Only just alive after finding how bad my brakes are on one side.....

Glad to hear that you got a noticable difference. I'm going to get a similar thing done next week, but don't know whether to go for a 7kg lightened flywheel or a 5.75kg billet alloy flywheel as I often drive in busy stop start traffic. How do you find idle and how do you find it for stalling on pulling away? Does it need to be re-mapped after a lightened flywheel is fitted?

I'm getting my new clutch and flywheel at the end of this week. I have the choice between a 5.75kg billet chromoly flywheel or an API lightened 7kg flywheel. I regulalrly drive across the dreaded Kingston Bridge so it can be pretty stop-start and slow driving. Any advice welcome.

Hi Imy & Squiggle... I was dying to come on the last run, but a slipping clutch and dodgy brakes makes means I am trying not to drive it unless absolutely necessary. A run is a big temptation - twisty open roads! Grant, I've waved at you a few times - but normally it's the wrong van I manage to wave at. You'll have to get a custom paint job!

Hi Peter Congrats on your new addition to the family! Also, congrats on an almost 10 second Crail run too! I hear that the car is insanely quick. Well done. What do they say about the most stressful life events, moving house and having a baby within a few months? NEVER again!!! Well not in the same year anyway.

Hiya all. I miss all and the banter as I haven't been able to log on often. It's been a hectic 9 months having a baby and moving house too, lack of sleep and plenty of stress. Apologies for the scarlet pimpernell-ness. I've been nursing my wagon for the last 6 months as I've been too skint to spend money on much needed clutch and brakes. It does stop - but it's starting to get near the limit of unsafe - so it's booked in to get some work done late next week. Just a wee hello. Also a good mate of mine is looking for a well looked after pre 2001 wagon - so if anyone knows the whereabout of one please let me know.

May just be a software problem. CMOS battery may have gone low from the sound of it if you are losing time/date. These are normally soldered in on laptops. When the cmos battery goes low you usually have to setup the BIOS properly (try loading default settings first). Only ever have 1 antivirus product installed. They will fight against eachother otherwise. Uninstall the one you aren't using. Final one, Suggest your recovery cd to put back to factory settings (you will loose all data, pics etc usually).

Aha.... but I LOVE Bovril.

I personally love Bovril on my toast in the mornings. Ohh, the stories I have about Bovril! The way I see it is that everyone has choices in life. We all make good and bad choices in our lifetime. When I make a choice, I usually do some research to find a bit more, so I can make an educated decision. I wouldn't have just bought a Scooby without first doing my research and chatting with a few knowledgable people. I could have just made a decision blindly and bought any old boring car. Now I look back and I release I didn't do my research well enough and should have bought an STI. I do not pretend to be the most knowledgable or academic person, but I do try and find out what is truth. As long as people make there own educated choices about beliefs or faith then you have to respect that - as long as they have done their research properly. If you do not agree with their research then you can chat about it - sometimes the evidence will be put in front of you that will make you change your mind. As long as you aren't ignorant and blind to good research and arguments. There will always be disagreements and differences but I believe we should have some sort of respect in the mix of it. Anyway, I'm just back from holiday and I'd just like to say :- "I love beefy Bovril!"

I never can remember - Is it bad to have the clutch biting point nearest the floor or furthest away from the floor? My clutch is biting close to the floor (about an inch off) at the moment and it didn't like doing a quick start off from standstill. It didn't smell too good for about 3 hours! It is a standard clutch.

So - What's involved in putting OB and Meths into a car just for a Crail trip? Anything to watch for? My car has been mapped for VPower so I'm not sure whether this is worth it? Does it add a degree or two of safety for the engine?

A man who has inspired many. I'm sure many will continue to be inspired by him. One of Valentino Rossi's childhood hero's - What more can you say? Thoughts and prayers are with the Mcrae family and for all those other families who are affected by the loss of these young lives.

I'm sorry I didn't make it along today. He has influenced and inspired many - including myself. Motorbike legend Valentino Rossi, who dedicated his win in Sunday's Portuguese MotoGP to McRae in his tribute said - "He was one of my idols when I was young. He was the Kevin Schwarz (US Grand Prix rider of 1990s) of motor rallies," said the Italian. My thoughts and prayers are with the McRae family at this time.

Very sad. Sad that Colin is gone and for the two young lives and other person also. Our thoughts are with their relatives and everyone that knew them.
