  1. Hi Jamie, the MSA recently introduced a scheme to 'license' marshals so that they have a register of experienced guys. To get one only involves a training day, usually a dummy Rally (we had one at Kames two years ago, and the plan is to incorporate one/two into this series, where you will be taught safety, how to operate the Start Stop clocks, flying finish, checking in/out stage/service ect). Then marshal on three rallies (you can claim grandfather rights). From then on Car clubs will be getting in touch to ask you to help and, your local (Wales !!) WRC round gets to be free.
  2. East Ayrshire CC (Organisers of the Galloway Hills Rally, Kames Trophy Rally, 4 rounds of The Scottish Sprint champioship, and 9 Grass Autotests a year..and other stuff) & Coltness CC (Organisrs of the McRae Stages...and plenty more stuff...) are jointly running a series of Rally Time Trials (Gravel Sprints) over the summer at Kames using the on site stages (4 layouts). Hopefully three runs on each giving around 12 stage miles. Cars need to be log booked, and competitors need rally license, no navigator required (Cars can be double entered, time for payback to your Nav). Limited to Two Wheel Drive. Cost will be pleasingly reasonable (Trust me ), ideal for beginers to get used to loose stuff before tramping up a forrest... Spectator action much better than a forrest as the whole course can be seen (and there as rolls & Sausage and Tea on Site). Ideal training ground if you want to get your Marshals license and go to Rally GB for Free and still more hospitable than a forrest. Interested ?
  3. Doug, you got time tomorrow for a chat about Kames (P.S. I wish you f3ckers would learn to spell it ) St3ph3n, yes that is the sign you see, although the locals have slightly misleadingly called it 'Rally Track' on the sign, go up and have a look if you are passing. There is no longer a motor museum at Doune, as said before its now and Arts and Crafts shop. The old boy passed the estate on to his son to avoid death duties and sonny ain't into cars so things changed. The Hillclimb is still held there (though it was touch and go for a while). The area that used to be paddock is now the carpark for the shop and they won't let you use it. That leaves the field which is huge but usually full of sheep, great when dry, but a muck pond in the wet !! ---john---
  4. Ian, Bardowie is on the road between Torrance and Bearsden. NE of Glasgow. ---john---
  5. Thanks Alex, STi5 has a 4.44 diff. so no good to me P.S. do you want a set of Regs sent to you for Sprint/Hillclimb championship ?
  6. Anyone local got one of the above, prefer the later '99-on box if possible. A knackered (cheap) one would be excellent as long as the front crownwheel and pinion are OK ? pweeese ---john---
