  1. Okay, unless something has slipped through the net, the weekend of the 6th and 7th of May look like the time to do it. If anyone knows of a clashing event, then PM me and let me know. But it looks like it would have to be a major one to change the plans. Callum W

  3. More than welcome to follow the convoy! What im concerned with at the moment is setting a date, is everyone agreed that the end of April, beginning of May is a good time? It gives the regions a bit of time to raise some cash. Callum W
  4. Hi folks! I?m sure the death of Richard Burns has touched each and every one of you, as it did me. It Was Richard Burns who kindled my interest initially in Subaru. I would love to contribute in some way to celebrating his life, and at the same time raise money for the Cancer Charity of his families choice, so having run this idea by Phil and John S and with their support I would like to organise an SIDC relay from Lands End to John O Groats in order to raise money for Cancer Research, and celebrate the life of Richard Burns. The outline is as simple as the plan. We set off from Lands End at 5am on the day decided to run this Event, go to London, round the M25 and up the M1, M6, M74 and so on to John O Groats. Each SIDC region relaying, or convoying to a Motorway service station on the border with the next region. Here a cheque for the amount raised by that region by whatever means they see fit is handed over to the Next region and the convoy or relay continues after a short meet. Now, I know some regions will be off The route but they can meet up at the pre designated handover stations and join in or just hand over The Charity cheque. The reason we are going round the M25 is to try and get to the groups in the southeast. As the relay starts at Lands End, Scottish Scoobies will set up Camp at John O Groats and the clock Starts, however its not a race and all the police forces along the route will have been informed of our Intent. When the relay finally reaches John O Groats the cheques collected will be counted, and taken to John S to be deposited at the charity. I think this is a great idea, a fitting way to celebrate Richards life, and to raise money for cancer Research, a disease which at sometime will affect us or someone close to us. This is a way to help beat It. The plans are not in concrete yet and as the saying goes, he who plans early plans twice, so I?m open to Ideas, suggestions for both the relay, and for ROs and members to help them raise money. Feel free to PM me, or add to this thread. Don?t shy away this is going to be as good as we want it to be So lets do it right! This isnt just for SIDC, all other Subaru clubs are welcome!! 8. When I was sitting my driving test, when a chieftain was a warrior and not a tank, two dogs were humping on the pavement as I drove past. An old lady ran out a house and chucked a bucket of water over them. I laughed so hard I bounced the rover metro I was being tested in off the kerb and chipped the wheel. Naturally, I was failed for not paying due care and attention to the road ahead of me. But it was worth it. Callum W

  16. Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone, In a one bedroom house made of plaster & stone. I had come down the chimney, with presents to give and to see just who in this home did live As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see, no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree. No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand. On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land. With medals and badges, awards of all kind, a sobering thought soon came to my mind. For this house was different, unlike any I'd seen. This was the home of a brave infanteer. I'd heard stories about them, I had to see more, so I walked down the hall and pushed open the door. And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone, Curled up on the floor in his one-bedroom home. He seemed so gentle, his face so serene, Not how I pictured brave Infanteer. Was this the hero, of whom I?d just read? Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed? His head was clean-shaven, his weathered face tan. I soon understood, this was more than a man. For I realized the families that I saw that night, owed their lives to these men, who were willing to fight. Soon around the Nation, the children would play, And grown-ups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day. They all enjoyed freedom, each month and all year, because of soldier like this one lying here. I couldn?t help wonder how many lay alone, on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home. Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye. I dropped to my knees and I started to cry. He must have awoken, for I heard a rough voice, "Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more. My life is my God, my country, my job." With that he rolled over, drifted off into sleep, I couldn't control it, I continued to weep. I watched him for hours, so silent and still. I noticed he shivered from the cold night's chill. So I took off my jacket, the one made of red, and covered this soldier from his toes to his head. Then I put on his T-shirt of green and of gold, with red and white dicing so pretty, so bold. And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride, and for one shining moment, I was an Argyll deep inside. I didn't want to leave him so quiet in the night, this guardian of honor so willing to fight. But half asleep he rolled over, and in a voice clean and pure, said "Carry on, Santa, it's Christmas Day, all secure." One look at my watch and I knew he was right, I paused for 2,3 and turned to the right.
  17. The squirrel555 is the all seeing eye of subaru, be it online, on ebay or on the techpages of 22b. He reads learns inwardly digests files it away to use practically or regurgitate. He hold the largest collection of subaru merchandise I have ever seen and is a walking breakers yard. EG I was looking for a 97-00 map sensor, he rummaged in bedside cabinet, came back on the phone and said "Aye, I have one". Thats special. Hail to the Squirrel! walking encyclopedia, monitor of modern politics and contributor to Radio Four. You have to love him. Callum W
  18. IHI is the japanese company which is a subsiduary of mitsibushi who make the VF range of turbos. similar to the TD turbos. I do not know the exact ins and outs of it, our encyclopeia the squirrel or similar persons will be able to expand, but if you have an IHI then your car has a proper turbo and not a nackerdooky yingtong shove haepenny special as you fear. The version will tell you what its capable of, ie V23, V24, V28 etc etc. Or a TD05 with its right angle bend if its standard. Someone will be able to expand on what I have said. relax Callum W
