  1. ...not for me. One of my friends has a P1 which is away to be running decent power, but he's wanting things to be uprated to cope with decent power which means looking at gearbox options. He isn't keen on running PPG as its a daily driver, so I told him a 6-spd was probably a better option for him. So, two questions: - How much will a complete 6-spd conversion for a P1 (modified 2.0 running 380-400) cost?? - How much will a complete 5-spd set-up from a 40k mile P1 fetch second hand?? Cheers, Grant
  2. Maybe he doesn't like the looks of the Hatch Impreza?? Good post Cal, can totally see where you're coming from unfortunately, although for different reasons, i.e I have no kids or house, but thats where I want to go and having a Scoob will slow that process down. Which is why I'm not sure I'll take the plunge and return to the fold.. I've had 5 of them and not sure I can justify having one sitting doing nothing for most of the time, since they require cash and time to keep tip top even when they're not being used!! R32 looks nice, strangely, the price of the MK5 R32 is only slightly more than people seem to be asking for the MK4 R32 which seems a little crazy?! Cheers, Grant
  3. Well I had two... both almost identical, first one came from Revolution and ended up in many pieces after I tried to plough some tarmac in the town centre and the second one was cheaper to buy from HT Autos and made from plastic rather than fibreglass so took small kerb contacts way better(almost as good quality as Revolution item too) and came through a Group Buy on Scoobynet. IIRC it cost around £100 delivered?? Also, I fitted them myself... so are definitely a simple enough job to do yourself. Cheers, Grant
  4. Picture of my old Defi Gauges in a Hawkeye STi... Cheers, Grant
  5. 2007 Subaru Impreza STi Spec G (lots of pics because I love that car!) Cheers, Grant
  6. Number 1: 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo Number 2: 1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo Number 3: 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo PPP Number 4: 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo Cheers, Grant
  7. I have driven the WRX and STi Hatch (used to work in same building as Subaru/Isuzu franchise)... the WRX really isn't my cuppa (felt almost Forester XT-like) and the STi while nice, is a bit soft for the badge and even the wide wings etc dont lift the styling enough for me. However, that sort of thing is personal preference!! Depends which camp you are in regarding the Hatch/Wagon/Estate thing, however if you search for an Impreza on eBay or Autotrader then I'm sure the Wagons are listed as Estates. Believe me, I'm not a Classic die hard (although my sig might suggest otherwise!! )... if I was ever to return to an Impreza, then I'd be going for another Hawkeye STi. Cheers, Grant
  8. I'd argue that the current Hatch was different enough to the iconic image of an 'Impreza' to be called a different name... like when the Escort changed to the Focus, it was a revolutionary change in design so needed a new fresh name, which as I said above is the same as when Subaru changed from a Saloon/Wagon to a Hatchback. I'd be very surprised if this Coupe is called an Impreza. Cheers, Grant
  9. Haha, not hard to see why there wasn't a Browneye at the COTY meeting surely?? ....I'm just jesting, before I find an Impreza Hatch Headlight on my pillow. Cheers, Grant
  10. Gav are there any early signs from the internal network about the potential price for the UK STi Coupe? Although it 'only' has 250bhp standard, we all know that can be improved on without too much hassle!! Do you know anything about transmission (6spd?) or brakes (STi Brembo?) on the car? Cheers, Grant
  11. If it looks like that, comes in a decent range of colours, has STi Power and a 6-spd box... I want one. Cheers, Grant
  12. Haha I thought you were a Classic man through and through Kev!! Didn't realise the E55 comes with 16 spark plugs either... sod that, stick to the easily changed four on the Scoob engine mate!! I've got an EK9 Civic Type R at the moment, few pics of it here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1284321.htm Cheers, Grant
  13. ScoobyKev in (potential) Browneye Buying Shocker!! Cheers, Grant
  14. A more accurate valuation depends on spec and mileage of the car.. it looks tidy enough from the pictures (with std scoop) though. Cheers, Grant
  15. Big fan of that. Cheers, Grant
  16. If you're comfortable knowing that you'll be buying a replacement gearbox (and upgrading to a 6 speed logically) and probably switching to a 2.5 bottom end to reach 400lb/ft on a 20g'd P1 then go for it... personally, I'd keep the Bugeye STi, throw a 2.5 with some decent pistons and rods at it along with your 20g and enjoy 400/400 that way. Cheers, Grant
  17. My Hawkeye STi was brilliant with 350/390... The extra torque of the 2.5 can really punt you out the other side of the corner. I think the absolute most I'd have wanted in my Newage Impreza would be 400/450, after that, it becomes a little silly trying to use it properly on the roads IMO. If I was ever to return to a UK/WRX Impreza, then it'd likely be 300/300 with a TD04 Hybrid. With the UK gear ratios it would make for a really quick point to point car with little worry about ****ting gearboxes etc. Cheers, Grant
  18. I'll definitely be there as long as its not raining... but I'll also definitely not be racing either. Cheers, Grant
  19. Are you going to go for a 'bang bang' box, a sequential hardcore, serious money box?? IMO this car is transforming into The Gobstoppers Newage Brother with the brilliant looks, mega sound, serious spec etc. Cheers, Grant
  20. Good news you're keeping it mate.. Cheers, Grant
  21. Brilliant, thanks for the info guys... will possibly head along to the Track Scotland event in November, gotta make sure the car's up to the job first. Cheers, Grant
  22. Am I right thinking that there are no more SIDC events this year?? ......what other events are ok for taking a car you care about on?? Cheers, Grant
  23. Yup, I'm very sure the 2.5 have unequal as standard too. Just fling some ported OE headers on there, unless you're going for serious power then thats all you'll probably need. Cheers, Grant
  24. Oh bugger... fingers crossed its not rattled around and damaged other things for you mate!! Cheers, Grant
  25. How come you aren't a fan, whats wrong with the car Col?? Cheers, Grant
