  5. My God, what shocking and deeply sadening news. I will personally remember him driving a white cossie on the Scottish Rally - we saw him when I was a wee boy on a long climb onto a massive straight. The speed (and noise) were UNBELIEVABLE. He was simply a cut above the rest with balls of steel. I was in awe of him. This is my memory of him - a true legend. Thoughts go to all the friends and relations. RIP big man...

  7. As an ex-trolley boy employee at ASDA(part time job befor I qualified,) I can confirm that we were only allowed to push 10 trolleys and that they must be strapped in. That was before the days of £1 trolleys that do not need £1. I think that some of the trolleys do not need £1 though. So, if you had a photo of the trolleys, you may have a case. I once hit a Lada!!! They are usually good with claims like that anyway. I did not know S&S had a paintshop..........
  8. I remember getting booked for speeding a year or two ago. The policeman gave me a telling off and explained he had been at a fatal road accident the day before involving 'one of those' cars. In fairness, I did take it easy for the next week or so. Some cops do let the power go to their head, however there are a few decent ones. I just let them have their say and bite my lip most of the time. On the subject of WPC's, I prefer the dark haired ones!!
  9. That's wierd. I missed that track day - the first one I've missed this year as I was heading North on Sunday for a weeks surveys. I saw the VW being towed home about tea time and saw it was in a real mess. The guy never struck me as being a nutter from any of the other track days and it drives it home that accidents do happen and they can happen to anyone. Despite what you guys may think, accidents like that are few and far between on the Hot Hatch days. Team Gimps are also legends.
  10. Apparently this is a bit of a grey area, some say yes, some no. Basically the tubes on either side of the axle which rotate to allow the rear suspension to operate (torison bars) sieze with age as they become ovalled due to wear and tear/ rust etc. Edited to say: I bought the car in February 2006 with the existing MOT (new format) and the beam was seized back then so in this instance, it was not an MOT failure. Notwithstanding, you can pick up a second hand refurbished beam on e-bay and fitting is as I say, relatively easy: http://www.205gtidrivers.com/articles.php?...=b-rearbeamswap This of course assumes that it is indeed an MOT failure. Depending on what you use the car for, you may chose to get it repaired. It is very stiff for road use.

Due to the arrival of our first baby in March 2007, I have finally decided to sell my trackcar.Details are as follows: 1988 (E) Peugeot 205 1.6 GTi (Phase 1.5) Gunmetal grey MOT’d till 21st November 2006 Tax’d till December 2006 120,000 miles Donor engine from Citreon BX GTI/ Peugeot 405 SRI – 1900cc, 8 valve injection with more torque than standard 1.9 GTi and same torque (to 5000 RPM) as an Mi16 Peco backbox Induction kit New Greenstuff front brake pads Clear front indicators Fully stripped internally Brand new tracking control arm, radiator, rear wheel bearings, rear brake cylinder, Yokohama tyre (receipts available) Current owner for 8 months I have been up at most of the Hot Hatch days this year and can honestly say that the car has been cheap, reliable and loads of fun. It is road legal and surprises quite a few GTi's, GTE's & XR2's. Remember this car has hardly any weight, plenty power and loads of torque. The only downside is that the rear beam needs refurbished (as all of these cars generally do.) This is a relatively easy job that I have been meaning to do however have simply not got round to it. It has not stopped me participating in the Hot Hatch days as all it really means is that the rear suspension has little or no travel which gives it Go-Kart like handling!!!   12. So I take it AWD is in Perth then. Not too bothered about travelling in terms of fuel costs - I have a shell company fuel card!!!
  13. My car got a fast road geometry set up by TSL motorsport by the previous owner a year or so ago. It must be out now as my front tyres are wearing unevenly (inner shoulders wearing excessively, probabl;y due to excessive negative camber?) I understand that they will wear in this way however I am sure a re-setting of the geometry would not go amiss (I have a print off of the settings by TSL.) So where is the best place to go - I am in the south side of Glasgow. Someone recently mentioned AWD Motorsport? Thanks in advance guys.
