How Much Power Can You Run On A Standard Uk Turbo Block?
Joe G replied to Joe G's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Car has at present, simtek ecu with twin maps, antilag and launch control, full decat afterburner exhaust system with stainless headers and matched up pipe, K&N panel filter (resinator removed), walbro fuel pump, NGK PFR7B plugs, as engine mods. Not sure if i will need to uprate the intercooler too before the next map?? Got a prodrive 3 port boost solenoid to fit prior to mapping to stabilise the boost. So shopping list is 440/550cc injectors and a new turbo so far. Any other ideas? Ciaranrb5 how much you looking for, for the VF23? And what sort of condition is it in? And most importantly will it fit directly onto a 1998 uk turbo (as i know this model varied slightly) Cheers Joe -
How Much Power Can You Run On A Standard Uk Turbo Block?

The engine has been very well maintained with full service history and extra services inbetween. Probably looking to go about 330bhp (ish) so would only need 550cc injectors and a TD05/16g and a map tweak from andy to get it there. -

Cheers! I thought i had heard 350 from somewhere, just so i know what turbo to go for. Thinking td05/16g and keep it at a sensible 330ish for a while until the forging begins. Then the fun will start!! -
Seeing as i no longer have the spec c and took a p/x on it with a uk turbo. Just wondering what sort of power you can run these at on the standard internals without a big bang?? The car already has andy forrest stage 1 remap with a simtek ecu and launch control and running approx 280bhp. Exedy clutch with wrx/sti gearbox and diff. Got the modding bug again so plan is to up the power Obviously i will not be going mad with the power on standard internals, just wondering what power is safe (350bhp ish???) Cheers Joe

I had an astra vxr tailgate me on the way to halfords in aberdeen yesterday! Any closer and he would have been in my boot! Pulled into the car park where he also pulled in. Got out the car and heard a voice from the astra say 'nice turbo lookalike! Shame you couldn't pull away from me! I know its a lookalike as it doesn't sound like a proper scooby'.(40mph zone) My reply was 'turbo lookalike? U really dont have a clue do you!haha! Learn how to drive u fkin pr**k!' Went into halfords got a few bits and bobs, came back out to find him reving his engine haha! 'want a race he shouted'...... 'nah dont want 2embarrass you and all your mates!' needless to say he followed me back to the ferry terminal! If the spec c wasnt sold id have taken him out the twisties and pushed him past his limits till he ended up in a field! Sometimes you just have to laugh!! Haha

If things don't go as planned and everything is taking too long try these guys www.helphire.co.uk . I used them when a third party hit my car a few years ago. They paid for my car to get fixed, gave me a hire car to use while the repair was being done and i had my car back within a week. They did all the dirty work and recovered their costs with the other persons insurance. All for the cost of £10!! May be worth a look.

Try Gav on 07770805706. I know he has done a few alarms on here including mine. He will travel to you too. Top knotch bloke, good service and good prices too. He fitted my alarm 2 years ago in braehead carpark. Worth a call. Joe

Had a similar problem with my last classic. Fuel pump didnt prime then next time it would prime no probs. Ended up sourcing the problem to the connector block under the rear bench where the power wires go to the fuel pump. Connector was loose.

Yeah think it must be a mistake on their part. I wasn't complaining though, paid the £245 and just waiting for the new tax disc to arrive.

Probably a mistake on their part but i aint complaining

My car was imported and registered in March 2008 so therefore was put in the higher tax bracket. The logbook stated that it was just an Impreza STI. I contacted the DVLA and told them that it was a spec c and as there were no emmisions data for the spec c they couldn't throw it in the higher bracket. Well thats what i can gather from the whole thing anyway.

Thats pretty steep!!!!

I got my renewal through a few days ago. Im 26 with 9years no claims. With elephant for the past 6 years and they have always been the cheapest i could find. Insurance last year was £635 for the spec c but this year with no changes to the policy, claims or convictions they have increased to £795??? I called them up and they said it was to do with the fact that the postecode i say at (isle of bute) The traffic density has increased which means there is more chance of you having an accident. I nearly pissed myself laughing. Bigges load of bull i have ever heard. They wont budge on the price either. Gonna give keith michaels and A-plan a shout on monday!

Had problems with the tax of the scoob the last time i taxed it. They wanted £405 quid and i argued the fact with them that the tax shouldnt be that much. Renewal is in and now only £245 for 12 months!! RESULT!!

I bought my spec c 2 years ago and clocked up nearly 20k miles in that time, All motorway either running up to Aberdeen or down to Newcastle. Which puts my milage to nearly 60k i think. Milage would only be a problem in my eyes if the car hasnt been looked after properly and had regular services and oil changes. One of my mate has just bought a 2005 blob sti with 92000on the clock and you couldn't fault the car. P.S my spec c may be for sale shortly
