  8. Its a doorstop in his bedroom at the moment!
  9. The, original manifold on my 95 STI RA was port matched, not very well, but port matched. Quality of the actual "bluprinting" of the STI suffered in 1995 when the process of turning a basic subaru into an STI was tansfered from STI to the subaru main factory in Japan. I am unsure of the name of the places. Although the same spec, the workmanship was poorer and detail like port matching was largley ignored by the mass production punters. Mind you the quality of the port matching would suggest that the STI place was a sausage factory as well! Callum W
  10. Here we see the handover takeover of the 20g. An exceptional moment in Subaru history

  14. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts! Ya Stoater!
  15. The red sti inlets were port matched and after a certain year were better insulated, although its always a good idea to put manifold spacers in to stop heatsoak. There is serveral schools of thought as to which manifold was the best. I personally prefere the phase one manifold with the larger plenum. One phase was known for higher torque. Someone will be able to give you a better heads up than that, but this should get the ball rolling! Callum W

  18. And there was another time I was in my Fiesta Supersport, and got a laruping off a mini Van! When I caught him up and asked what engine he had, he opened the doors and had a rover V8 in the back, it was rear wheel drive!! Feck!
  19. (Eyes glaze over as I gaze off into the distant past..........) Many years ago when I had my mini, not my first car but a subsiquent one, I was stationed in Edinburgh. the car was a 1380, longman stage 3 head, 1.5 roller rockers, 286 kent megadyne cam, luminition, 3-1 manifold, RC40 exhaust, webber 45 DCOE, oil cooler, 4 core radiator, through a Jack Knight S/C gearbox, she kicked out @ 115 bhp. You can laugh, but thats alot of grunt from 5 port A series engine. I was at the lights on Princes street and an old Skoda Estella pulled up next to me, all stickered up rally style withn a susipciously lumpy tickover. I smuggley looked over and gunned the mini, the RC40 ripped, The dude in the skoda gunned his engine and it sounded awesome! Lights went green, I dropped the Clutch, was subsiquently smoked by the skoda, who was at the next set of lights before I gripped second gear. Moral of the story..... Never judge a book by its cover! Callum W
  20. 10/60 is what I have always been advised to use, Millers, castrol, valvoline. I notice that newer cars with VVT seem to prefer 15/50. Dont know if there is a connection. Perhapes our resident encyclopedia Squirrel or the Oilman may be able to help??? Callum W.
