  1. And now for something a little bit spethial I will be coming too Cheers Iain
  2. You had overboost with a spark issue? That is highly unlikely mate, the things you should be looking for as the wastegate is controlled by the air produced by the turbo are, blockages, kinks or splits in the complete wastegate pipework between the turbo and the wategate solenoid, you can test for wastegate failure by plugging the outlet nipple directly to your wastegate actuator nipple and going for a run the turbo should only run wastegate spring pressure in this setup if it runs higher than this to overboost your actuator is goosed, or you have boost creep. Another thing that would cause overboost is if the restrictor pill in the short piece of pipe between the 't' piece and the turbo is the wrong size (too small) or incorrectly situated ie on the other side of the 't' piece. If the wastegate solenoid was to be stuck open this might also cause the car to overboost, it might be worth giving it a clean anyway. Let us know how you get on Cheers Iain
  3. Nope its 3.5 and drop the clutch , the only problem is that 3.5 is a good launch rpm for mine, other cars will have different setups and the launch will be different. The idea is to get the maximum amount of forward motion without wheelspin or boging the engine, takes a little practice but once you get a feel for it you can hit it right almost every time. Cheers Iain
  4. Nothing to do with the force mate I am simply special I will happily share the launch technique Cheers Iain ps sorry guys I must have copied the link for the banner on the USC webpage oops I will sort it later today

  13. Joking aside I fixed Simons car today which he was very pleased with , At Japfest yesterday due to the damp nature of the weather I got a little bored so I built a new intake for my scoob, I have just set up the boost system to match it and holy pooo its like a damn missile now, gear changes are much smoother, throttle responce is much sharper and seems to hold boost for longer oh and the engine bay looks a little better too. Should make keeping up with Stu and Chris a little easier Cheers Iain

  19. !!!!!! IMPORTANT MESSAGE !!!!!!! re: Japfest Stand Passes We have just been informed that the wrong stand passes have been issued to us, as a result when entering the gate you will be directed to the left, our stand is to the right, please ensure that you turn right once you are through the gate, I am sure that the marshalls will be made aware of this issue early on so that every driver does not have to explain the situation or get sent to the wrong stand area. So remember once past the gate turn right (If in doubt explain to the marshall) I will see you all tomorrow Cheers Iain
  20. Sounds like you topped up the coolant correctly then to avoid air lock (thats not to say there is not an air lock there) , I had a scoob down this way with very simmilar symptoms that turned out to be an air lock even after the system was bled lol. Have you checked for dampness in the carpet at the front of the car ie a leak from the matrix, as mentioned already there are only a few reasons for your problem to occur that are an airlock, failed pump, a leak within the system that creates an airlock or a head gasket failure, if you start the car and watch the expansion tank are bubbles visible? Cheers Iain
  21. When you replaced the thermostat I am assuming that you topped up the coolant whilst pumping the top hose until the resevoir would take no more fluid? If this is true your system is flushed, this would leave only 2 options either the waterpump has packed up or a head gasket has failed, how long after starting from cold does it take for the water to bubble out of the expansion tank? Cheers Iain
