About Impreza_Noobie

  1. Cheers mate, appreciate it. I gave Admiral a try via online quote and was forced to choose comprehensive option (4400 quid) for 987 Boxster S. I will stick with Third party fire and theft and this should hopefully meet my limited budget of 3000 pounds .
  2. A quick bump to freshen up this post - my flight to the UK has been confirmed (20th August 2010). The only sad news is my STi has been sold; in fact, it was sold within 3 hours after my advertisement went online. And to worsen my temporary pessimistic attitude: I am still caught up with insurance quotes that would violently break an arm and a leg. I have not secured an accommodation in Fife simply because it is very difficult to rent a house which has a garage! It is rather preposterous to put garage on the top of the list and use it as the main criteria in finding an ideal house. However, I was convinced this is the only method to reduce insurance costs. On a side note, I had asked my insurance company (based in Bangkok) to issue a NCB statement and I pray this can be put to good use in the UK. I really need to get in touch with an insurer who is able to provide a bespoke quote which fits my circumstances. Cheers PS. I had received additional budget from selling the scoobie and may be looking into Boxster 987 S (2005).
  3. I have to sell the car in order to fund my postgraduate education. Another ridiculous thing about my country is the fact that cars with an excess hp of 220 will face 300% tax. Nope, I did not overtype a zero. For instance, the retail price of a new STi, in Thailand, is around 79,000 pounds. A used blob-eye STi still costs at least 30,000 pounds. A brand spanking new E92 M3? 170,000 quid. With that in mind, I'm afraid it is not possible to ship my car to Scotland . Prior owning the blob-eye STi, I owned a V6 STi and occasionally drove E46 330i. I would definitely choose the scooby - be it classic age or the GDB chassis - over the 330i any day. Writing this intensifies my love with the scooby and reminds me how much I will miss it. Cheers
  4. Cheers lads, I have read every single comment and will definitely keep them in my long-term memory. My 3-month hourglass has begun its count down. I'm still trying very hard to get over my current STi and put it on sale - I am emotionally attached to the scooby; most you blokes would probably understand. My biggest concern is the insurance. It is ludicrously expensive - Confused.com gave me the cheapest quote of 3700 quid for a 2005 PPP blob-eye STi; not to mention it is a third party only. From this stand point, it seems my chance of buying another scooby is quite slim. And it gets slimmer when the cheapest quote I obtained was for a Boxster S 986 (3000 quid). Does anybody know a person who can offer a cheaper rate for such car? I'm not sure if there is a possibility to cut a hefty sum off my current quote. I would be more than happy to pay 2000 quid or less. Cheers
  5. 124 Pence That's ridiculous. What has Brown done? Does bad weather hit Scotland often? That's good news! In that sense, Scooby is on the top of my list. I will definitely keep you posted about my plans. Cheers mate.
  6. Hi guys I will be in the UK to study for my Masters degree on September this year. I'm a Thai citizen who currently owns a 2003 STi. I will have to part from my car as soon as I leave my country and would certainly miss it a lot. Therefore, I am contemplating buying another STi once I arrive in the UK. I would appreciate your answers based on these questions: 1. Due to their price similarities, why should I not purchase BMW E46 M3 or Porsche Boxster S 986 over the STi? Please note that, in my country, a Boxsters and an M3 cost two to three times more than a STi. 2. Is a STi an 'attention-getter' or rarer when compared to the latter cars mentioned in the first question? 3. What are the substantial benefits of a 2005 Litchfield Type 20 over 2005 PPP STi? Additional comments which may be relevant to my enquiries are welcomed! Cheers
