  1. Thanks guys.. 'tis defo a clean one. MM, if we're talking Knockhill MPG, then the SpecG Hawk struggled to do more than 90 miles (including the trip from Dundee) to a tank!! Dale, you're right..... I honestly had disregarded another Classic and was planning to go the sensible route of A4 Avant, BMW Touring etc.. however.. this one popped up and has had quite a bit of cash money spent on sensible upgrades already, in addition to quite a tidy 'OE' spec too. So I couldn't say no. Cheers, Grant
  2. Went down at the weekend and bought Impreza No. 6 from Englandshire... needs a couple of small jobs done and maybe a few small mods to make it mine and put an even bigger smile on my face!! But, gotta say, its nice to be back!! ...it even manages 300 miles to a tank of fuel which is roughly twice what my old Hawkeye did?! MY00 UK Turbo PPP+ Cheers, Grant
  3. Brilliant, thanks for the quick reply mate!! I've just spoken to the man himself... gonna pass the info onto my mate and let him and Steve work out the details from here. Cheers, Grant
  4. Fitted my 6k HIDs this afternoon... can't wait to see the difference when I go out later!! Cheers, Grant
  5. ...Steve Whitson (think thats how you spell his name) please, both a work/mobile number would be great cause a friend is looking at options to get a bit of engine work done on his STi V4 as soon as possible and without being bent over by 'specialists' and paying over and above the going rate. Cheers, Grant
  6. Need to check the offset and if they'd clear Brembo Brakes (if you have them) but yea 5x100 is the correct stud pattern for your car mate. Cheers, Grant
  7. Depends on the condition of your 4-pots I suppose.. if you need them rebuilt etc then you'll not be far off a K-Sport Kit, but if they're in fine fettle and you really don't use the car to its potential then uprating the discs and pads would be fine. I had Godspeed Grooved Discs and Mintex 1144 on the front of my first MY99 and they were plenty good enough for fast road use. Cheers, Grant
  8. A replacement 330mm K-Sport Kit would be plenty, getting them on a Group Buy over on Scoobynet just now. Then some OE Discs and Uprated Pads on the rear and it'll sharpen things up very nicely. Cheers, Grant
  9. If someone could ring 999 that would be appreciated... I'm away to fall off my chair and pass out now. ........*thud* Cheers, Grant
  10. All the best Gus... you'll be the first RO to change his car for every meet I think. Cheers, Grant
  11. Things are alright with me Gav, considering a return to the fold (which I said I wouldn't do) now that my EK9 has gone, however not sure I can find anything that floats my boat for the budget... and the cash is beginning to burn a bit of a hole in my pocket, so been prowling Pistonheads, Autotrader, SN, SIDC, etc for the past wee while!! Greig, sorry to hear the car isn't running right, whats up with it? From what you said, if he gave it a wash then it might feel a bit quicker after losing all the mud and dirt its picked up over the past few months since its previous wash!! Cheers, Grant
  12. I'd go with the 'stat too mate. Cheers, Grant
  13. Interesting read... seem to be a few people getting their knickers in a twist, but trying desperately not to show it!! Price, fully checkable history, comprehensive warranty and insurance costs are all factors which attracted me to my previous five Imprezas.. all of which have been UK models. Performance is obviously different between models, 70-80bhp is gonna move you along the road a little quicker, specially with a better spec of turbo and quicker gearchanges.. however personally, I love the UK Turbo 5-speed ratios I had in my cars and think they're brilliantly spaced for a punchy (once modified) 280-300bhp back road point to point car. The JDM stuff that I've driven seems to require a fair bit more changing to keep things on the boil, and I'm lazy, so I didn't see that as a positive. Would I buy a JDM over a UK model should I fancy some Flat 4 Love again....... possibly, I'd certainly not rule it out because I'm 26, I could insure either model which is something I couldn't have done when I got my first UK Turbo at 19yrs old!! But since I wouldn't be tuning the thing to the lateral hills, hiding under a twisted tree, in a chy storm with andyF fog or whatever you boys say... I'd base any decision on condition, price, history etc etc and the UK/JDM thing wouldn't really come into it if I'm honest. Cheers, Grant
  14. Nope, sold it about a year ago now... and have been on Pistonheads tempting myself with a replacement over the past year!! Cheers, Grant
  15. At least its only temporary with you mate!! ....some of us haven't got that to look forward to!! Cheers, Grant
  16. Hayward and Scott is decent stuff, good fit, good finish and nice (varying levels) of sound depending which system you go for. Cheers, Grant
  17. Trackhound is on here isn't he... Cheers, Grant
  18. You must be crazy to think about punting the Z4M for an Impreza buddy... that BM looks absolutely spot on and I bet its a good drive too. Cheers, Grant
  19. Fun: My first Impreza, MY99 Turbo @ 19/20years old, I had a LOT of fun in that car!! Memories: S2 RS Turbo, 1 of 8 on a J-Plate, regret selling that car. Overall: My last Impreza, MY07 STi Spec G... did everything so well, regret selling that car the most of anything I've owned and sold. Cheers, Grant
  20. ...not for me. One of my friends has a P1 which is away to be running decent power, but he's wanting things to be uprated to cope with decent power which means looking at gearbox options. He isn't keen on running PPG as its a daily driver, so I told him a 6-spd was probably a better option for him. So, two questions: - How much will a complete 6-spd conversion for a P1 (modified 2.0 running 380-400) cost?? - How much will a complete 5-spd set-up from a 40k mile P1 fetch second hand?? Cheers, Grant
  21. Maybe he doesn't like the looks of the Hatch Impreza?? Good post Cal, can totally see where you're coming from unfortunately, although for different reasons, i.e I have no kids or house, but thats where I want to go and having a Scoob will slow that process down. Which is why I'm not sure I'll take the plunge and return to the fold.. I've had 5 of them and not sure I can justify having one sitting doing nothing for most of the time, since they require cash and time to keep tip top even when they're not being used!! R32 looks nice, strangely, the price of the MK5 R32 is only slightly more than people seem to be asking for the MK4 R32 which seems a little crazy?! Cheers, Grant
  22. Well I had two... both almost identical, first one came from Revolution and ended up in many pieces after I tried to plough some tarmac in the town centre and the second one was cheaper to buy from HT Autos and made from plastic rather than fibreglass so took small kerb contacts way better(almost as good quality as Revolution item too) and came through a Group Buy on Scoobynet. IIRC it cost around £100 delivered?? Also, I fitted them myself... so are definitely a simple enough job to do yourself. Cheers, Grant
  23. Picture of my old Defi Gauges in a Hawkeye STi... Cheers, Grant
