.............sometimes i wonder why i'm in the motortrade!!!
Let me start..................why is it 'hardly comparable' as new car sales have slowed it is understandable to most that there will and would be a shortage of good used cars, therefore,it can only increase the used values of vehicles as demand outstrips supply. Why you think a dealer would want a px one day and not the next amazes me,if anything i would say that Subarus are much more desirable than most and as such i would be more than happy to pay well into book for the rite car,you only have to go onto autotrader to see the lack of stock,do a dealer network search and see some of the prices that dealers are asking,i was selling foresters in december for £9995,today i cant buy them trade for that.
With regards to your Fathers RR Sport, why a dealer would offer you £6000 behind book is beyond me,especially when the deals that were on RR's have all but gone, unless its in an undesirable colour with cloth, but even then its still not £6k behind book.
I have proved the point today with my X5,the car books at £15475@40k,the best bid i have had so far selling to the trade simply as a trade bid is £16700 collected,tt into my bank account and completely hassle free.
So to conclude, cars are defo. worth more today than they were at the latter point of last year,no matter what car it is,if you need any advise on the RR i have several traders that would buy it for serious money, its a fantastic market to be selling subarus in currently, the only problem being lack of stock, you just have to check out our forecourt to see evidence of this.
p.s that solid rear bulkhead, did you never read all those extracts that were posted up by more than me at the time
