erm...solved it...and I am not too embarrassed to share it with u all The cause of the squeaking in my Subaru!! My son's toy car!! It was under my seat and every time I went round a corner it rolled and made a squeak....was driving me mad and I thought it was something wrong with my steering rack! lol FFS!! At least it's a cheap fix

lol - I do have a fully decatted 3" exhaust Sadly I have standard HU and crap original speakers...so turning it up is not an option

Cos I feel these 19"s tramline a lot and the really low profile doesn't leave much room when cornering or even going round a roundabout with a bit of speed - I am sure I have heard the scrape of metal on the road when cornering with a bit of pace! - I'll see what Cusco Kid thinks on Sunday. I also don't like the arches being filled quite so much with wheel!! lol I hope Irish Al doesn't read this!

It's quite a quiet light squeak so I know it's nothing heavy like suspension etc. And it does sound like it is in the car but I know these things can be deceptive. Where are the steering rack bushes and could I lube them just now to see if it affects the noise? It only started last week.

I love white wheels and decided to look on Ebay for some - I found this pic luckily which is exactly like my car and has the white wheels on it so I can see what it will look like (and I like it!) I also have an STi 8 spoiler in the garage waiting to go on. Are there any others with white wheels on a WR Blue Newage? I need to see what other styles of wheel will look like altho I do like those pictured.

Are there any known issues with the steering rack on the newage (MY03)? Mine has just started squeaking when you turn it left or right but only squaks again once you turn it the opposite way from the first turn if that makes any sense! Seems to only do it under load - i.e. I can't make it squeak whilst sitting still. Does seem to do it more at low speeds tho. Anything I can check? (Altho I am going thru to see Cusco Kid on Sunday to see about handling mods )

Got one from the local jewellers Was worried it would be a specialist expensive Subaru part It's working now

I have not been able to lock the car with the fob since yesterday so have been using the key - when I come back to the car I use the key again but I was also able to use the fob to de-immobilise the car but now it's just not working at all. I am at work and the car won't start as the immobiliser is enabled. I HOPE that's all it is! Radio and lights etc are fine so the battery is not flat. Where do I get a replacement battery for an MY03 WRX key fob, apart from a main dealer of course! The wife is going to check to see if I got a spare key with the car but if not I am a bit stuck. To top it off the fob has a wee phillips screw in it but it's a bit worn and I was having problems removing it!! Grrr.... Any help appreciated EDIT - just found out it's a CR1620 and judging by Ebay it's pretty common - will try the jewellers up the road.

hmm...if it's pouring with rain you are exposing the whole side of the car to getting soaked. If those pretty lassies on their posh night out get back in that at the end and are sozzled I can see them all falling out the car when the whole side of it dissapears and there is no pillar to hang on to!! lol
