  1. Without question.... Hawkeye STi, basic stage 1 mods to 360/400 and ones you get bored crack the block open and fit some decent internals, bolt on a 321 and enjoy some mega performance. Cheers, Grant
  2. That looks really nice mate, always good picking up someones elses project thats been done properly so you can put your own wee twist on it and finish off to your own spec. Sounds like a lot of gucci bits came with it, glad your back on track after the Bug. Cheers, Grant
  3. Gizza a wee pic or two and a description of where you found it, spec etc of the project car Jim, I'm not such a regular browser of SS just now and must have missed you putting a thread up.. Cheers, Grant
  4. Click for Snake Oil Cheers, Grant
  5. The Dentist maps these cars mostly, nice choice of car too... IIRC you should see about 390 of both once mapped up in that car. Cheers, Grant
  6. Don't be shy Stoo, get yourself a Sports CAT/De-Cat Downpipe fitted.. the inlet into the stock downpipe is very tight, so defo worth getting it changed to make the most of your re-map with Andy. Plus, if you fit a Sports CAT then you wont need to worry come MOT time. I travelled to Meercat to get a full system made up and would totally go back again if I needed another exhaust done, the quality of work is worth the trip through IMO... my friend I was telling you about bought a Japspeed 3" Sports CAT downpipe and got Checkpoint in Arbroath to fit it up on his Hawkeye STi before he got it mapped at Andys. Cheers, Grant
  7. If you're going to the hassle of fitting the 2.5 engine then I would definitely stretch that little bit further and fit uprated pistons and rods at the same time... makes more sense IMO. You will need to get the car custom mapped for the conversion though, even when running it in. I know a guy up north who didn't do this and ruined a perfectly good RCM 2.5 by running it on stock ECU while he was breaking the engine in. I drove a 2.5 Classic with a 20g and an STi V5 Gearbox/Diffs.... it was mentally quick, so I'm guessing it'll be even faster in a TypeR. Cheers, Grant
  8. That scoob is a total bargain IMO. Fingers crossed for you buddy. Cheers, Grant
  9. Couple of bits that I'd change, but any deal where you go from a french car to an Impreza is a great deal in my eyes. Cheers, Grant
  10. Make sure you get a lead thrown into the deal, cause the crank on the EVO 4 engines like to go for a walk. I'm not a big EVO fan but if I was to go for one then it would be an EVO 6 Tommi Makkinen or an EVO 8 FQ-MR that I'd be looking for. Cheers, Grant
  11. Welcome back Clarkesan... probably about time to move onto something else, maybe with a larger capacity engine, maybe some leather recaros and probably with a blue oval on the bonnet. The stage is set... its time for a dealio on the ST200. Cheers, Grant
  12. Awww, the rear lights arent included... what a damned shame!! IMO, thats a 6k car. Possibly a few hundred note more if its in really good condition and has reciepts for mods, including the mega money double plate clutch. Cheers, Grant
  13. Haha, greatly appreciated Cheers, Grant
  14. Errr, the Power FC? Cheers, Grant
  15. Reminds me of a small Defi Unit for gauges?? **edit** could be something to do with an AVC-R though, since I think you have one of those also?? Cheers, Grant
  16. Is that a port for a piece of vacuum tubing on the bottom Rich? Cheers, Grant
  17. DCCD made little or no difference for me on track days, you'd have to be a severely talented driver to make the most out of such a small feature IMO, either that or a little delusional in believing that its helps you along to any great degree. Anyway, I'm not going to clutter up the guys thread with a proper reply challenging the fact that apparently an STi is the only choice for track work, I don't agree, so we'll just leave it at that. Cheers, Grant
  18. Dont think it'll make much difference going for a WRX RA over an STi RA since it sounds like Tommo just fancies a blast around Knockie on SIDC days, I'd rather buy on general condition and history than what badge its got. Tidy looking car though, good base for a few mods and I'm sure you'll have good fun in it. Cheers, Grant
  19. Aye no bother, I'll fire some details your way in a minute Gary... he's picking up his new car on September 1st, so time-wise something could well be worked out I'm sure. Cheers, Grant
  20. IMO, its a 12k car tops... any more and I'd be looking into a Hawkeye STi instead. One of my friends is selling his Stage 1 (Exhaust, Pump, Filter & Mapped) Hawkeye STi in the near future and he doesnt even want that much!? Cheers, Grant
  21. If you do all this to your 2005 STi then you're going to massively cut down the potential buyers when you do come to sell it... thats a big concern that I'd have in your position, however, if you plan to keep it until the end of time then its neither here nor there I suppose. Cheers, Grant
  22. Know the car, tis a good WRX that... glad to see its still in the club as well. Cheers, Grant
  23. Car looks familiar, did you buy it from a guy called Craig?? I love taking a drive when the weather is nice, we've got the great roads, its just rare to get the good weather too. Cheers, Grant
  24. IM not being red is strange, if you're spending 4k+ on an engine rebuild.. then why not throw a little more into the pot and get the IM re-painted while its all off?? Looks like the car has enjoyed a few 100mph+ blasts too going by the fact that the top mount has quite a lot of bent fins on it... could be a good one though, defo worth an ask on the P1WOC to see if someone more local used to own/know the owner of the car. Cheers, Grant
  25. Not a fan of the front bumper intakes... but the rear wing supports fit in perfectly IMO. All that car needs is an uber-rare Prodrive Style front bumper and it would finish the car off perfectly. Cheers, Grant
