  1. I've always saw you in the cottaging industry Wilky.
  2. Barry, I have a euro import and pay nothing extra for insurance. Try a different insurer. The only reason I can see for it costing more to insure is if the person who got it didn't get an alarm fitted to the car. UK ones came with it as standard.
  3. The car runs as standard with a recirculating bov. All bovs work the same way in that when you close the throttle the compressed air in the turbo has no where to go, so the pressure is released. On a Vent To Atmosphere bov this air is vented to the outside world. On a recirculating one it is vented back into the intake, before the turbo. Hence recirculating. I've ran for over a year with a VTA on my 2005 WRX without a remap and haven't had any issues, but oil is changed regularly. The car is due for a map on the 12th of next month though for other reasons []
  4. Welcome to the clubs and the forum. When dave was behind me on the way to the Glasgow Tunnel run I could really hear the noise of the turbo spooling up on that monster. It makes a fantastic sound. A mighty good purchase.
  5. First map is £500+VAT including the software licence. Subsequent maps are £200. There's a group buy on just now which would get you and 8% reduction if arranged for something before the first couple of weeks in April.
  6. Craig, 200 is about right. Mine made 207 at the wheels with the deresonated centre too. Also, when everyone talks about the Model Years of their cars is not the registration dates but just the model variant. So there was no MY55, just MY05. Which is the "blobeye" with some revisions - which in the case of a WRX is distinguishable from the MY03-04 WRX because it has red brake calipers, the upgraded interior (cup holders by the hand brake not pop out above the radio) and the inverted rear struts that you can't see!
  7. Easiest way to tell an 05 car is that the cupholders are down at the handbrake, and don't pop out above the stereo. I have a 54 plated car bought in very early december 2004 that is an 05 model. It's easy to tell on the WRXs as they have red calipers.
  8. DCCD was also an option (about £1K?) on the 04 car, standard from 05 onwards if memory serves me correct. Anyone wish to confirm or deny?
  9. Ray Charles could have put together a better quality interior. More rattles than mother care.
  10. I quite like the graphics on that. Very L'aunsport. Like those wheels too, what kind are they?
  11. Monday or Tuesday night I think. It wasn't a usual episode as they spent all of it in America on a road trip. It was utterly hillarious though.
  12. I said it before on another thread and I'll say it again - the Impreza drawings are purely Auto Express speculation. Look at the scoop - it's not wide. The 06 onwards cars went to a more efficient profiled scoop and intercooler combination. The wing mirrors don't match on both cars. One has a bee sting aerial, the other has a longer one. The lines are somewhat inconsistent too. If you read the auto express article you'll find other glaring errors, particularly about engines. We've had 2.5 WRX and STI now for over a year, yet they say it's going to be a 2 as the 2.5 is american only. Idiots. Their OFFICIALLY EXCLUSIVELY REVEALED articles are usually just uninformed junkett experts and an artist coming up with something after a visit to the pub.
  13. Welcome to the club and the forums.
  14. No problems Chris. Don't be a stranger at Knockhill etc. either. You're always welcome to some passenger laps.
  15. Sorry to hear mate. Hope you're back in the driving seat soon enough.
  16. I just renewed mine. Wouldn't look good if I wasn't a member!
  17. I grounded mine in Edinburgh yesterday in a car park but no damage thankfully. Let us know how you get on Ed, it looks like just about any car going through there would have trouble.
  18. There's one floats about down here, has a 3 digit number plate, and is black too. Lovely lovely car. Acceleration is immense.
  19. Ally has one. If you've ever followed him anywhere then you'll know that it pulls VERY NICELY.
  20. Peter can lend me some of his brave pills for Crail. He holds the record for calmest passenger I've ever had in my car - he wanted to have a conversation with me the whole way round the track at Knockhill and held and entire Phone Call with Bill Greer whilst I was going down the track at Crail. Is this the first time the car will have had an external wastegate then?
  21. This site usually has some good how to threads.
  22. Typical Auto Express "artist impressions". Wouldn't bet the farm that the car will look like that.
  23. I was thinking you meant your car stereo was locking out. £100 would have got you a head unit. But if it's your alarm then there is a fix available. It's a veridium plate they install, but I'm not sure where it goes. I always thought it was the wheel arch. Gav aka Scoobyseller works for Ian Grieve in Falkirk and Russ aka Mako works for John R. Weir in Perth. Both are fine upstanding gentlemen who are always a credit to their dealers, and the club. I've never used either dealer, so can't comment about the workshops.
  24. Good to hear Coulty. I remember talking with you, Colin and Johnny last year at Dastek about the plans and it's good to hear it's turned out really well. I'll need to tell my wee cousin as your car was his favourite from the trip to Time Attack/D1 last year.
  25. Detangled! Detango maybe? Gus the bus has done a few. He'll be along later with assistance.
