Pads are more consumable than discs and 10K is about right for normal pads with decent use. And John isn't known for being the most timid of drivers []
Count yourself lucky you got free discs basically.
I managed to make mine last over 30K with 1 set of normal pads then 2 sets of red stuffs, but I guess I'm more gentle on the brakes.
The 05 onwards blobeye has inverted STI style struts, the 03-04 didn't, whether the STI ones would fit or not is a different question.
Give one of the garages like AWD, Hypertech, Greers etc. a phone as they might know the answer.

Means the ECU detected something a bit iffy and flashed a warning. Get it to somewhere with a select monitor (dealer, specialist) and see if they'll give it a check.
Neil, going to 18" wheels means you take lower profile rubber so in theory the circumference should remain pretty much the same if you get the correct sizes.
When I got my teins springs on I found my front mudflaps were scraping due to them being set to the lowest setting. These were scott lowe ones and the teins really do drop it a wee bit more than the prodrive ones.
It's quite incredible how quickly the inter warmer heats up the intake temps. I have my R-VIT set to display that usually and it doesn't take long sat at a set of traffic lights before the temp can double itself.
