  1. No worries see you there. My other 3 points don't count from next Jan should mean some fun in June when the insurance is due for renewal.
  2. I'll be leaving kinloss at about 9 if you're heading through Al.. Feds are on a big speeding drive at the moment... Another 3 points for me this month.. As we know they monitor sites like these on the look out so I'm sure they'll be aware we're heading north this weekend. Should be fun though.
  3. Davey and the guys at Bitz certainly know their stuff. It's where my car goes for servicing and the guys are great. Anyone who builds Impreza rally cars must have an idea what they're doing..... Hopefully you mentioned the fact that you were a SIDC member and got 10% off the labour charge!
  4. Welcome along. I'm across in Kinloss and there's a few scoobs in Moray if you fancy a run out here some time. We're trying to sort some stuff out for the summer, drives, shows, whatever can got out and do really. We even have a facetube page. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Subaru-Impreza-Drivers-Club-Moray-Scoobies/128247750563009 As has been said Bitz in Nairn is the place for servicing round here. Dave and the guys know their stuff and menbers get a 10% discound on their labour rates. The garage should be expanding soon to include new bays for MOT's as well. Hopefully see you around some time
  5. So far this year i've forked out for MOT and new DVD/TV headunit in Jan, Service, new rear speakers and amp wiring kit for the sub thats been in the boot for 2 years in Feb. This month looks like being new front brake clipers as one of the pistons is seized. Need that sorted before the fling.
  6. Think you need to raise a work ticket. Think it's accessible from the home page or main forum page. Then the geeks will sort it for ya!
  7. Strange it's in the for sale section rules on Scoobynet.... i checked before i posted. Computers eh!
  8. Yup, on scoobynet you either have to be a full member or have 'for sale' membership. Either way you have to pay to sell stuff......
  9. ok, as someone who voted in the committee election and completed the survey i'll have a little say. I was one of the members who raised the point about member benefits in the survey. All members had was one extra thread (and it was mainly full of 'hi i'm ..... i've just paid up' threads) and true grip. At the time membership was £35 and being up here in the frozen north there aren't a lot of places where the members discount is available - unless you are willing to drive for hours which is pointless. Scoobynet and .net both have the same rule about members only being able to post in for sale/wanted sections. I know from discussions with ScoUK and ScoobyDoom before the committee vote took place that there were issues with funding the club and the guys who were up for committee posts had plans to sort this. Hopefully these changes will encourage long standing users of the forum to become full members. From what i've read and been told there will be more coming out after the AGM and hopefully the way forward will be clear for everyone. My membership is up in about 7 days and will be getting renewed. I want to see this club grow, not disappear in petty squabbles.
  10. Vulcanising is heating the rubber up so it'll probably be a new skin on the inside thats near enough melted into place, instead of gluing a rubber bung in the hole.
  11. Hi, welcome, check the usual stuff..... service history, should have been done every 9,000 miles though some guys do the oil every 4,500 miles, cam belt should have been changed at 50,000 miles. Receipts for any mods that have been done. Chek the MOT's for mileage each year to make sure things add up. Apart from that it's the usual, hopefully the engine will be cold when you get there so you can check for blue smoke on start up. Give it a good test drive, don't go over 3250rpm till it's fully warmed up, after that give it a bootfull and check for smoke in the rear view mirror. The shocks on these cars tend to knock and that either means a rebuild or new shocks. Check in Scoobypedia there's a buyers guide in there.... it's the one i used when i got my 54 plate WRX.
  12. Sounds like the permanent supply to the clock has gone so it's only powered with the ignition on.... like the stereo should be! The stereo usually has a fuse either internal or in a pod on the power lead. If splicing the camera in tried to draw too much current that could have gone.. all i can think of at the moment
  13. Sounds like whatever you've plumbed in is draining the power for the stereo so it won't power up and it's effecting the clock as well. Weird one, what gizmo have you spliced into the loom?
  14. Nice car....... One of those could possibly be my next car. As for the dealership. Never heard anyone say anything good about them. There have been loads of threads about them on ScoobyNet, i think there was one last week. Nothing positive was said from what i read. Best bet, is to have a damn good look at it, if you can get it checked out by an independant garage or main dealer if possible.
  15. I was planning on removing the rally graphics off mine and replacing them with 'cobra stripes' with their signatures on.... It seemed to up the value of the car more than any other mod. Having second thoughts now though!
  16. Room booked in the Norseman.... Just need to tell the ex-wife i'm not having the kids that weekend now!
  17. Can't understand how they can't have a big difference in insurance quotes? The Blobeye WRX has 225 BHP The Bug STI has about 280 BHP and the PPP uprated the suspension and engine map to give even more power! At the end of the day it's what you feel is the better car. The STI will be quicker, corner better and worse on MPG. Not that the WRX is a bad car.
  18. The looks for one!!! Owning a Blobeye WRX i'd say get one of them but i'd have to try the STI out. Performance wise the STI is a step up from the WRX but i can't really complain about mine, it's quick enough. Nothing against the bug eye but for me they just remind me of the ford Scorpio and that was a hateful motor.
  19. They do seem it, i had a couple of minor sideways moments at the weekend. Think it's all the salt and crap on the roads with a little bit of moisture.
  20. Has to be said i'm looking forward to this. It'll be my first one as i've either been working or on call for the last 2 years. Should be fun, leaving the kids with the ex-wife and might be bringing the wench - if she can find enough calms to stop herslef throwing up !
  21. Finally got round to installing a new head unit. 7'' TV/DVD thing. Next month service, new mats and the sub will get wired in!
  22. Simple, pop out the cup holder and undo the screws holding it in and it just slides out. Now you can get hold of the facia and pop it out from the top, it's just held in with clips and comes off easily. undo the plug for the heater controls and the stereo is is removed by undoing the screws that hold it in place(about 6 philips if i remember correctly). It can be done in under 5 minutes....
  23. No idea on the engine side of things but the paint question i can answer... I've used the good old Airfix Matt Black paint for the horn and hidden bits before, even painted a set of wiper arms in it. Never had any problems with using it and it's easy to touch up, comes in small pots and is cheap!
  24. It does look good, like what they've done to it. I'd have that over the cosworth version any day. Link nicked for the Moray Scoobys Facetube page as well
  25. I think the last option looks best. Keep it WR Blue with the stickers.... It'll be different and looks good
