....will hurt you, once she finds out or hears a sketchy account of why the new Subaru limped home without brakes/clutch/tyres after you were only 'popping out' for a bit. Cheers, Grant

Haha, I noticed an enquiry about an orange-style sunstrip recently... so I'm just winding him up!! Cheers, Grant
-
.........as long as you've steered clear of orange graphics, you'll be fine JW. Cheers, Grant

Not sure where all that came from.. depending how you read it, you could say it was a bit more blunt than normal but I'm positive there was no bad feeling in the comment that Iain made. Cheers, Grant

I think that the A-Line was available in just Black and Grey... The "0" on the interior shot makes me think its a GB270, plus the wheels and colour coded front splitter are straight from the GB270 too. Then again, he put pics of the Legacy TD up as well........ so this could just be another curveball, I thought that the OP had gotten as much mileage out of this thread as possible and decided to ignore the thread until the confirmation happened, but I've failed. Cheers, Grant

I'm going for a GB270 saloon... nice choice, bit of added go/show over the standard WRX. Cheers, Grant

What are the symptoms... or is it a really noticeable knocking noise from them that even I couldn't miss?? Cheers, Grant

I used to work for John R Weir through in Perth as part of the Sales Team... however I (and two other Salesmen) left after a series of poor management decisions and a massive drop in morale in all departments. I have since been back up to see the guys I worked with in Sales and I was spotted talking to the guys by my old Manager. Despite talking about the New STi and arrival date for the Legacy Tourer TDi so that I could get my old dear in for a test-drive, the manager came over and she said: "John Weir can pick and choose who he deals with and he has said to me that he doesn't wish to deal with you, so get out of the Dealership right now and dont come back" So, as a result, I will no longer be taking the Spec-G there for servicing and my mum will definitely not be buying from them if she does decide to come into the boxer fold... and have had a letter from Subaru UK confirming that my warranty will still be intact if I use a reputable garage that uses OE-standard parts for servicing. Hence why I'm going to be booking into Hypertech for the cars first year service. Cheers, Grant

Wow, thats seriously low mileage to get 'the knocking' guys... 4000 miles and 2600 miles, interesting that its both GB270s that are effected though, I havent heard any other Hawkeye owners having these problems so early on. Cheers, Grant

Been rumoured before... I would like to see it happen, although not under the same management as the one in Perth preferrably otherwise I wont be allowed to set foot in there. Auto-Ecosse is quite a small showroom though. As far as I know, the VW garage is set to move do Riverside along with all the other Barnetts franchises, so might be worth a move to their old showroom off the Lochee Rd. Cheers, Grant

"This car that is built together by Toyota and (Toyota-owned) Subaru will probably be called Toyota in Japan, and Subaru in the rest of the world. Model names are still unknown, but it has leaked out that the engine will be a 2.0 litre boxer engine with about 220 horsepower. Through a six-speed gearbox it will then send the power to the rear wheels. Together with low weight that will probably make the new coupe a “drift” happy toy. Not only the drifting will make you smile, the price will start under $20.000, and that will also make you happy" Does that mean that members buying a UK Model will be good to stay but people buying a JDM Import of this will have to leave and join a Toyota Forum?? WRX power level, 6-spd (maybe from STi??) and RWD will be a decent combination... Cheers, Grant

Bit of a funky photoshop there... has a vauxhall plate on it, possibly part of the bumper from the VXR8 been chopped around to fit? I think the 180bhp, RWD 'entry-level' model will be a blast... just hope they stick a Limited Slip Diff in it and dont make it too heavy. Chances are that it'll have an open diff and weigh around 1600kg though, manufacturers seem to think bigger is better these days and dont appear fussed with driver enjoyment at all. Cheers, Grant

Could try Barry @ National Tyres on Strathmartine Rd... if you tell him that Grant with Scooby/Mister G sent you then he'll sort you out if he's got time. Alternatively, a wee bit outside Dundee, Checkpoint in arbroath would do it too. Cheers, Grant

Found A P P G Gearbox (well Playsatan2 Did!)
RS Grant replied to thewelsho's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Yea its a 2.5 STi that I've got.. never realised it was the same ratios as the JDM Forrester STi. Peter, that would kinda work out I suppose, as it sits just around the M of MPH...... which if you take into consideration the speedo over-reading, would probably be around a genuine 157mph. Part of me wonders what I could get to with the extra 1000rpm and then the other part knows that there is hardly any chance to find out even if it was 'unlocked' at mapping time. I think that the standard figures for a Hawkeye STi is a top speed of 157mph. Cheers, Grant -

I cant pull past 6k in 6th in mine... its like there is a limiter on there that it keeps hitting, slowing down, then bumping into again if you keep it planted, at that speed its no longer reading numbers on the speedo so no idea what indicated speed that would be. Cheers, Grant -
.........didn't take long to get there Ciaran. :D I really like the RB5, looks like a good one you've got, couple of pricey upgrades fitted too. Cheers, Grant

Yea, I think thats what Colin meant.. IIRC, the Blobeye STi will rev to c8k limit and the Hawkeye STi revs to 7k max. For what its worth, if money was no object, I'd punt my 6-spd set-up and drop in an uprated 5-spd set-up in my car just like Mr F has done. I much prefer the ratios... I really miss the UK 5-spd that I was used to in my old UK Turbos and find myself snatching gears a lot more in the Spec-G with the 6-spd, although the remap has helped as there is a good wave of torque to fall back on when you cant be ar$ed and arent in the mood to 'drive' the car. Are the alloys on your Type-R not re-finished Radius R3s mate... Cheers, Grant

Sun 8th June Sun 6th July Sun 3rd August Sun 17th August Sun 14th September Sun 12th October Sun 9th November Sun 23rd November They are the remaining 'normal' thrash days at Crail for this year... obviously some are waaaay away, I'd guess that popular choices will be the July/August dates so that the weather is still good for this and people arent waiting too long for this to kick off. Would be nice to invite the MLR along again, end of the day, if they dont show then it'll be Scoobs everywhere.. but if they do show, then we'll get some decent competition on the day rather than 1.1 Saxos and Corsas. Cheers, Grant
-
Yea, I'd be up for it..... guessing we'd just organise to meet up and decend on a 'normal' Crail Thrash then?? They're the best as not a huge amount of people turn up to them. Cheers, Grant

Holy sh!t, the fastest I've EVER seen up at Crail was a 1.6 60ft when one of my mates had a GT4 that launched hard.. a 1.4 is extremely impressive, specially considering the less than specialised surface at Crail and the power you're putting down Peter. Cheers, Grant
