  1. oobster, there's different audio settings in the menus. Give them a bash. Although I suspect as yours is a euro model it has the daft EU noise level pish on it. My creative zen was quiet as a mouse until I flashed it with US firmware.
  2. I'm using a set of Red Stuff on mine at the moment. No complaints. You wouldn't want to emergency stop them without giving them a bit of a warmup I suppose, but they certainly worked quite nicely on the track. I know Gumball had trouble with Warped EBC discs, but I'm just using the standard subaru ones at the moment. The pads survived a full track day and a half track day, as well as a few thousand miles on the road as well, and there's still enough left for a month or two on the road I'd think. But then I'm not running a squillion horse power like some of you are.
  3. I noticed some handheld cameras getting used cheekily yesterday, and some people not in long sleeves too. Don't think the hot hatch would be for me really. A bit rough and ready.
  4. They're quite close together those 2. What's the deal with the cones on the run in to the Chicane too?
  5. Nasty. A little bit too close to home for my liking.

  7. Crook of devon. Left at the exit, right when you get back to Powmill and then about 3 miles along the road. No cheap though.
  8. Start - programs - accessories command prompt. Then type what I said in the black box and tell me what it comes back with. Also you can try: Go into Internet Explorer and then tools->internet options. Click on the connections tab. Make sure it's set to always dial your default connection, which will be your dialup, then click the lan settings and make sure nothing's ticked in there. If that doesn't work then get someone with an internet connection to stick firefox on a CD for you. Install that and try and use it for browsing websites. If that works then it's an IE problem and not a general PC problem.
  9. Just drop him a mail indeed. He'll send you back small-ish copyright water marked pictures, and you can buy prints or very big great quality digital ones from him. The two prints I got were very good.
  10. Gumball, fire up said PC, dial up t'internet and then open up a dos prompt. In the dos prompt type in "ping www.google.com". If you get replies back then you've not got a network problem more than likely, so clear all the internet temp files and cache and see what happens.
  11. Scott, try this guy - www.gklphotography.co.uk. Bought some great prints off him in June, and looked at some from the last day.
  12. I was the massive ginger fellow in the red top. Makes me easy to spot. I'd have been white as a sheet around half 10 after my incident. It was great to have the full day, plenty of time on track but also plenty of time for spectating and talking pish in the pits with everyone. I had a chance to talk to some of the Caterham drivers, a couple of the evo boys and a lot of the Impreza guys too obviously.
  13. You know, if the shell station had a lottery machine I was going to buy a ticket. In the end I settled for a sausage supper at the local chip shop on my way home.
  14. Tino is in the first picture on the first page. The standardish looking WRX that is no where near standard.
  15. It was good talking to you earlier Tino. Your car is a real beast, and was a nice warm place to sit for 5 minutes too. Should run great with the 6 speed next year.
  16. Picked up a classic Road Angel last boxing day in the Halfords sale for half price. Well worth it. Also got my TomTom Mobile 5 on my smartphone which has speed cameras on the points of interest, and it does sat nav too of course.
  17. That beemer was no slouch. The 535d is putting out about 8 million lb/ft of torque or there abouts.
  18. NAhhh, if you look in the wheel arch there's a splash guard between it and the bumper, about 50p worth of plastic. It should clip on fine, but it's covered in muck and I've lost 2 of the 5 plastic studs. My splitter survived intact oddly enough. I spotted you lurking Chris, but you disappeared quite quickly.
  19. Pete, was that you that was behind me at wheels around this morning getting your track wheels on? If it was then your regular wheels are stunning mate. Glad you enjoyed your first time. Weather was great for Imprezas.
  20. Car had no probs mate. Did plenty of laps afterwards as the spin was quite early in the day. I did take it a bit easier for the rest of the sessions though.
  21. Oh aye, re-apply SP2. It fixes all manner of problems we've had at work.
  22. Yes, I am tonight the luckiest man in Scotland. For those who don't know the first turn at Knockhill then you're slowing down from 100ish into a quick 3rd gear right over the crest of a hill into quite a drop. So now picture the scene - I've just gone past the old yellow lotus elan(?) on the straight, probably should have hung off though. I get on the anchors for the first corner but brake later to finish the pass, and get out of the way of the lighter and more nimble on its brakes elan. As I round the first turn the back steps out and I try and steer into it. The back continues to wander round and I know I'm now in for the ride. I'm now heading just about backwards, with the front (or is that back?) wheels pointing in a direction that would swing me into the tyre wall. I then start winding off the opposite lock used to try and correct the slide and put on lock the other way to stop an impact. The car hits the gravel and I do almost a russ swift style J turn, missing the tyre wall by what must have been a baw hair. To say I needed new underwear would be the understatement of the year. I composed myself briefly before trying initially unsuccessfully to get out the gravel. I managed on the second go but when I engaged forward I heard some not so good noises. The marshall guy came running down from his post and we had a quick check of the car, recovered an inner splash gaurd from the gravel trap, and I then drew forward again and he said "it's alright, just the gravel in the wheels". I tootled round the rest of the track, trying not to drop gravel everywhere, before pulling into the pits to be stared at by everyone. Big thanks to the Marshall for helping out and also JohnS for telling me to get my ass back on the horse straight away. He was right as leaving it any longer would have probably ended my track career. Now with a picture:

I don't like McAfee, I must admit. Never have, never will. XP SP2's firewall is quite adequate, but Kerio Personal Firewall is a good free alternative.
  24. I love google earth. You can pass an hour on it just looking for anything.
  25. Post up the HJT logs Dougster, they're always great. You'll have real mans protection software on it too as well as McAfee? Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware?
