  1. Part of me is thinking about stripping my car and selling it as a low mileage 'standard' UK Turbo rather than in the state of tune that it sits currently.. do you guys think thats a sensible approach or not?? Its got a JDM 6-speed conversion, Defis, APS TMIC, Blitz NUR Spec R Exhaust, Sports CAT, Prodrive Spoiler, OEM Leather, P1 Splitter, VF34, etc which could all be removed.. sold/part exchanged for standard bits + cash. That way, I could be free enough to sell the base car for cheap enough or even trade it in without feeling like I've given away something quite as special as it is just now. Cheers, Grant
  2. Geoff, why a P1... surely a nice 4dr UK Turbo with 51k miles and a whole load of expensive bits fitted and a folder of history is a better bet?? Cheers, Grant
  3. Very sad news Callum, I'm sure you realise the main thing is that you and your passenger are safe, but it won't make you feel any better about losing the car. Cheers, Grant
  4. That sounds epic and they are both two essential mods to a CSL too. Incorrect JW, he should be looking at going back to his Classic roots withs omething like this: http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=146256 Cheers, Grant
  5. Christ almighty... thats a ridiculously low price for such a capable car, unless its got about 150k miles on it?! Cheers, Grant
  6. Have pinged you a PM about it buddy. Cheers, Grant
  7. I've got a mint classic for sale, locally too.. would save you quite a bit of cash for a monster engine spec once you get bored of the 340bhp, the transmission is already in there to take north of 500bhp, so its just the engine spec that needs to be upgraded to whatever level you choose. Its even got a P1 front splitter. Cheers, Grant
  8. Whats the mileage on the car mate?? Cheers, Grant
  9. When I ran my standard STi Spec D at Crail, the best time I managed was a 13.0... forget the terminal speed. That was without being mapped/PPP'd or anything. IIRC it made 303bhp @ Wallace Performance Dyno Day as standard. Cheers, Grant
  10. Still heading up... will be in the DBM Classic with reg B19 GDF. Cheers, Grant
  11. I'm so glad I was part of the de-lexus'ing and de-spoilering process... I even saved you some more weight when I lost a nut from the light cluster, every little helps. Cheers, Grant
  12. Could of at least de-tango'd the lights Pedro... Cheers, Grant
  13. Matt Black looks a bit council on older cars... newer cars get away with it, Focus RS500, 997 Porsche etc. Cheers, Grant
  14. Think I'll take a wee drive down to this. Cheers, Grant
  15. I'm keen to see a photoshop, but it sounds a bit max power to me buddy... possible re-think required IMO. Cheers, Grant
  16. I think it'd look pretty good lowered, with a front lip and some beefier wheels. Any price/spec details for this Gav?? Cheers, Grant
  17. Are these the bits you said you'd just bought but due to unforseen circumstances, needed to sell again mate... shame... but hey, at least as a member you'll be able to sell them here. Cheers, Grant
  18. I think you boys are off your rockers, but I'm glad guys like you push the boundaries... because normal joes that sh!t an engine and require uprated parts can then buy the bits knowing that running them at 60-70% of what has been proven to work is the way to having a safe car. Cheers, Grant
  19. To the original poster, if you wanna pull the posh poontang in St Andrews... its gotta be one of your german choices (or maybe a Honda S2000 as a jap alternative??) but if you're going to spend a lot of time on the internet visiting 'specialist' sites that cater for single gentlemen then it wont matter what you drive.. so best thing to do would be to take a drive of a few cars that interest you and make your mind up from there. In my opinion, if an M3 or Boxster is out of your league back home, then why not give one of those a try over here?? To be honest, I've driven the E46 M3 recently and it absolutely won me over... in fact, after a drive in a 'normal' M3, my Impreza was put up for sale. I had the intention of spunking serious cash in the direction of an M3 CSL, however, I've thought better of it and decided that over 25k on a car which will get light use is a bit much for me to consider seriously. However, I would absolutely buy a 'normal' E46 M3. Ok, in a straight line, my Classic would beat it... but the RWD balance and direct steering make it far from a poor tool around the bends. In fact, on quick A-road, the Impreza would have to either be far more powerful or have a much more talented driver to pull any meaningful distance on the M3........ where the Scoob (and Evo) come into their own, is on the b-roads and unclassified roads where there are lumps, yumps and bumps a plenty and their rally derived set-up can start to show a clear advantage over the more top end cars which dont have so much compliance over these surfaces. A big plus point for me was the feeling of quality you get in the BMW, which is many, many leagues ahead of an Impreza (IMO). Cheers, Grant
  20. Depends on how long you are planning to keep the car and what sort of power level you want to run. Cheers, Grant
  21. Thanks Billy, they look great. Cheers, Grant
  22. Well I wouldn't want the guys to have to chop up my Blitz exhaust to get a Meercat backbox fitted, so if the Blitz is coming off, then I'd be selling it as a CAT back system... meaning that I'd need a centre and backbox from Meercat mate, but I'm really not sure that the car would be running as it was on the Blitz, so that means I'd need a map tweak...... which I'm not too keen on, since I love how the car drives currently. Cheers, Grant
  23. Thinking about sacking off the Blitz NUR on my car. If the exhaust is changed from the downpipe back, will I require a re-map, its something which I'm not 100% about because of the difference in flow etc... and don't want to screw up my car just to make it a little quieter. Cheers, Grant
  24. Glad to see the car is being looked after Billy... I have got some Godspeed Discs and Pads waiting to fit to mine, so might be tempted to get the calipers done at the same time and make sure they are 100% tip top. Who did the refurb on the calipers?? Is it a 'standard' refurb, or have the pistons been upgraded to stop corrosion in the future?? Cheers, Grant
  25. Depends what you want it for I suppose, a few of the guys on Passionford have ordered these RS500s and I'm guessing that they're going to hold onto them for a while.. I guess they have seen what happened with the previous limited run RS500 (Sierra Cosworth Based in 1987) and think that the same will happen here in the future. A mint version of a 3dr Cosworth would cost 15k max, where as an equally mint version of a Sierra RS500 would cost 25k minimum. Essentially (if both standard) they put out nearly the same figures and save a couple of small styling tweaks, look identical, but the value on the RS500 has stayed really strong. I'm not suggesting that this Focus RS500 will become as iconic as the Sierra RS500 (I don't think it'll be anywhere near as dominant in motorsport for a kick off..) but being a limited run with the RS500 badge, it could become a bit of a depreciation dodger. IF.. I found myself in the market for a Focus RS, then I'd be going for a 'normal' version and getting the Mountune Package fitted. I dont hold onto cars long enough to be concerned about long term desireability like a hardcore enthusiast for the brand would. Cheers, Grant
