I got standard Subaru ones about 6 k ago. Price is not much different than the EBC Red Stuff ones, and the Scooby ones give off a rediculus amount of brake dust. In hind sight I would get the EBC ones next time. Dave

Yeah it seems to be the prefered way to steal cars these days. Brake into the house and help yourself to the keys. Even read a story of some thieves kicking the door in of a house in Liverpool to steal their Civic Type R. THe owners called the police, but by the time they had arrived the owners had been beaten with bats and the car was gone. A guy at my work had the same experience with his Audi S3 earlier this year. Braking in for the keys.....no beating by the way. Personally I lock the door even when I am in and the keys are never near the door or line of sight in the house.

To be honest I dont think that I want to go to court so will probably plead guilty. Going to call a lawyer on Monday for some advice though.

Will find out on Monday about the excess. My policy states that it does not effect the claims, and I have no claims protection anyway. Cheers for all the comments guys. One more question. How long did it take for your paperwork to arrive after being caught? Dave

Man, Friday the 13th really sucked for me. Took the car out of the garage this morning and a 4 inch crack has appeared on the drivers side of my windscreen. I think the stone must have hit, and when it cooled down in the evening, the windscreen cracked. Was not there when I put it away, as you cant miss it! Called autoscreen and will get it replaced on Monday. Will have to pay the £100 excess though![:'(]

and i thought i was the only one Imy,travel that stretch a lot myself, saw plenty of folk stopped by unmarked cars as well there,i never go over 60mph for that reason,it must be one of the most patrolled short stretches of motorway in glasgow area. i hope they take it easy on you Dave,.........you silly muppet! Yeah Mark you are right. On hind sight its only after the Bishopbriggs slip roads folk are pulled. They must sit just right to do your timing when spotted! In hind sight folk....beware.

Yeah, will just have to wait and see eh. Cops said there was no chance of a ban. But time will tell. Already accepted whatever happens anyway. Checked a few legal sites and they all indicate a 6 point penalty in Scotland and a 2 week ban in England.
-
Over 100 mph is a automatic ban in scotland unless there are exception circumstances as far as I am aware. The cop made it clear unless the court seen it as dangerous driving then its 6 points max, but as the road was dead when they done me then the fiscal should not go down that road.
-
Cops said worst case scenario would be 6 points. Said Scottish law does not ban for this offence.
-
Was that on a Motorway Alan? The cops seemed to think that the fiscal might just go for the 3 points due to the road conditions. Do you need a lawyer for a summons? My mate was caught doing 106 on M74 and got a two week ban.
-
Nice cars mate. Is it Nobles that you have purchased it from?
-
Cheers buddy. Can live with whatever the punishment is, just hoping its not the worst eh!
-
They were quite coy. Said that I was just over the limit for a fixed penalty. The cop who was pretty friendly is doing the report and it was him who said that he thought I was not being dangerous. Said its totally the fiscals decision.

Welcome mate. From Falkirk myself(Carronshore), so doubt see you about or at a Central Meet. Dave

Well, after 12 years of incident free driving I was caught speeding on the M80 Stepps by pass today. Was daydreaming and caught doing 90. Thing is the motorway limit there is 50. They were sitting on a slip road and timed me to get the speed. I know its wrong, so will take the penalty on the chin. As its 40 mph over the limit they have to refer it to the fiscal for consideration. The coppers said the procurator could change it to wreckless driving. To be fair the cops said the road was clear and as I was not weaving in and out of traffic they did not consider it dangerous or wreckless. Anyone have any idea of the outcome? Cops said they might still decide on fixed penalty, but I doubt it. I am expecting the 6 points and a fine, of which I have no idea. Plus what do you think that will add to insurance policy? Needless to say, think I will be sticking to the law now! Ashamed Dave

Know how you feel mate. I had complete brake failure about 12 years ago on my 1st car(Nova). Was approaching a roundabout and like yours pedal went straight to the floor. There was a car on the roundabout, and I had a broken hand brake cable at the time. Feck I thought, what am I going to do, at which point I just slammed it into first to try to engine brake a bit as I swerved round the car and rolled to a stop. Turned out both of the caliper pistons had seized on and roasted the brake fluid. Like the rest say, at least you and the car are okay. Dave

Think I am going to just leave it like that just now. Happy just to get rid of all the orange bits. Think I need to start putting cash aside for some new 17" or 18" wheels. The standard ones are getting real tatty now, and would prefer new ones as apposed to reconditioning them. Road tax this month so no chance of it for a while! Damn tax man!

You drinkin? We were out in no longer than 1 and a half hours! Plus you sucked! lol![]

Anyone have a recommended engine oil???
david_taylor replied to scoobasteve747's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I previously used Motul 15-50, ut they only come in 4L and 2L meaning you need to buy both for a oil change. I used Subarus recommended Shell Helix on the last change as it comes in a 5L. -
