  1. Must be like getting a new car.... Looking good. Whats next on the hit list then.... flocked dash?
  2. Lookin good Al, good choice.
  3. the stuff is supposed to be easy to use, bit of heat and allegdly it goes on easy..
  4. Another option is the 3M carbon wrap. Could look good! http://www.carbonology.com/
  5. Welcome, i thought i'd seen and heard new Scooby floating round the camp area. Mines the stickered up blob-eye parked down by the old folks home. Might bump into you sometime for a chat.
  6. Cheers mate, i can easily do myself i was just being a bit lazy. I contacted the fitters today and have been given a date of 16th April...... (could change if they hire a new fitter). Pathetic really for an advertised in-store facility, so i've fired an e-mail of complaint to Halfords as they advertised a service that isn't actually available. I just have to wait up to 5 days for the customer services department to do something about it. I'm not holding my breath though. Lesson learned i think, unfortunately there aren't really any other options up here just Halfords or the net!
  7. i can do it myself no problem it just hacked me off a bit. Why have the option for in store fitting if they can't bloody do it!
  8. Might still happen after i call them tomorrow to see what they say. Wonder if Halfords will give me the £20 back i've paid to have them installed....?
  9. Project ICE for my WRX began today i went on line and checked the local Halfords had the speakers in i wanted a set of Vibe SEK60 components. They were in stock so i reserved them and ticked the box for in store fitting which is anoth £20. I'd do it myself but i have limited tools and no space to do it. This afternoon i got a call from the store saying 'we don't do in store fitting for speakers, we give you a voucher and you book it through a company we use'. When i went to collect the speakers tonight i was told it could take 2-4 weeks to get them fitted - the place is closed till 8:30 tomorrow and i won't find out till then when it can be done. two things are winding up on this one..... Why advertise In Store fitting if it isn't available...... and a possible 2-4 weeks wait to get the speakers fitted.... Has anyone had any experience of this with Halfords before, just seems to be taking the p*** a bit! I'm thinking again about getting the new head unit from them now, i was going to sort that at the weekend.... Could be time to search the net again. Then all i'll need to do is wire in the sub and it'll be job done.
  10. The insurance is only valid if your driving to a garage either for the MOT or to have work done on the car i do belive! I can't complain with the place i use in Elgin, great service and they send the reminder out. Thumbs up to J.G Wishart.
  11. I've used an independant garage for years and they send a reminder. When i went in to book the Scooby in for it's first MOT since i bought it he thought i was six months late cos they'd sent out the reminder for my last car. Just depends on the garage i suppose.
  12. Been reading up on ScoobyNet and 6X9s in the parcel shelf is a bit of a biatch to sort. The boot mechanism and centre seatbelt reel get in way. Plus it means cutting the metal out to fit them unless you go for a full stealth shelf install. I'll scope out Halfrauds at the weekend and look on the net, Focal 6500 with corsa adaptors seems to be the popular choice! Then it's do i fit them (limited tools but i can get a jet in the air with nothing more than a Leatherman) or go for a pro-intsallation
  13. Cheers Al, i've looked on line there's some half decent deals out there i was just wondering if there was a decent store in the area.... I'll check out the place in Inverurie i think. Brakes first (front and rear discs and pads) then Ice i think. Just found this place too http://www.raysmith.co.uk/ Doesn't look too bad. Just need to do a search on the speaker sizes now and see what i can get for front and back.
  14. Simple question, being in the Forres/Elgin area is there anywhere (apart from bloody Halfrods) in the area that does stereo's? I'm thinking about going down the in dash TV route and would like a decent choice. Having been back in the area for 2 1/2 years now i can't remeber anyone mentioning a decent shop for ICE. I am prepared to head to Inverness or Aberdeen for a decent shop i've looked on line and nothing came up!
  15. Cheers grant it's a thought.... Probably more than wanted really. I just want a decent set up on the car i'm not really after new caliper's just some discs and pads. it's worth a thought though!
  16. I've got up to £1200 if i need it but as it's not thrashed of taken on track that'd be silly money to spend on brakes. I was always planning on uprating the pads at least i just wasn't sure if uprating the discs is worth it. How about what Kenny?
  17. Ok, i had my car serviced recently and i need new discs and pads for the rear and the front discs are on the way out too. So i intend to replace all the discs and pads at the same time. Question is what is reccommended. The cars a Blobeye WRX and it doesn't really get thrashed but that could change with decent brakes so what does everyone suggest. Rough prices would help..... Cheers everyone in advance
  18. Top fun, i had a play on a nice empty airfield just after new year. The kids were hacked off when the snow went cos i could'nt play anymore. Hopefully there'll be some more snow this week.
  19. I plan to Rich...... for about a fortnight before your cars back on the road!
  20. It's looking good Rich it might be sorted by the time i get some time on the airfield sorted!
  21. The cheque's in the post! It's just run out i forgot all about it..
  22. Job done this morning. £205 for the engine, gearbox and diff oils, including fully synthetic oil for the gearbox at £10 a litre. Also included a full check of the car, wheel balance and brake inspection (some more work needed there), tyre pressures, coolant and brake fluid checked, all locks and hinges lube'd. Oh and SIDC members get a discount on labour costs. Can't be faulted. I'll be back.
  23. After talking to Dave last year i figured he knew what he was doing. Carl at work says he'd trust him to do anything and i haven't heard anyone say anything but good things about him and Bitz. All sounds good and easier than a trip to AWD in Perth. Just need pay day to roll on by before i visit..... Even an oil change ain't cheap on a scooby.
  24. They're still working on the murtaya according to my work mate it's being built around an old rally car chassis and the plan is to use it in the Scottish Tarmac rally series. Should be rather quick. Didn't we get an agreement on a discount off them, i can't remeber what was agreed? My service is about 2,000 miles overdue but it just breezed through the MOT and it had the brakes and coolant done at the last service when i bought it, so i'll do the air/pollen filters and let them do the oil's. It is due the 60,000 but it had new brakes and fluid and the coolant was changed when they did the timing belt so i don't see the point in getting it all done again. I'll let you know how it goes.
