  1. Stirling Services is off the big roundabout when you take junction 9 off the M9. It has a big Esso (?) station and a Travel Lodge. edit - added map clicky for wee map was going to say it was the place I got stuck for 3 hours when we had a sudden snowstorm last year and lorries were jack knifing left right and centre around that roundabout.... but you dont know where i was! LoL
  2. Thought I would consolidate my posts on various threads and explain the format of the black ribbons, for those who may have missed it For those attending Sunday's service, it would be nice if all cars in our convoy sports a black ribbon tied on the driver side wing mirror. You should be able to get them at florists (and no, petrol station forecourts do not constitute a florist) or fabrics/haberdashery shop (place that sells buttons and material)... We are using solid black ribbon, 1 inch wide, 20 inches (500 mm) long, hooped around the drivers side wing mirror and secured at the base with a staple Recommend selecting a fabric that will retain its shape when wet, just thinking that you dont want a soggy mess hanging off your mirror if it rains. A staple or two is enough to secure the ribbon - mine stayed on while going along the motorway. pic below shows a yellow ribbon in the Madeline McCann search I've got 18 ribbons spare (bought a big long reel of it earlier this week) so if you want one, come and find me at Happendon on Sunday. Frank C also has some spare ribbons.
  3. Squiggle, Nanaki and I are the only ones coming to this "do" tomorrow. Please leave some food for us... simmie, yeah we were thinking of popping into Perth on the way home from the casino night. Will catch up with you tomorrow night to find out details, hope you guys arent leaving too early, I reckon i'll be a wee bit hung over (1st proper night out since I've finished uni)
  4. err Davie, where and when are we meeting on Sunday to get to Happendon on time?
  5. my heart sank when I read "Father and son made their final journey together in the same coffin."
  6. I've bought 10m worth of black ribbons today and happy to dish them out to those who may not be able to get some in time, i.e. for those who do not know where their local florist is (and no, petrol station forecourts do not constitute a florist ) or where their fabrics place is. I've got 18 spare ribbons, first come first served on Sunday at Happendon. Come and find me if you want a ribbon to tie round your driver side mirror.
  7. why not buy a Scottish Scoobies waterproof jacket? affordable, fleece lined, personalised with your own name and 10% goes towards Santa Cruise see thread in Important Topics above
  8. sounds like a great weekend. Top marks for the wee man for recognising a fellow scooby owner
  9. good job LoL at "... this is the last car i detail that has been round knockhill as the amount of tar/rubber that was stuck to the bodywork was unbelievable" Had to have a think about who Steve with a Type R is (sorry scientific steve) but twigged as soon as you mentioned Knockhill
  10. agree with all the sensible suggestions so far but i use mine to defrost the car in the winter! dont like scraping the frost from the windscreen so start the car, set it for 5 mins, lock car, go back in the house and when you come back out, put the heaters on and watch the frost disappear and windscreen demist
  11. there will be 5 of us making the trip from Gla/Central.
  12. re dress code - something black or something Subaru or your Scottish Scoobies clothes
  13. Now that the date has been confirmed, I suspect that we can rustle up around 60-70 members to attend this, seeing as the service is taking place on Sunday afternoon. I think Lord Harding and the Cumbrian scoobs may make it to this. Grant is liaising with them. May need to think about how to get the max number of people but the fewest number of cars to this. Lanark is going to he heaving 1. Ally-b 2. Richie Cross 3. Mac 4. Squiggle 5. Bogie 6. H4AFY 7. Gus the Bus 8. Neill54 9. nippySweeties 10. 14. good vid. I know how hard it must have been for you to put that together. Choice of theme tune is very poignant. Still cant believe the awful way he left this world, though I'm pleased that I got the chance to see him drive... the way he was born to drive... flat out sideways through the forest
  15. Stevie, not wanting to rain on your parade or anything but there are already 'unofficial' stickers available: CLICKY for sticker thread - details on how to order bottom of PAGE 2 Also, attendees to RallyDay at Castle Coombe are tying black ribbons to their wing mirrors as a mark of respect. I think that's a fab idea and will be getting some ribbon myself You should be able to get them at florists or fabrics/haberdashery shop (place that sells buttons and material)... format is solid black ribbon, 1 inch wide, 20 inches (500 mm) long, hooped around the drivers side wing mirror and secured at the base with a staple (same shape as the breast cancer ribbon) CLICKY for ribbon thread, see post 17 for picture imy
  16. Ally, Is this for Colin's funeral (which I thought was for family only) or for a public remembrance/service of celebration? and are you needing number of cars or number of people for this?
  17. I am on holiday this week and it was really strange that, while boarding my flight to Gatwick on Monday morning, I walked past a guy reading the paper and my letter was on it! and it wasnt just a small picture, this took up the whole page, in colour! I wrote it at 0300 Sunday morning and it took a couple of times to get the wording, spelling and the writing right.. man i'm glad that I took that time LoL I wanted to nudge the guy in the back, point at the paper and go "hey... check that... I wrote that..." (but i didnt) Its unbelievable the amount of media coverage our emergency tribute-convoy got but it feels great, knowing that we paid our respects in such a dignified way and getting quoted in the same page as folk like Sir Jackie Stewart and David Coultard
  18. fab pic. Pleased that the sun was shining when that was taken, not too pleased that we're all squinting in the photo LoL!
  19. Well done to Grant for speaking to the media on behalf of us all. Its not easy responding to a question like "and what did Colin mean to you" with a furry microphone and camera pointing at you and being forced to think on the spot. I had to stiffle a giggle, as asking you especially what Colin means is like... hello... being asked why we breathe! well done.
  20. it was great to see how many of us braved the yucky rain and made the trip to Lanark. We didnt need to explain or talk about why we were all there, we were just there, together, grieving. It was surreal the way the press reacted when we gathered at the bottom of the lane, i guess we forget that not everyone uses these forums and that not everyone knows about the Subaru community. They took lots of pictures of our convoy arriving and departing, footage of us is already being shown in Sky News and BBC 24. Thanks to those that managed to make it today, it really demonstrated the strength that we have in pulling together and meeting up last minute.
  21. Cruelly taken from us in such a heartbreaking way. May you enjoy going "flat out" in God's Special Stage. You will always in be in our hearts. Rest In Peace Colin
  22. I'll be there too. Swing by Asda Govan to pick me up, i'll buy some flowers to leave with our tribute
  23. I like it. Liked it from the 1st time i saw the pics. edit - had a look at the pics on the main site and dont like it without the bonnet scoop, looks daft and horrible
  24. glad to hear that you are keeping the Falcon Wilky, you've spent so much effort on that car can you summarise the legend that is the Millenium Falcon for us, for the benefit of the newbies that may not know its history?
  25. wouldn't that fall into the existing "Done a couple but more in the pipeline" category? as your Stage 1 mods could be classified as "a couple" ...
