lol, how's things sir?? Anyway as Wilky said checkout the coilpacks. The apexi ind. kit is good so shouldn't knacker the maf but it's always worth checking that to. Make sure there is no crap on the wires in the maf but be careful as they are pretty fragile. and not cheap. johnny
-
If it's a stutter, it may be the maf or one of the coilpacks. Do you run an induction kit? I doubt it's been remapped unless it has an aftermarket ecu which i'm sure they would have mentioned. You can remap the early ecu now but it's relatively new. You had your car a while? i think i saw it about a while back. Johnny

If i've calculated correctly that's about 0.95 bar which, giving for discrepancies with the gauge is about right. 0.9 bar is the standard pressure so you shouldn't be getting fuel cut. your gauge could certainly be under reading. Does the ecu have an aftermarket chip in it?? Does the power come back in after the hesitation or do you have to back off (i.e is it a stutter or total loss of power)? Oh, if you see a silver classic with white wheels (as in the pic) give us a wave. Johnny
-
What year of scoob is it? Do you have a boost gauge fitted, if so what is the peak boost? It could well be fuel cut due to too much boost. Also welcome m8, what car do you have, may have seen you around. Johnny

Take the revs up to at least 5k then let the clutch out fast, time the lights right and you'll be off before he's even noticed. The best way with a type r is to wind the diff fully forward for launch then once off the line open it up but this is very hard to do when trying to change gear etc. so iirc playsatan on here left it open and he still launched well. Johnny Oh, burgers are crap.

pmsl.... You really think your car will be ready by then???? Johnny
-
i wouldn't worry about it, it's just your car telling you that your going too fast and you should slow down before you die. It goes away at about 140 (when the door seal completely gives in). Maybe thats just the classics. Johnny.

Maybe the speedo cable is not connected properly, check it at both ends. Johnny

I fitted an apexi ind. kit and you car hear the standard recirc working. I wouldn't put a bov on my car unless my set up dictates one ( e.g. twisted turbo with external wasegate) and it's been mapped to suit. Johnny

Need Help With Power Problem On My 00 Classic Turbo

Check all the usual things like air leaks, connections etc. Also check that plugleads are on properly and maf hasn't been damaged or not connected right. It does sound a bit like an air leak, Also what plugs did you fit and what gap are they set at? Best of luck, Johnny -
SSO is an event to find the fastest road legal subaru's in the uk. It has 3 disciplines, handling circuit, quarter mile and top speed (can't remember if they run top speed actually). Any car in any state of tune can enter as long as it is road legal. There are different classes 14.3 secs and over, 13.3 secs and over etc. iirc you estimate which class you should be running in so you don't need a sub 11 sec car to win. It also acts as a qualifier to find the scoobs for totb. Johnny

Colin uses cometic aswell. As for porting the heads, with the stage your at it will make a difference and with decent cams and pulleys, set up properly couldn.t do any harm. Johnny

Ds2500's are good, i tried ebc yellow stuff and really liked them but on track they heat up enough to kill standard discs.
-
As grant says good oe discs with good pads ( ferrodo ds2500's) are a good starting point. Don't know what you've got fitted at the mo but if it's 2 pots (early classic) then start by upgrading to the 4 pots from a later classic. 4 pots with good discs and good pads work very well and are a good starting point if you don't have over a grand to throw at brakes. Newbie From Fife Looking At A Scoobie But...
johnnyr6 replied to mikee66's topic in Scottish Scoobies
A fresh import may not always be the answer, one that's been over here for a while and still going strong ( like my sti2) is prob going to last but a fresh import can be a bit of a minfield as it's not proven to last yet over here. I'd say it's more about how the car's been looked after and if modded, has it been done right. And as for a V3 for 4k, i'd say thats too cheap and be wary. johnny -
What he says... imho the type r is better (v5 or 6). Although ins is slightly higher (supposidly) and it needs mapped for uk fuel for peace of mind but if you get one already here it may have been done. There are a few differences ie no abs on type r but you get the dccd which can transform the feeling of the car. TBH though you'd be very happy with either and condition would prob be the deciding factor but i'd take a type r. Oh, if you decide to go for a p1 have a look at the blokes above (drb5)....very nice Johnny

It looks even better now andy, all covered in t-cut splashes and rubbing compound. Left to dry for at least 4 months.... :kerstsmiley: Johnny
