So whos cars have you worked on then? Is your identity to remain a secret? I have no idea who you are. Cheers Iain

So what work have you done on any of my scoobs then, if you did know me you could tell me what my first scoob was? Cheers Iain

Then you must be from Cotswolds Subaru then? Because that is the only other place my car has ever been for work. If so this is really not good for buisness and I am dissapointed, but I am sure that Jason and Mark would not speak this way and would happily tell me if it was them. Cheers Iain

Do you think that this sort of attitude on a forum is good for buisness I certainly would not be coming back for future service. Cheers Iain

Thats funny because I have no idea who you are, should I, dare I ask who you are? You seem to have a huge issue with the whose right and whose wrong thing, I will find out tomorrow. I dont really care as it is all part of the learning process. I am no Subaru guru (although I have been called this by others) I have just taken an interest in the mechanics of the car, which is well within my capabilities, I keep and maintain two of my own and have no issues to date. I am glad that you see that not everything I say is tripe. Cheers Iain
  10. Hi all Due to us having the Abingdon show this month I had not really planned an Oxon meet as such but as the mini meet we had before went so well we have decided to do it again. Meeting at the Kings Arms (Harvester) in Kidlington at 11:30am Link to details from last mini meet Unless anyone wants to stop for food the format will be the same. Last run out the weather was great and the roads were fun, just watch out for cyclists and horses. 01. Big 'D' 02. Stu 03. 04. 05. 06. 07. 08. 09. 10. Cheers Iain

Nothing wrong with checking out profiles, we do it all the time, I did not leave any nasty comments or messages, did I? Cheers Iain

I some how feel that you have no faith in my technical abilities maybe due to my lack of Subaru training, I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else for that matter, I am not that low that if it were the head gasket that I would say it was the water pump, many members on here know and trust me why would I spoil that and what would that prove? I love nothing more than helping people out on here (where I can) and all I get from you yet again is doubt . You have no idea who I am or what my abilities are so what is your problem? Just out of interest what would the symptoms of a water pump failure be, would the symptoms be any different than I have described? Cheers Iain

We will just have to wait and see wont we I love being second guessed on everything I say, its great . A bust water pump would give the exact same symptoms that I have described, just without the bubbles, rapid temp rise and water loss that you get with a head gasket failure. Cheers Iain

If it spins and has a bearing it can seize or break I have heard of both happening, rare as it is, it is possible. Anything that has moving parts has the ability to fail. Even the indestructable Subaru water pump. Cheers Iain

The water is not flowing through the rad or the matrix what else can it be, are they both blocked? As I understand it the Matrix will get hot before the rad does anyway as the thermostat does not open until around 75-80 deg C allowing the water/engine to get up to temp quicker. Even with a failed thermostat the matrix would still get red hot, as this water flow bypasses the thermostat. The fans were on constantly once the engine got upto temp approx 95 Deg C. this would also suggest that the water is just sitting in the engine and not circulating, the top hose was red hot and the bottom hose was cold, the heater is blowing warm at first then cold as you leave it on when it should be hot constantly as the water flows round it, there is no sign of a massive leak or loss of water (minor leak from the matrix), just the fact that the engine gets hot, the rad stays cold and the matrix has no hot flow through it. Cheers Iain

Given that I was at the car when it overheated, refilled and bled the water system (carefully as was still hot) then sat with the car with it running for at least 5-10 minutes, constantly checking the engine temp gauge, the rad pipe temps (top was red hot bottom was cold to warm but never hot)and the in car blower that no heat to it. My final suggestion would be that there is no water circulation the car overheated the extra pressure in the system perhaps ruptured the matrix causing a leak. With the water system replenished and bled there was no hot air in the car through the blower (would blow warm at first then get cold) would suggest no water circulation. The high temp on the top hose on the rad and cold temp on the bottom hose on the rad could suggest a thermostat failure but combined with the fact that there was little temp through the blower I would suggest invest into the pump. As rare as water pump failures are on the scoob they do happen and given the age of the car it would be a high possability. There were no visible/bubbling signs of a head gasket failure. Cheers Iain
  17. Thanks guys, hopefully we can get the go ahead for a dynamic display next year and I can prep a better show in the arena (Fingers Crossed). The organisers were also very impressed, so thats a good start Cheers Iain

Did you have hot air through the blowers on the way home, if so it could be the thermostat but the temp of air I felt yesterday was not as hot as it should be if the water is circulating correctly, which is why I said the water pump not the thermostat. Cheers Iain
