  1. It works both way's, I got battered by a micra with bucket seats and coilovers think it was a 1.0 on a roundabout... My nova 2.0 just understeer'd all over the place, caught him on the straight tho and gave the kid a big thumbs up. Dam nova 2.0l saloons pmsl.
  2. Do itttt... I upgraded to a spraco wheel in my newage. Miles better than the OEM wheel. You will also need to go to Maplins and get a 3.3Ohm resistor, make sure you disconnect the battery before taking the wheel off. Oh and dont take the Bolt out fully as it needs a bit of a yank to pull it off. And you dont wana be hitting yourself in the face with a steering wheel now do you. Newage but you get the idea:
  3. Just wait till you come across a nova with the c20let that'll scare ya and make you think twice about racing any nova or corsa for that matter lol find one off track that handles well 15k on an Astra coupe is a bit excessive but the z20let is a very tunable little fella, the "it looks like a newer calibra" made me laugh as ive always thought the same, and the calibra were only good for one thing. And that was to donate the engines for nova/corsa etc conversions
  4. not sure if its a good or bad idea...But disconnect the Tracker for a few days and see if that is the cause of the problem... Process of elimination and all that.
  5. I've always used Cobra Suzuka's in the clio valver/williams/xsara VTS and a cobra evolution in the clio 172 with 3" 4 pointharnesse's Using aircraft style latch. I've never had any safety issues or problems But i will say that correct fitment would be for the two rear straps to be level with your back/harness slots. This is to reduce the chance of Snapping your back on an impact. This is from reading many various things on the net but... Ive always crossed them and put them down into the original seat belt mounts as they have a support welded in place under the car. You dont need to have a rollcage to fit harnesses, but you may need to weld a bar inline on or around the turrets. The best way to fit the seat would be to buy the seat mounting kit from any motorsport outlet, get this welded in place and then bolt the side mount to that. I've however used Box section with a square plate welded at each end *pretty mucht the same as the stuff you can buy* and welded that into the floor pan. Dead easy if your handy with a welder, if not.... take it to a garage and get them to tac it all up check everything is all lined up and whala get them to stitch or seam weld them in.
  6. Ouhhhhh i soooooo want to get to the ring at somepoint..
  7. cheers for all the replys and warm welcomes..
  8. I think the "im scared" comes from years of listening to the bull****e you get which surrounds a lot of cars, Until you actually own one you never really understand the in's out, strengths weakness of them. I've always heard about the pistons being weak tbh, but... Im not dumb and aware that the problem will lie more to how the car is modifed, driven and then cared for. Whacking the boost up and cheaping out on mods without the correct remap will eventually kill them, same as not letting the things warm up, cool down blah blah... Its all just hype and being a new owner it kinda sucks you in a little bit but, after a while of driving, reading and speaking to Actual impreza owners you know whats what etc Also buying the car was cash saved up and worked for (and i bloody graft), so a few weeks ago it was a case of ouhhhh its 5k which i had in my hand and now its on the car and i dont want to killll it That however has gone out the window after a few weeks of ownership.
  9. I really hope so JT i really do. As said it needs a few quid throwing at it to get it up to its best i think, and a few track days thrown in for good measure. Im not going to castle coombe tho, as i have a fair few mates in TB'd novas which are doing below and around 1.20's
  10. lol, Yeah the tyres are a massive thing tbh mate I cant bring myself to bin them at the moment as they are nearly new but some cheap nastys Maxxis at the front and some cheapys at the rear. But i will be getting a set of GSD3 Goodyears on there as soon as i can which will improve the car vastly... I am enjoying it which is the most important bit and getting to grips with the car rather quickly. Oh first mod is going to be a 320mm steering wheel Its like driving a bus lol.
  11. Tbh mate, I have to disagree with the slowing right down for the bends in any of the clios, xsaras i've owned... However with the Xe (2.0) nova's i would as they didnt like corners at all. The clio 172 and williams were designed to perform well on B roads, corners are there main strength. They are a lot lighter with a better power to weight ratio and are a lot more chuckable than the newage Blobeye wrx. I've also found the car to be very restrictive, it feels like it really wants to put more out but cant seem to the exhaust system and air box must be fairly restrictive. Im not too sure if i'll keep hold of the wrx and play with it, or part ex it with a blobeye STI, Saving up a further 4k seems a bit of a longshot and i would enjoy the car more if i can play with it tbh. Thats where im at after a few weeks of wrx ownership, The car still has a lot more to offer but it needs some money throwing into it.
  12. To be honest scoo, This is the sorta club ive been after. I've looked and joined a few clubs since having the scoob and well... a lot of it seems to be show and shine kinda stuff. The runs out sound like the sorta stuff i was used to with the cliosport boys which was always a good blast out. I want to get to trax this year so i may join up and buy some tickets threw the club. But i doubt the scoob will be anything special lol.
  13. Cheers for the heads up Fella's... I had to giggle at wheelspins and do-nuts... thats certainly not my forte. I never give it a full on launch tbh, always pull away smoothly and then open it up, The lift off is the same as with anything french tbh lift and your gone . I think i'll get a track day booked in a short while just so i can explore the grip limits and how the car reacts when being pushed. Im gently building my confidence in the car slowly i was always worried about the engine side going pop as at this moment in time i cannot afford to replace/repair it as yet. Im only bothered as when i bought the clio williams within a week or so of getting to grips with the car the cambelt snapped, then the alt decided to snap a bolt and finally the bottom end bearing died went on it. I think i only had the car about three months i did manage a good few B road runs Evo triangle, Lakes, and rivvington etc and also a track day at donnington. Different car mind but once bitten.... things always play in the back of your mind.
  14. Well its the SIDC and im new so here goes.. First off Howdy do Im certainly very new to the SIDC and only owned my newage Blobeye Wrx for a few weeks but im not really getting on with it too well. I come from a background of Stripped out clio's, 2.0 nova's, xsara Vts etc so the scooby is nice, comfy but im scraed of driving it, I was talking to a few guys from car planet in warrington about buying either an evo or a scoob. I took out a 300ish brake evo 5 yeah it was alright, got the bugger sideways on a roundabout on the test drive which shocked me but hated the interior and the running costs really put me off. So I went for a AWD 225brake wrx with the intention of playing and upgrading. Anyways, While chatting to the guys there they were saying the subaru engines can be pretty tame and not really take the abuse, Now i used to drive very hard and in my clio 172 i've certainly outdriven two newage wrx's but i want to know... Will the subaru engines take a bit of a battering. As i've never owned a scooby im still learning the way they drive react etc. I also drive this thing like an absolute pansy at the moment. Its totally 100% standard, i always let it warm up and cool down properly. It also has a full subaru history im just scared of breaking the bugger as im a little bit skint after buying it lol. Sorry for any spelling and grammer im tired
