  1. very nice motor mate
  2. front page too, should help kick things off.. is that the only paper covering the story?
  3. good post zeolite yea I watched this last night., couldn't quite fathom the shock of agreeing with a daily mail columnist. Whilst on my flying-pig flight home from my skiing holiday in hell, i'll check the world is still round.
  4. yeah i agree if the issue OT is about tax, especially green road tax, the government need to be serious with us about what the tax is for. In a post-oil era we will have less budget is going abroad and as renewable energy is always local, war over territories will drop. A future superpower will be a country that cracks alternative energy, in particular, fuel cell technology. So setting up an infrastructure to handle alternatives, is a step. The tax is called 'green' but goes towards paying for wars with oil rich countries, and paying oil rich countries for their oil. If co2 actually causes global warming, well, i don't believe anyone actually knows the answer to that. there are just too many variables - recent deforestation, reduced western c02 emissions alongside increased eastern emissions, solar activity, natural geological cycles and weather systems, add to that some chaotic cloud behaviour - we can't model all this accurately and have a long term prediction of earths temerature. not with just some fossil records and only 100 years of non-standardised data. The evidence that the influence of solar activity cycles alone seem to affect the planets temperature much more than anything else. The government know that the issue is complicated and use it to they're advantage. They know we won't see results of reduced co2 emissions for another 30 years, (when we will know the if it was all about co2) so it gives them quite a nice cushion to get money out of us for 'noble' reasons. And if in 30 years we find its not about co2, then at least we won't find ourselves a little bit closer to the extinction of oil, and knowing cock all about any alternative.
  5. I looked up climategate and on wikipedia it says that one of the locations the hackers uploaded the stolen info to, was RealClimate.org, and it was THEY alerted the university of east anglia about the breach. here's what they say; http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archi...1/the-cru-hack/ RealClimate seem to regard CRU's science as sound, but it still troubles me that The CRU gets ALL of funding from environmentalists - I'm all about the good evidence, and if CRU are supposed to be a main influence in this kind of research then a full independant enquiry must take place. bottom line is i suppose, that we ARE going to run out of fossil fuels so alternatives must be saught no matter what the 'truth' is. And maybe when we are not dependant on oil, the world will be a more peaceful place
  6. edit to put all my photos in one place on page 2.
  7. i'm sure someone will answer that with more knowledge than me, but it doesn't sound too unacheivable to me. you might want to look at fuel regultaor and paralell fuel lines too. I'm NO expert though. sti intercooler would certainly help!
  8. quick pic and other pics cheers for all your comments
  9. well to be clearer, its not just the intercooler that increased the power.. a combination of all these things did however, contribute to 30hp fuel pressure regulator, parallel fuel lines unequal headers and matching uppipe turbo hose kit exhaust lagging bigger scoop i'm sure the paint helped too in some way a decent intercooler just helps getting lots of cool air into the engine so they all work properly. 30hp doesn't sound like much, but half the point for me was to set up all the things now, that I'll need when I get a bigger turbo+injectors later on. Cos you know, I know, we all know, that its going to happen sooner or later haha. Cheers, Chris.
  10. sure is rich.. only place i could think of that was lit for a photae. sounded nice in there.. Are you local then? you too dave! I went to change my the scoop to standard for dailiy use, but ended u leaving your big one on.. I must like it!
  11. well its kind of not really been done yet. I'm thinking about the zerosports splitter just to focus the air channel a bit better, but not if i've got to pay 200 bar for it. or I'll make something: I've got some sticky foam I'll probably fasion something worst case. but anyway, even as is, one of Andy's mapping observations is theres no problem with amount of air.
  12. thanks chaps! the most irritating thing is that I've got work to do. I shouldn't just be driving around pointlessly all day, but thats what I think I'll be doing Chris.
  13. Alright guys. car just got finished up and mapped at AWD. big thanks all round there, lovely job! h+s headers, uppipe, hoses, pulleys, hyperflow tmic, scoop (thanks david) Map went well, andy's estimate is 330bhp and 310-330ftlb That should be me happy for a few months A few things are noticably different. Its much more aggresive sounding, standard recirc dump valve now wooshes for some reason and my OIL temp is reading at much lower than before! Is this right? I was waiting for it to get up to temp for ages before I trusted that must be! lol. Still to get a couple of trimmings sorted next week, scoop splitter and turbo jacket. Engine bay might not be to everyones taste Cheers, Chris.
  14. there sure are some beautiful motors here guys..
  15. Its a good idea, but just classics? leaves a lot of folk out.. do you think a thread for each shape? edit: ahh - just seen the others!
  16. ah no worries man, I went on a whim so I didn't even know I was going to be there! see you there before 2! i've got a few, but I only had one lens so i have to crop anything i post. any car request and i'll have a look though! Chris.
  17. ..after the watershed, wonder if they''ll be swearing
  18. looked fun out there! went up for a brief peek yesterday, didn't stay long though.
  19. This HAS to go into room 101 http://www.creationism.org/topbar/evolution.htm Along with the editor of that website and all his mates. Chris.
  20. that looks like my old sport,
  21. you won't be complaining when you've worked hard and got that job (happy birthday lewisscoob - hope you won't be putting 'birthdays' into room 101 later on )
  22. me too.. I just walked past a battered old transit outside with no tax, next to where someone had put "wash me" I was tempted to write "Tax me". Then he'd have to wash it! Chris.
  23. You know when you try and be a courteous driver, given the marques reputaion, so you stick to correct lanes at roundabout ques, etc even when others are diving down the empty lanes and cutting in. I get this swelling feeling of injustice in my stomach and I'm watching my wing mirrors just waiting for the next tw4t to do it. I'm determined to not let it get the better of me.. The antidote to this feeling is to dive down and cut in, only propogating the rudeness. Some Zen-like deep breathing is in order to get through it and do the right thing. particularly at roadwork lane closures when the polite British majority start queing with half a mile to go when really, we should use both lanes right up to the narrowing point, then "merge like a zip" as the do in New Zealand. there they have signs saying that, and there's no opportunity for disorder. Chris.
  24. 1. people who don't pull over to the slower lane on the motorway when there blatantly a que of cars behind them. It outrageous. 2. BMW drivers, 85% of them will do something stupid whilst in your field of vision, 100% of the time. thats it for now. Chris.
  25. I've been playing with abotu 310/320 in my classic for about 3 years now and it really hasn't got boring for one minute. My opinion modding to more than about 340/340 on a classic, its probably diminishing returns (responsiveness etc.) considering our roads. Chris.
