  1. A possible thought there Vicki. Going to use some of my insurance to pay the fine all at once. Hopefully getting a car in a lower insurance group against the points should mean I can swap the insurance over without extra cost!
  2. Thats for sure mate. Did not fancy going to court. Stickin to the limit from now on in my nice new slow car! l
  3. I will like not spending the boys cash running my scooby did! lol
  4. Lesson well and truly learned. What annoys me is all the wee neds that speed in built up areas and towns, where its really dangerous. But I broke the law so taken it on the chin!
  5. Maybe a beemer mate.
  6. As you may remember from my motoring year from hell including several expensive mechanical failures and killing the car. One my own doing was getting caught doing 90 on the Stepps Bypass. Never trust a road angel!! I pleaded guilty by post and prepared for the conviction. Luckily the Police must have included in there report that they did not find it dangerous or wreckless as stated to me at the time. Judge did not call me up and got letter through the post today: 5 points and a £200 fine. Think its a fair enough sentence for the crime. Another reason why I dont plan to get a new scooby for a wee while. Temptation is big in the impreza, time for me to chill for a while. Still waiting for my insuarance offer, then will be looking for a nice TDI. Dave
  7. Thank god, all the docs and FSH turned up at insurance today. Took 11 days to arrive, not bad for 1st class! Waiting on my 1st offer now. Went to Peoples today to have a look at some cars. Yes, the Mondeo is a possabilty the now. There was a silver WRX in the cleaning bay he showed me for 5250 notes. Needless to say, my missus had to drag me away! The salesman then starting talking to me about finance to support me to get a Mondeo ST. Nice car, but as stated before I need to reduce running costs so not tempted. I might go back for a wee test drive of it though just to see what its like. Although I heard that someone got caught doing 122 mph on the Lauriston bypass at the weekend in a Focus ST(Silly boy). Its a 60 limit.....jail sentence there maybe! So I wont be opening it up there. Peoples is 2 mins away!
  8. lol! Stay in here thanks. Subaru owner at heart, but the head rules the now!
  9. So was AlanKs I think, plus I remember Vicki's getting in a tangle before. Think you may have hit the nail on the head there Imy. Its the UK Silver Classic thats cursed. All other owners - BEWARE!
  10. It was sent on Thursday, so thats why I have my doubts. Dont know yet till get cash. But was thinking of BMW 320 or maybe A4. But also tempted for the mondeo again for a couple of years, probably a 53 plate. Good car alround especially for my milage. Will miss the Scooby though, no doubts!
  11. Hope your right mate!
  12. As you are all aware my Impreza is away to the car park in the sky, after my attempt at off roading! I have had nothing but grief this year. Just some of the problems were: Done all pads in Jan. Calipers seized and had to replace again 5 months later. Clutch started slipping so got a nice 400 pound bill for new one. My rally skills proved poor and killed the car. Surely nothing else could go wrong..well. Sent my V5 Doc, FSH, MOTcertificate, Insurance certificate, and a couple grand of recipts to insurance, recorded mail last week. Also sent my Tax Disc to DVLA the same day. Guess what.....they have both went missing!!!! This means I have no proof of the extra value of the car should my offer be low. I cant get a cheque from insurance without MOT and V5. I will need to fill out a form for tax disc, and pay 25 notes to get new log book. Plus no dount have several heated call to insurance after initial offer. Whats that luck all about.....I must have wronged badly in a previous life or something!! As for the Royal Mail. I have not even started on them yet. Wont admit its lost till next week, delaying event even further. I will be looking for serious compensation here, but they only pay a max of 100 times the cost of postage. So I will be looking for the 400 pound on this!! P'd off Dave
  13. Makes my recent woes seem small in comparison mate. Hope your are well soon. Dave
  14. Your probably the biggest offender on the forum for the "wasney me" posts!
  15. My point exactly!
  16. To be fair I think St3ph3n has a point. These sort of posts, when everyone starts saying it was not them, offer no value to the forum IMO. If you want a "WIY" to be posted, post it in the "Seen another Scooby" section instead of Scottish Scoobies. Thats what its there for! Dave
  17. mmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..........I wish my car was still here!!!
  18. You know its not the right decision the now mate. Need to cut the spending on car for a while. I always paid for the work....cant hold off and take the chance like you do. Need a sensible run around for the now. My beemer when I get it will have you!
  19. You scooby driver make me sick! Boo Hoo!!!!!
  20. No doubt my one will be there soon to!!
  21. Will do buddy, Stevie works shifts and cant make most meets. Will keep in the scene. Really want another one, but need to be realistic about the cost of running a classic and the fact I cant afford a hawk eye for a year or so. That would be preferred choice unless I see a mint classic with less than 40k on clock. Will be back...for sure! WIll miss the thrill of Scooby, handeling and turning heads for sure. Postal strike is going to be real pain as they are sending offer by post!!! Dave
  22. Gus Dont really know for sure what I want just now, but its definately not a Scooby, well not for a couple of years anyway. Had a mondeo for 3 years before the scooby and could not fault it. Never failed a MOT and I only had to replace pads and a clutch at 100k. Prefered choice will be a Beemer, but I am looking for a TDI regardless due to the milage I need to travel. The 2L ones are 165bhp, so fast enough. I am gutted, as I loved the car, but I need to be realistic about the cost of running these and what I can afford just now. Plus with 5-6 points heading the way of my clean license, then it makes sense to downgrade mate. I spoke to the insurance engineer who said its best to write off. When collecting my stuff I looked at the back< and I am sure the chassis is twisted at rear. The dent at the rear drivers side indicates this as I never hit anything. So I doubt the car would have been the same again. He said he recommends that 5k less excess is what I can expect, which is a fair value I think. He even told me to take the service book out to prove it had FSH, as its not unusual for these to go missing. Plus I still have the receipts for clutch and Red Stuff pads I got on a couple of months ago. I expect a crap offer initially, but thats always the same eh. Sure I will be back eventually, but not for a while. Dave
  23. Stephen I know I could pick up a clean classic for that budget, but its the running costs for the milage I do that makes me want another car. You know yourself the cost, and things you have had to put off due to running yours. Loved every minute off it, but time for a change to a sensible car for a couple of years. Just think of the nice big new house you could get without having to run yours buddy!
  24. Well got the news today that the cars a write off! In a way, after advice from people, its probably not a bad thing, as they said even fixing all the suspension, it would never feel right again. They said I cant salvage it myself as due to the type of damage they cannot garauntee that I will not put it back on the road. Going to challenge that as I know its because they can recoup a good bit of cash selling to scrap. Plus they said if I could get a quote to fix for £2500 or less they would fix it. So most likely only the min cat write off!! As for a new car, its with a heavy heart that I shall not be getting another scooby at the moment. Think I will only have £5k to play with, so going for a sensible car as I do to many mile to justify running, plus the thing has been nothing but trouble for the past 8 months. Looking for a mondeo(used to have one so trust them) or a 3Series. Nothing fancy, just looking to run a car thats more economical for a while until funds allow another scooby. Will keep posting on the forum, and come along to meets though. My Bro in Law still has his(Double Zero) so will hitch a lift with him and means I can get beer in the future! Dave
  25. All the work. Insurance now have report and their engineer must review before allowing work. Cant see them writing off a 5k car for work less than 2. Will find out by the end of next week. Saved a fortune of fuel over the past week. Have a 1.4 clio and only spent a tenner! If its a write off, buying back and getting my mate to fix. Should then have 3k left over!
