  1. My car came with a Secure lock on the gearbox (secures the gearstick in neutral). Always use it when i park up away from home. I'm guessing it works well enough i bought the car from Newcastle and not much is safe down there! I have thought about getting a steering wheel lock but never got round to it, my car lives in a secure compound most of the time so i haven't seen a need. With my wench living in Westhill, Aberdeen i might have to invest in one!
  2. Nice one Pete. What's being planned then??? Big thanks to Al for everything he's done and all the help he dishes out. See you on Sunday in sunny Keith..... just need to sort the car out first!
  3. Hope it sounds as good as it looks Tommo....
  4. I've seen a black scooby (think it's a blobeye though) in the Elgin area with silver rally decals on it. Looks good, makes a change from an all black car. But i would say that cos my car has all the rally decals on it as well.
  5. Cheers for that one, left an e-mail last night and they called this morning. £541 fully comp, protected no-claims and like for like on mods. Cheaper than last year and easy to sort out. Thumbs up from me.
  6. The search continues...... 1 company wanted me to fit a tracker, another 2 won't insure the car because of the exhaust. One of them wanted to see a receipt from when it was bought and fitted and a readout from a rolling road to see if it had increased the BHP of the car.... The fact it was fitted when i bought the car didn't seem to be getting through to the call centre wench. Hopefully it'll get sorted in the next few days as the insurance runs out next sunday. Think a call to Keith Michaels could be in order.
  7. There's a place in Nairn you can take it. Bitz Motor Sport they build and race subaru rally cars and really know their stuff, it's where mine goes for any work and they have a really good reputation. Give Dave a call... http://www.bitzmotorsport.com/
  8. It's that joyous time of year again and i've never quotes as wild and wide as i've been receiving this year. They go from £380 to over £2500. For the last year i've been with M&S and they can't insure me this year as the car is modified - exactly the same as it was last year, a magnex cat back exhaust! Apparently their underwriters don't want to touch modified cars due all the claims they've had with the bad winter........ Cos thats the fault of modified cars! It just makes me wonder where some the quotes come from i've got 9+ years protected no-claims and i'm 38..... The search continues..
  9. OOOOOOH me to! There's a few scoobs on this place.
  10. Welcome in advance. There are a good number of us round here and Al (ScoUK, SIDC regional organiser) trys to sort out get togethers when he can. Lossie isn't a bad place to be i was there for 3 years myself certainly better than some of the places i've lived......
  11. Just like any motor check for blue smoke on start up or when you drive it (possibly a blown turbo). Check for knocks and whines from the driveshafts and diffs. If like you say it's been cherished there should hopefully be no problems. Go to the FAQ section on the site there's a buyers guide in there. Good luck and welcome to the world of scooby ownership. It won't be long before your local garage has a restraining order out on you for stalking the forecourt.
  12. The docks Couldn't resist that one. Westhill on the outskirts is a nice place as for the rest of it i couldn't say. I'm sure some locals will be along soon. In advance of your arrival, welcome to the north of scotland, great place to live.
  13. Yeah saw it the day it appeared.... what did the guy expect? A discussion on basket weaving!!!!
  14. Welcome to the club mate, nice looking car. Hopefully see ya at the RRallyyeee day in Keith..... I'd sign up cos Peter W won't let you off!!!! Should be a good day last year was and we put the Evo's to shame which was a bonus.
  15. I want this guys job...... £250,000 worth of Impreza and he's paid to drive it! http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideo...es_impreza.html Good write up in the magazine as well.
  16. I've seen a Moray Tints van in Elgin a few times. http://moraytints.com/ Try that....
  17. Looks like it was a good weekend, weather looks like it held off as well. Nice to see Rich has got the Scooby back on the road and a good mix of models on the run. Hopefully i'll make it for the next one.
  18. My new discs and pads are getting ordered early next week form GodSpeed. Grooved discs and Kevelar pads £235 delivered. Mine really needs them now the backs are getting low and the fronts are doing most of the work, had them all glazed over last weekend you could smell them half a mile away!
  19. 18''. I've used GT Tyres in Forres before, they did the Eibach suspension, alloys and yokohama's on my Punto many moons ago. Never visited the Keith shop. Cheers for thw tip off.
  20. Where did you get the Toyo's from Tommo...... My tyres will need replaced in the summer more than likely. Got to keep the options open. Dave
  21. Done
  22. Cheers guys the cars standard so there shouldn't be any problems and i'll still give it a tank full of v-power/Ultimate once a month just for the hell of it. i'll give some 95 a go and see how she runs.
  23. I doubt a strut brace would help that much as the cracks usually appear and grow when you hit bumps etc. It's not so much the flexing of the front of the car it's the soaking up of the surface on our uneven roads. If anything fitting a strutbrace could in theory make it worse.... if the front of the car is to stiff every minor chip could cause a crack to appear and grow when you hit one of the many potholes out there. I replaced 2 screens in 8 months 1 on a BMW then within a week of getting my Scooby it had a crack in it, by the time i replaced it there was 3 cracks in the screen. I just put it all down to the great scientific theory of '**** Happens'!
  24. Cheers guys might save me a few quid.... Local Shell garage usually has 95 for 12p a litre cheaper than V-Power...
  25. Ok guys simple question. Since i bought the scooby (04 Blobeye,WRX, UK car) it's always been filled with BP Ultimate, Shell V-Power or Tesco Super. Here's the question..... With fuel costs going up again can i put normal Unleaded in the tank. I know it'll have an impact on performance but will the car run ok on it. I know JDM cars need to run on 'Super' but my understanding is UK cars will work fine on standard fuel, i've just put the good stuff in cos it give you a little bit more. Cheers in advance.
