  1. I think they look great mate! Really really good. Where did you get them from?
  2. I know the road well, and as you said at that time of day it's full! Even when it's quiet overtaking is not really an option - so the speed of the car in front is your speed... so what's the point in behaving like he did?? People like that amaze me... Sometimes I dab the brakes and then boot it for a few yards to get a gap, sometimes I put the rear fog light on, and sometimes I make sure they can see me and give them the bird! Many an otherwise calm drive has been spoiled by people like that, when there's not a chance to get out their way by booting it.
  3. Stunning car mate, can't beat black when it's clean and tidy.
  4. Jeeso mate... you don't mess around do you!! Looks great, nice one.
  5. Absolutely awesome! Well pleased that he smashed the 9 seconds. Well done Andy.
  6. Punted my fiances 206 with them and got a decent price for it. My mate has also just had a Clio 197 valued with them at a very good price. There's an office in Hillington. Maybe not the best place for cherished cars like some of the scoobs on here though, never going to get top money. When I was in the guy had just bought a low mileage Series Mcrae for £1800.
  7. A sad day... as is every day without Colin still in the world. I've never until now missed somebody that I never met or knew personally.. Found myself on a nice piece of road in the scooby yesterday, absolutely flying along a good bit faster than usual... then remembered what day it was, so that's my tribute 2 years on.
  8. I've bought a car from them and used them for some servicing and they were quite good. I also asked them to give my 2nd STI that i'd just bought privately a good look over and they very quite thorough so fine there. NOT the cheapest for parts (in my experience) specifically suspension struts and brake discs which I had done a lot cheaper at another main dealer in central scotland. Can't really fault them to be honest, but it's not who I use now. Primarily because the "other dealer" that I tried was better, so that's where I go. Mark.
  9. That's a cracking looking type-r mate. Not seen any like that before, and I love that front splitter in black. Is it a Jun?
  10. Nice one Stoo. It certainly makes a difference to the car eh! Would also be interested in hearing about switchable anti-lag and launch control.. What have you heard about it? Cheers.
  11. Congratulations mate.
  12. Lovely looking car mate, just the ticket!
  13. You go out and drive the car while he maps it Stoo. he's got a laptop and all the gear connected and you just do what he tells you.
  14. Stoo get yourself a Meercat 100 cell downpipe. That's what I have, and it's a big difference over the standard DP. Have a look on the Meercat website at the difference in size between the OE downpipe and the snakehead - it speaks for itself. Big difference in noise as well. I can hear the turbo spooling up and the standard dump valve opening very clearly. It's well worth it in my opinion, and will get you the best out your remap. Cheers.
  15. Nice one mate, car looks nice.. plenty advice available on here, won't take long to learn!
  16. That's a beauty mate..
  17. The other problem is that with the car at a standstill in the workshop there is very little real load on the engine (therefore less boost) and any problems MAY not be so evident. A rolling road would be better for diagnosing. But as Iain said, something that big would be obvious - and on a relatively young and un-modified car seems unlikely.. But you never know. and 2 psi boost (for all intents and purposes) = nothing!!
  18. Trust me I was running out of patience with that one! At least 2 trips to Ayr, and at least 2 trips to Falkirk - where Charlie suggested that Cockburns auto electrics along the road would be the boys, and they were.. But even they were ready to give up. Luckily I was away in Nigeria (if that can be called lucky!!) and they persevered and succeeded eventually. Mine wasn't a warranty job unfortunately! but it had only done about 28k miles. Had big alternator problems as well around the same time, nightmare! Have you had the engine bay cleaned at all? It's a strange problem, but if it's only making 2 PSI boost then the turbo must be getting strangled somehow, or the wastegate/dump valve is stuck open. If the exhaust side is ok then the boost air HAS to be going somewhere!
  19. I had a check engine light problem on my last blobeye. It threw up codes for things that were fine, and went to several different dealers several different times and nothing was found. Ended up in an auto electricians and they found an earth fault in a multi-plug.. but only because I'd had to go back to work and left the car with them for 4 weeks and they kept going back to it.. ended up over £400 for labour alone, and that was just the place that found the fault.. Not slagging the dealers at all, but sometimes these things can be simple but VERY hard to find. Even for people that really know what they are doing. Good luck..
  20. This is nothing to do with me, but...... here here..
  21. 1996 Ford Escort 1.3 Encore.... ....which I rolled end over end on the approach to Stoneymollan roundabout, and finished upside down in the middle of the road.. can't win them all!!!
  22. Hi mate, not sure of a proper answer to your problem.. but if I was you I would phone around a few of the engine builders etc. and ask them what they think. Aside from that there will be plenty on here that can also tell you what you need to know, so be patient and I'm sure they'll be along soon! Cheers, Mark
  23. Will do dude.. but.............. How will I know they are talking about your car? Does it have any distinguishing features??
  24. That's just exactly where I grew up in that photo! I know who owns most of those boats, and my old man has a shed about 10 yards behind your car there!! No way you could've passed through there with a car like that without anyone noticing, so I'll probably be hearing all about you being spotted when I get home this week! Nice one mate, can't deny it's a nice part of the country eh!! Hope you didn't meet too many of the locals though!!!
  25. Each to their own mate. Everyone is different and uses their car in different ways. I've had three newage STIs and have had them for several years now. How long have you had yours to give it a proper chance? But as I said, each to their own, and if it's not for you then fair play.
