I think the benefits of a CAI are well known. See my thread earlier last week about my own project. I ended up deciding the standard airbox was fine for my requirements. To the perrin itself though - my mate Brian from Canada tells me nothing but good things about the Perrin name. He's only got a wee Honda himself, but the shop he gets his bits from has a demo STI running shed loads of Perrin gear and it's pretty tasty. If you read NASIOC then you'll see that and the APS are basically the best choice to go for in terms of CAIs.

Well Gus is supplying me with a DP for a new age. I've currently got the third cat replacement pipe fitted from the guy he gets them from and it was very nice quality. If the DP is as good then I'll be well chuffed. The proof is in the pudding as they say, and we'll find out in just over a month if this particular pudding is good or not.

The downpipe has a 3" openning at one end because that's the size of the exit on the turbo - due to internal wastegate etc. The standard system is 2.5" diameter the rest of the way, so it will taper to that. I think you can clear 300bhp on a 2.5" system, so there's probably not a need to go to 3" From memory the classic exhaust is in 3 parts after the turbo- DP, Centre, BB. I'm not sure where the cats are, I think in the DP and the centre (which is also resonated). So for a full decat you'd need to replace the centre and the DP. There's loads of different places to get stuff from. eBay, scoobyworld, scoobysport. This is Hayward and Scott's page for the Impreza - http://www.haywardandscott.co.uk/results.asp?category=13 Their kit is pretty good, but shop around and you might pickup some good bargains, like in our own for sale section. The other option is to go to somewhere like Meercat or C+C and get a custom system built.
