I've been using ferodo 2500's for about 3 years (same set) on my AP's. just ordered a new set for my ring trip, only to be on the safe side cos there's loads left. I do recommend them! This guy came highly recommendedby dunc at hypertech for brake pads http://www.circuitsupplies.com/ - 01525 385 888 Cheers, Chris. -
How did everyone find their oil temps going round the ring?? I don't have a cooler, but I do have an oil temp gauge so I suppose I'll have to be backing off a wee bit for some sectors (if temps get to 110oC i'm told).. or what? Thanks again, Chris.

Thanks mate, steak on a stone definately sounds like my sort of thing Ring taxi? is that the one driven by sabine, in the bmw csl? how much is that? dino tells me there 102 ron somewhere local too! I'm definately hold off and get some local good stuff, but taking NF in case I get caught short lol.

thanks Chris, more expense in the pipeline too no? I'll be letting rip, maybe 3rd lap round 1st one a recce, 2nd one, just to make sure, then 3rd lap a hot one Cheers will give him a bell, can only ask, eh. Cheshire and district, ah! I've never even looked in there lol. i'll have a nosey, thanks mate. bung is a good idea, but i've been thinking about headers for a while, just to quieten down a wee bit anyway (I KNOW its Sacrilege but, hey.. wee bit more power too though.. The guy whose organising my trip (Dino) says it also comes down to if the marshalls think you're a nice guy too, so yeah, no fooling around in the car park etc.. probably be ok, big polite smiles all round. just crossing fingers for my days, just hope its not pis$n down so i'm forced to go round like a granny. snow would definately suck the worst. haha, i've been doing that exact thing, with a 330bhp sti too same like mine although I probably won't learn the nuances of every corner, got a fair Idea of what sector I'm on etc. and when there are serious braking points. manages a 7:14 in a McMerc, which was frightening don't race is a good tip. certainly not timing myself anyway.. but would mind a friendly battle with another car or two at some point. Thats if there will be ANY cars at all there in november! good stuff keep it comin! what about nightlife etc, any touristy type stuff thats worth a look? Cheers all, Chris.

mm yeah, instead of the big suction mount and camcorder, I might do the iphone thing. discreet.

Hi all, I'm going along to the ring at the end of november, just wondered if anyone has any wisdom to pass on, must do's and def don'ts.. My main concern is not getting past the decibel meter, so I was hoping to change my headers to equal length before going. 1. Would I need to remap after changing the headers? 2. where can I borrow / buy some equal length headers? borrowing would be amazing - I'm kinda hoping someones got some lying around after being disappointed with the burble-less-ness ps. not allowed cameras on the ring anymore - booooooooooooooo!

Thats very true If I remember to bring my brave pills, I will ask you sometime I think mines pretty quick so I can't imagine more than twice the power feels like. C. -

sure is bud! Spot ON! Cheers again for them - they have gone to a very appreciative home Ring-wise I was thinking of heading there pretty soon, I'm not sure how many people would want to come in November, its just Ideal for me with work. What are costs like to take a trailer on a ferry vs. paying for fuel and drivin it there(+risk of breaking something) I'm just driving mine likes. A pax lap on the Ring in the WL i think would be well up there on the list of top ten terrifying experiences, along with volcano bungeeing and lion juggling. -

sorry barry, was in the pub! aye, there wasn't much to photograph unfortunately -- I stopped past hoping to get a nice picture of the beast in the braw sunlight but I wasn't sure how long it would be till it rolled out, so had to scarper before I could get anything nice. the noise was truely unbelievable, thats for sure. earplugs for all! so, chris.. how about that nurburgring? it must be calling you.... *come to the ring, come, come* Cheers, Chris. -
looking forward to the results using the full tin of beans Chris, if I'd read this earlier I might've popped down for a squint probably all done now! Cheers, Chris

Hi Robert, cheers.. it is very symptomatic of a break in a cable somewhere, I'm not sure exactly where the bypass was tapped in, I would hope it would have been directly into the connection, but certainly worth emphasising your point, thanks.
-
sorry, jumped the gun a bit, it can't be the worm drive, since the needle jumps around when the car is stationary.. so my appeal for help continues. got a spark booked for monday morning, i'll maybe get him to put a multimeter across the sensor and drive about, see if there's a signal coming off it. at least that elimitates the worm drive / sensor possibility. humph.
-
Well, that wasn't it folks. SW bypassed all the kph mph converter / delimiter stuff, added temporary ecu speed signal wire and hardwired power to the sensor, still nothing. I rang scoobyclinic and straight away the guy (adam - nice man) said its the 'worm drive' in the gearbox, just below the speed sensor. The plastic thread has been ruined or something. So it requires opening up the gearbox and replacing. doesn't look like the trackday gods are smiling down on me thats for sure. Cheers, Chris.

Excellent, I've just texted this to steve, thank you!! God I hope this fixes it, and god I hope i make the SIDC day this sat I've missed the last two trackdays and a summers scoobying because of this silly palava

Thanks guys, two approaches I'll get onto now C.
-
Yea the sensor has been swapped (though who knows if this one works, really) How would I check that john? ...Or, how would steve check that
-
ah, haha.. Well, Andy Forrest and Steve Whitson have been conflabbing about it this week and he had no idea what to do.. mind you I'm not sure if a code check has been done yet..
-
The clocks showed in Mph fine before, now after deleting the delimiter and fitting an ebay one similar to what you described (item no 120446038867) it should still read in mph, but needle's dead so don't know. I guess it would read in Kph if I deleted the delimiter too!??!? so your car reads in kph and is limited to 113mph then, is that correct? Thanks!
-
Thanks john me too do you mean the speedo head/cluster thingy? Was it not just the older imprezas that had a speedo cable? my cluster only has the 3 green plugs into it.. throttle back? what on earth do you mean?? lol.
-
Yeah thats right, the CEL comes on and the fuel cuts and car enters limpo modo. I think the original kph converter is deleted, assuming its the same unit as the delimiter, a maplin looking box with a switch on it. THIS was fitted to replace it. There's every chance the kph converter is somewhere else I suppose. I presume if the delimiter is deleted, the car won't get to 120mph on Knockhills straight anymore? Cheers

I posted this in General too, hope thats ok with mods.. Help! Car is a JDM 99 WRX that had factory fitted cruise control, a funny delimiter with a strange switch, a ‘WRX-RA’ ecu, and lots of extras. The symptoms of the problem were the speedo needle was jumping up to 30ish mph when the car came to a halt, or after engine being switched on. Then the speedo ceased reading speed whilst in motion, and it still jumped around occasionally. The car goes into limp mode after any high boost, I suppose because the speedo isn’t giving information to the ecu, which is why it needs fixed! Paid up trackday on Saturday so I need to get it fixed v soon First I tried changing the speedo sensor, no difference. Then changed the speedo binacle, no difference. Then tried a mates ECU: no difference. Now Its in bits at SW Motorsport having changed the delimiter to simpler one, deleted all traces of cruise control, and STILL no difference. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?? I’ve tried searches but my keyword choices must be lacking.. Thanks, Any help hugely appreciated! Chris.

Just dropped mine in to SW ... for, em, work.. of some description. cheers for the shot of your ecu frank. though its a shame that wisnae the solution. Good luck with the mystery chaps Cheers, Chris.
