  1. Did I see you go through the roadworks at the M8. If that was you I was in the red wagon and gave you a wave.
  2. I always drive sensibly! I'm sure you do drive sensibly at the moment anyway! I used to drive sensibly until I got my scoob modded. Seriously... when I got my car modded, I very quickly realised that I needed to calm down. I'm still learning to resist the urge to press the go pedal when I know I shouldn't. One day I'll be good - well either that or I'll get a ticket. Glad you only had a close shave in this instance. As someone very wise once said, " I'm going off to sniff some V-Power".
  3. Thankyou Squirrel & Bry. It really is a pleasure being part of this community when people like yourselves take time to help others. I have pm'd ya Squirel.
  4. I love SodaStream, Don't drink and drive tho...
  5. Glad to hear a story about a decent police decision for a change Worrying to hear about your Road Angel tho. So are you going to drive nice and sensibly when you get these mods?
  6. Could it be the directional valve is faulty/leaking? Why does the vacuum go to the directional valve? Should I pull off the charcoal canister side and block it and also the MAF air instake side to see what happens to the vacuum reading? Sorry for being a technical numbskull. I really appreciate the help!
  7. Ok, I checked again and still can't see anything. I did notice that if I pulled off the hose going to the directional valve near the fuel vapour cannister - I got a strong vacuum and if I put my finger over the hose I got about -485. Is this a clue? Excuse the crude diagram:-
  8. I had a look last night, and took all the hoses off and inspected them. I may have missed something or may have a leaky join somewhere so I'll check again. Thanks Squirrel my fluffy animal friend
  9. Phew... Thanks mate. I took it off this morning and put it that way round after trying to decypher the workshop manual for hours last night. I'm glad I guessed right
  10. Hiya Vicky.. Good to see you back. I'm only just back too!
  11. Which direction should the arrow be pointing? When you say bung- do you mean throw away or block up? Still a bit confused..... Help! Will that be effecting the boost at idle?
  12. Really sorry to hear that mate. These scum really seem to be concentrating on scoobies at the moment, and don't seem to stop at anything. I hope you get it back quickly.
  13. Lol. I'll get the valium to calm him down a bit. Sounds like it was a fantastic day. Sad I missed it.
  14. Boost readings at idle -210mmHg and reasonably static +-1mmHg. I'm led to believe that this should be fluctuating around about the -400 or -500 mark! The hoses have all been checked over as best I can visually and I took the hoses off and finger over one end blew down them as hard as I could. I was told when mapping the car that this was likely to be an electronic sensor fault as the reading is never usually that static. I got a new boost sensor (Thanks Peter) and it still hasn't fixed it. It's very frustrating as I can't run my top map of 1.2bar because apparently it is clipping at the higher end - probably due to the same problem. I'm currently running 1.15bar map. The car is MY98 Classic. All hoses above checked. I took off all the pipes around the boost sensor and checked they were ok visually, for blockages and leaks. I got a bit mixed up with a directional valve going to some sort of filter when doing this (please see other post). When I take the blue indicated pipe off the directional valve, I get a very good vacuum and the boost reading goes all over the place. I can't remember if I get a -500 reading if I put my finger over the vacuum or if I leave it open - one or the other I think? Could this be a clue? Help! Where is the mighty Squirrel! Any clues anyone?
  15. Help! I took off a directional valve and don't know which way it goes back on. ` Please help - It's a MY98 Classic. The directional valve seems to have ' To E/G' written on it? I haven't a clue what this means. This is the most important problem as I need to drive it to work tommorrow. Many thanks..
  16. The Porter Cable polisher looks good and is from the US isn't it? Does anyone sell them in the UK? Do you have to get a 110V/240V converter? $210 for a kit with pads + import duty and VAT?
  17. I'd be up for that if we get enough people. Any one else interested in the Glasgow area? A good polisher is about £175 eg. Metabo PE12-175 (with 3 yr warranty if registered). I don't know how you'd work it - may be people buy their own polish and foam pads?
  18. I've not got one yet, but my car is really in need of a good polish too. I really want to buy a polisher and have been looking at the Metabo one. The wife says I'm on a red card and can't spend anymore money for a while Oh well.
  19. Really sorry to hear that mate. I'm glad you are ok, if still a bit shocked and sore. Some of these people (is that the right word?), don't think at all. Near enough attempted murder on their hands. Hope you have a quick recovery.
  20. Nice job mate - car looks great. A bit of hard work and I bet you slept well after doin all that!
  21. I hope you are ok Welsho... The worst thing is not knowing... I'm gonna have to get me one of those alert devices when I can afford it. I only have a GPS camera database
  22. Emailed ya.... You are a gentleman and a scholar
