Who'd have thought Lisa Rogers would get all soft n sensitive - typical lads mag fodder back in the day A sexy bird and no mistake - remember her on Under the Moon?
-
Ah well Such a big site and I did a quick scan for time lapse... hehe

I'll have the Alpine - they look so cool

I think you'll find that something will no doubt have been planned and organised already - no way would anyone let an opportunity like this pass without finding out about how to register the attempt at one or more records that day;) I hope it's not most speeding tickets ever issued in one day (I know there is a 60mph limit but it was just a wee joke!)

Cheers Al, thought you may pop up Getting 3G discs with the Ferrodo pads
-
Sorry to ask a stupid question but I am trying to order new discs for my WRX and I have given the chassis number to the guy and he is saying that the front discs have a choice of 2, 289mm or 295mm. What would be on my MY03?

something was happening on the M8/M9 today and I saw an unmarked Saab estate (sort of dark grey colour) flying down the M9 with just the lights in the grill. Traffic car then?
-
Possibly, but apparently in safe mode the ECU throws extra petrol into the mix just in case so it would smell strongly anyway. I just had a look at the sensor and noticed that the bracket which holds it on to the manifold is hanging loose so it may even just be a broken wire which would be a nice cheap fix hopefully!

Cheers for all the info and thanks to Mike for the s/w Turns out it was just my lambda sensor So just need to find a replacement.
-
Just been to Hypertech and it's just my lambda sensor We had a look on Roger Clark site but they never had any listed - where else could I get one? Duncan recommended not using a universal one from the motor factors. I'll phone Nobles too I suppose. After having a Jap import previously, I have an issue with main dealers and their prices lol In saying that I have not tried any Subaru ones yet...so I'll reserve judgement

aha...I wondered if there was a way to get the codes without the OBD2 - my old FTO was the same - just had to eart out one pin on the plug and the dash lights would flash! Does this method work on newage cars? I thought I had read somewhere that only classics had this diagnostic method.

Hi all, I was trying to read some error codes from my car and wondered if anyone could suggest why I am not getting a connection. I am using an OBD2 plug I got from my m8 and it works fine on cars he fixes etc...it connects to the PC using a serial port but he uses a USB-Serial adapter cable (with a driver for XP) and when I run Digimoto or ProScan it says interface unknown. I am using the right COM port settings etc but wondered if the ECUTEK that's in my car is NOT readable by standard software or if it is locked in some way by the tuner who installs it. TBH I don't think that's the case as you'd not be able to get error codes checked or cleared at other garages but it's just a question so I can cross it off my list of potential solutions. One garage quoted £50 to read and clear the error code but I thought I'd try to at least see the code myself before paying that out - especially if it's just something small. Luckily Hypertech are only £30 so I may just take a trip thru there today. The car is driving fine and just smells rich but I was told that's what it's supposed to do in safe mode. The other thing my mechanic m8 did notice was a strong smell of oil when I pulled away so he was suggesting piston rings possibly....would the CEL come on for something like that or could the excess oil be due to a sensor failing?

What's with the strange use of caps in the middle of sentences? Are you sure it's legit? Not someone having a laugh?
-
aye Mike - that would be great. Can you send it to my GMail? pmacFTO "a_t" gmail.com if you don't mind The car is smelling pretty strong of petrol today (and last night) - even my workmate noticed it when we went to get lunch today....
-
ok - I did read somewhere that 3 starts can switch off the light....NASIOC I think. I'll get it checked then - better safe than sorry!
-
Well the car already has DOT 5 on it as Irish Al (previous owner!) said earlier. If you reckon it's not needed I'll get it flushed and go back to the other stuff...but I'll get Hypertech's opinion on that too The brakes don't get a hard time particularly.
-
Sod's Law eh....started it up today and no light lol - are they prone to false readings sometimes?
-
Cheers all

What interface does the WRX have for diagnostics? My m8 has an OBD2 device but he has not got the software for the scoob - is there anything we can download? And...anyone know what Hypertech or Extreme charge forthe diagnostic? I need some work done anyway so may as well get it all done at once...thank god I just got paid for a nice big freelance office networking job! lol

I had the car serviced last week and today I have an orange warning light on (above the temp gauge) I called Hypertech to ask if I could drive it home ok (had the kids in the car) but they just said to bring it in for diagnostics...is there anything I can check for before I take it to them? I assume thats the engine warning light? I drove in to Edinburgh no problems this morning then when I got in the car to come home the light was on and has not gone off since. The service was just an oil change (and some new uprated droplinks ) - changed from 10w60 to another grade as advised by Duncan - the car has not been feeling very smooth and sometimes hesitant (very slightly) if you hold the revs steady or put the foot down. Are there any pipes I can check that may not be plugged in properly or erm...anything?? lol btw - I am not attributing this to the service! Just giving the background to what has been done recently. Duncan also mentioned the diff seal was leaking but I wouldn't imagine the engine light would warn of that getting too low! He also said coolant was low but temp on the car is sitting well below half way point and oil pressure and temp seem normal going by the aftermarket gauges. It's a MY03 WRX with a few mods and Andy F remap if that's relevant. EDIT: Just looked thru the manual and saw it mentions emissions - the cats are removed and the CEL fix was applied in the past if that has any bearing too!

Excuse my ignorance - the Scoob is my first AWD car so I need to know if you have to have the same stopping power on all brakes or if you can stick standard pads and discs on the rear but uprate the fronts. I am running almost 300BHP and need new fronts - what do you guys recommend as a good combo - I don't drive that hard tbh and have had the best experience with Ferrodos on my FTO with Red Stuff a close second. My car is a newage (MY03) WRX. I am not looking to move up to a big brake kit tho - just discs and pads. Also - anyone selling any locally Thanks in advance
