I am sure that if you do this then the car needs to be registered in the Mrs's name or it will invalidate your insurance though!

Defo claim mate. I done it with North Lanarkshire a few years ago. Took many a stupid form and lots of argueing, but I got the cash after about 3 months of the incident. Luckily the roads is Falkirk dont seem to bad, but I am in cumbernauld daily and they are a feckin joke. In abronhill I spend most of the time swerving around avoiding them, probably look like a drunk driver from behind! Problem is they tend to just fill the hole, which lasts till the first heavy frost or rain before it tears up. Or even worse this crappy gravel rubbish that they leave for the cars to clear while you get stone chips in the process!!

You clearly have a shed load of experience, however I am 100% confident that the brace caused this. You know the unusal can happen. You are basically saying its impossible for a chassis to be damaged due to the brace. Well as I stated before, my mates RS trurbo was wrote off years ago. It was directly due to the brace as the vehicle investigation folk told him. They clearly stated it would not have been wrote off if it was not on at the time. Respect to your experience in the industry though. Thats me done now!

It was a year and a half ago that happened mate. Credit crunch never done it although I was made redundant three weeks ago! Double doh! Cusco - agree to disagree mate!!! Explain the huge dent in my drivers wing that never hit anythin then! That was the strut twisting out of place and hence the whole car. Exactly what happened to my mates RS turbo 15 years ago.
-
Cos the impact on the wheels when up through the brace and twisted the whole car. My mechanic came out to see car in yard and confirmed that it was twisted and that it was due to it going through the brace. Simple physics mate

Problem with the braces is that if you hit a kurb for example it goes through the whole brace and will do both in. In my case it twisted the chassis and fecked the car big time!
-
na, no one hurt -just my pride as you say. Took corner comin off M876 at larbert and hit the feckin bumps on cross over on a real slippy road which caused it to swap ends before I could react! Was repairable but cost was going to be the same as value. They never put it on a jig machine though and I know the whole chassis was twisted due to the dent on the drivers side when I had not hit anything! Just glad I never done myself in. Police said I am the first one that never ended up in the field. Had been 8 crashes there in 7 months according to them, but falkirk council wont put the sticky tarmac down till someone is killed according to him!

Oops!

Just dont go off a mototway slip road backwards like i did. It was the strut brace that caused my whole chasiss to twist when I hit the kurb on the way off! - silly boy - High performance car-low performance driver!!

Man that is so sweet that car ....man I miss the scooby!

Have to disagree. I have used them twice and they done top notch jobs on both occasions. First time was on my impreza and had a nasty dent right down to the metal. They quoted me £100 notes and the job was fantastic. Also done all the stone chips on the bonnet for nothing. Secon time was on my mates TT I was selling for him since he moved to Thailand. Feckin council truck clipped it and put a nasty 1 foot scratch and dent over the front wing going onto the door. They popped out the dent and then sprayed the whole door and wing at my house. If you know TTs the doors are huge. Again a great job and you would never know that there had ever been any damage. Just because they are the cheapest does not mean they are the worst. Dave

They Really Dont Have Anything Better To Do....
david_taylor replied to nick-21's topic in Scottish Scoobies
To be fair they are only doing their job. I have had a rant myself with a couple of traffic cops. Its a no win situation for them though. Yeah, its a pain in the ass when you get hassle for feck all. However, its when they dont hassle a member of the public who turns out to be a major criminal or that then us and the press are straight on their backs. Give them some respect guys, its a tough job, and unfortunately these days some of the scoobs attract attention. -
No real surprise I guess, but a sad day!

Some Scum Is Wrecking My Paintwork!
david_taylor replied to mystery machine's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Is your car parked within the proximity of your garden? Never had a problem with them on the motor, but one was using my front garden as a litter tray. I ended up buying a ultrasonic animal deterant online. It sends out a ultra high pitched noice which cats find irritating. Took a couple of weeks for the cats to figure out that it was always at my garden, and they now avoid it like the plague. It has a sensor that the feckers set off. I know it works because not only do I have no cat problems, but when you put the batteries in and hold it up to your face, you can make out the nasty noice just. Certainly a soloution for the garden, and maybe the car if you are in a drive, etc. Link here http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/cat-repeller-40-p-402.html -
Saying Goodbye To My Hawkeye Sl Wagon
david_taylor replied to ~ ~ Cal ~~'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
Unfortunately these actions acheive nothing, except to cause havoc for joe public. No goverment will back down to publc demand on gas guzzlers as they use that environment/save the plant p!sh. To be honest, no goverment will change this as its a easy tax disguised as a Green Tax!! I agree with Cal though, thats why I did not buy a new subaru when I killed the last one. If you use it as your 1st choice car, then its just to damn expensive to run. Especially when everything starts braking with wear and tear as mine did. £400 clutch in mine 2 weeks before I crashed! Doh! I must have spent about 1-1.5k keeping mine on the road last year just on parts and services. Since I got the trusty focus I have been saving a fortune. -
Yeah, the 22b is nasty. what you thinkin about!!

Sign up to these...I have. Doubt it will make a difference but better than doing nothing: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/UNFAIR-VED/ Against proposed changes to vahical tax http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Cut-fuel-price/ Reduce tax on petrol by 20p a litre

I used Chipsaway on a nasty dent right down to the metal on my Scooby. Done a smashing job, including re spraying the wing. Plus he will come out to your house or work. Obviously I dont know how much they can do, but must be worth a try. You can get the number from Yell

Or crashed the scooby in my case, but I am still here!

Think Stevie was gettin confused with what you meant mate! lol He has never done one himself either - just watches my cousin who does it for us! ha ha
-
You do my ass! Thats what our mechanic does while you watch! ha ha¬! Welsh - Fair point from Steve. I would have thought it impossible to drain oil without removing the plastic sump guard.
-
The amount of things broken on your shed I doubt it! Love you really though!
-
Dont paint the calipers! It will attract attention to the state of your wheels! ha ha Away back to the focus forum now!
-
Aye with some gloss paint knowing you! lol

Should have read "Usually in a mint fast as red supra, a tatty silver scooby with the worst condition alloys ever or an awsome orange 73 bug 2.1 ltr" Lol Just winding you up mate!
