paddock before being allowed to go for service. With the drivers chatting it was a great opportunity to take photos of all the big names. However there was a subdued atmosphere at the Service Park this particular day. News filtered through of reports that the Peugeot driven by Marko Martin had crashed and his co-driver Michael Park had been killed. The reports were true of the tragedy. Another sad day that I will always remember.
