  1. remaps aren't aproblem at MOT time, the CAT will be although you can get 100Cel sports cats that give you the performance and pops and bangs but not sure about flames. you want pops and bangs the mapper and map in a bit of over run for you
  2. there is no requirement for a remap with the bigger intercooler on, as suggested you will just take slightly longer to spool, not a massiv edifference though. The Full De-cat Exhaust SHOULD be mapped or though and you are running a risk by not having it mapped. If you accelerate HARD does the car bounce back in all gears, the giant pop sounds like it is just chucking a shed load of fuel out of the back. In theory you could be hitting fuel cut depending on what else has been done, please tell me you don't have a bleed valve?! I think Fuel cut o nthe Std car is 1.27Bar, so with the De-cat and larger intercool coupled with the colder weather the car will be running higher boost than normal! There is also a possibilty that your changes have altered more than you think and the ECU is trimming itself back to stop itself from lunching the internals but that wouldn't come in the for of bangs etc.
  3. Glad the problem has stopped but it will no doubt come back if you haven't done anything to correct it LOL The 93WRX's will show the handbreak sign when the pads are low just so you know for future
  4. I would like to know how he is getting 320bhp? the Exhaust still has the CAT in and no mention of a remap which is bad because he has the induction kit on the car. The Rear spolier doesn't look like an STI7 rear spolier either, it looks more like an STI6 spoiler with the 1" flick at the back. By all means go and have a look mate but be very maticulous with your checking.
  5. Sell all three and buy an RB320 and a d reg fiesta to potter around in LOL The nugs are he way forward, jgm will work wanders on that
  6. The sTI TMIC is good for 400bhp probably a little more, if you are not going for over this figure defo consider one, Front mounts are a royal pain in the a*** to fit (I fitted one a few days ago).... Well actually no that's a lie, the FMIC is a doddle to fit if you get the right kit, it's the kitting of the bumper that is a complete TW@ of a job!
  7. Welcome matey, you made a wise choice..... Evo's are for people that want to drive at warp10 but have no driving talent, stupid AYC!! Subaru's are for people that like to drive As stated, because the car is standard it is well within it's tollerances, Warm it up and cool it down EVERYTIME, no matter what is happening around you i.e. late for something (don't be tempted) First purchase gauges!!! Launching that car will only lead to one thing.... New clutch at best or at worste Gear box! Don't drive the car like a pansy mate, grab it by the scruff of the neck and find out what it is all about, tis by far the best way to learn what your car is capable of, it won't break... unless you fall off the road!!! I think the Imprezas are classed somewhat as sprint cars, they're are not barn stormers so don't think you can sit at high MPH for a long period of time, this is when the trouble will start as charge temps go throuhh the roof and you WILL blow the engine to pieces, this goes for track days as well, don't sit at 130+mph for long periods of time, design flaws etc with intercooler being on the top! Last words of advice, if you are going to change something and unsure no matter how small, ask on here first and do things properly, simple things that people get away with on other cars aren't tollerated by the Impreza i.e. Fitting an induction kit without remap, putting straight through exhaust on without remap... it will end in tears
  8. Depends what other mods you have on the car mate, if you have no mods don't bother with the remap, the cost of the map far outways the gain! There's no hard and fast rule for power gains as ALL the cars are different and react differently to different kit, you could have two identical cars with the same mods etc and the power output would be different!
  9. As the old man said, the HT Auto's 22B kit is a quality piece of kit and all the other pieces they sell are quality bits of kit so you can't go wrong! you would need to do something with your wheels as well if you put that kit on as the car looks daft with wide arches and the wheels sitting 6" insisde them LOL Good luck with this !
  10. it is more than possible but it is a complete ball ache and you are better off just buying an STI i nthe first instance mate !
  11. I'll PM you my mobile number and I'll come get you out of the ditch you end up in with these tyres on !
  12. PLastic Fantastic.... not to keen myself, looks like one of the horribly modded DC5 front ends.
  13. Eagle F1's are awsome as are Falken 452's, used these on my P1, Bugeye and Evo7 and they are great!
  14. It's all much of a muchness, If people are experiencing problems with tesco fuel they would have probably experienced the same problem at the same time if they had filled up with V-power.... The only real difference between the two fuels is the additives...... As in V-power has more of them for cleaning purposes etc. I had my P1 mapped on Tesco99, but prior to having the map diags were run on the car and the advance multiplier was at 16 (best it can be) so the car was clearly happy with the fuel, after the map with just an exhaust change the car was running a very happy 331bhp. I now use Tesco and V-power in my Bug with TSL333 pack on and there is zero difference between the two. Tesco 99 fuel really is a good fuel, avoid anything else other than V-power and Tesco.
  15. How the hell do you crash an Evo? the car is so boring it practically drives itself? :S
  16. doubtful that it's a broken piston, it would run really bad, car would feel s**** all the time and the noise from a broken piston would be a constant factor, not jsut when you let off the loud peddal. I blew my frist impreza up and that sounded awful for 10seconds and then stopped itself, wouldn't run after that! a diagnostic check would tell you any other fault codes, doubt it will tell you a piston is on it's way out..... best bet if you are worried about pistons is compression check!
  17. Hello fella not sure I can tell you what to do if you have checked for all the usual stuff! Does the car rattle a LOT on cold startup ?? Is it a WRX or STI ? (it will rattle a little if an STI as it has Forge internals) Is the rattle the same sort of rythm every time? or is it fast/slower each time etc? If it was a something seriously bad the rattle would be there all the time and it would get faster as you go faster, not just when you let off the gas.
  18. My old WRX had a pocket in it but it came from Japan like that.... Give Grade A subaru (breakers) a call and see if they have anything in mate
  19. Provided you're not running an induction kit I could help you buddy, I'm in Cambridge and running an STI7 with a perfectly working MAF
  20. I asked the wife for a pass to come to my first Cambs meet and she reminded me that I am off snowboarding (she is also my PA as well as pass keeper)... I will defo be up for the next one, have fun peeps
  21. If you don't like the questions sell the impreza and buy a girls car.... a clio 1.2 or something in a pretty colour with a CD player LOL Alternatively, spin the question on it's head and ask them why on earth they think a woman can't own an impreza in their sexiest stereotypical little world....... Watch them skuttle off
  22. Anything that gives you a better picture of what the car is doing and how it is behaving is certainly a good idea as the early you catch a potential problem the less damage you are likely to do, it's far better to be pro-active than re-active, I have boost, oil pressure, oil temp and Knocklink. Oil pressure for obvious reasons, oil temp is always good so you know when it is safe to give the car a little bit of stick and a boost gauge to let you know the car is pulling properly and also to make sure you don't come on boost before the car has warmed up, you'd be suprised how early the turbo spools and actually starts to work, I certinaly was with the VF35 on my STI, it's almost to the point of, if you are going forward the car is making positive boost LOL turbo timer...... Not really of use, I have one in my car but that's just because it was there when I bought it and yes I do let the car run on it, but I also don't give the car any stick for the last 5-10mins of a drive, just bimble home.
  23. In comparison to an RX8 any impreza is going to make you feel like you've just been kicked in the gutts based o nthe way they deliver the power. Why are you going for a WRX just out of curiosity? why not plump for an STI? Alternatively, if you really want to feel like you've been battered Sell the RX8, and buy a classic Impreza RA and pocket the cash for fuel
