  1. But you're off boost etc for a second or so when you're changing anyway, and you're saying the fuel is always injected because the ECU thinks it's needed and it can't measure from the MAF because the air comes in after it... so basically with the re-circ type the same thing will happen but the mixture won't be as rich and won't breakdown the oil film on the liners or deposit in the exhaust system....??? Yah? What about turbo lag? More with the re-circ or with the atmospheric valve?
  2. More lag from the atmospheric dump valve???
  3. Fitted a Bailey DV12 dump valve to the 03 uk sti, obviously it dumps to atmosphere, but the standard valve re-circs back to the intake..... Now I would have thought that the re-circ (standard valve) would be more efficent as its blasting air back into the intake and should give that little added push when you're changing gear... (If you're booting it obviously..) Can anyone enlighten me?
  4. Nothing good is going to come of it if the pr### comes up, so get your mate to blankly tell him that it's a waste of time, the money is spent, and maybe a swift F___ OFF might speak his language.. Might be an idea just to inform the cops just in case anything does happen then at least they'll be keener to do something.. Pretty bad situation though dude, i'm not really saying much everyone hasn't already but hope it works out.. Scum of the earth people like that..
  5. Tried ECU explorer today to check a fault code and reset my ECU to clear it.. Got the thing up and running succesfully but the trouble code reader wouldn't show up any fault, both panes for current and historical faults were blank??? There is clearly a fault but it's not showing up.. Then reset the ECU and it worked for a few seconds when i started the car and then the light came back on... Original fault i had diagnosed at the dealer was a low alternator circuit (P0058 maybe) but it's charging fine.. Also on the live feed in the "alternator duty" column, the reading sits at 0% until i put on the heated screen and then goes to 100%, i'm assuming this is part of the 'smart alternator' i've heard of, and only charges when an extra load is imparted on it... This is doing my head in, anyone recommend a miracle worker to sort this out?
  6. Cheers for that mate! Appreciate it, nearly cracked up this morning when i tried to get it, because i'd also been on it a couple of weeks ago and looked at it all but not my computer so just waited till i got home from sea to download it......and then this carry on!! Cheers anyway dude, you seem to be well on the ball with this stuff..
  7. Same here I got mine today.. Was $91 with the 2 reflash connectors, and then shipping took it up to about $110ish, and i had to pay parcelforce another £23, but got here fine and was a very good service from Taxtrix, plenty e-mails with despatch details etc..
  8. Fair enough i'll give you that one... It is a monday after all!!
  9. Not sure what you mean by that, so if it's cheek it's wasted cause it's gone right over my head....
  10. Tried that mate, says i'm not authorized to view or download it..... any ideas why?
  11. Does anyone know where I can get ECU explorer or similar for reading and resetting my ECU to clear a fault code. I've tried Tari but the site can't be found, and none of the links from Scoobypedia work anymore.. Just been and picked up my OBDII cable and now I can't find a program to use it!! nightmare......
  12. Spotted a GB270 yesterday, not far from the Erskine bridge sliproad, heading into Dumbarton.. It was stopped in a layby with a recovery truck with the light on in front, and a cop car with lights on behind it.. and of course the cops standing beside the car... Didn't see any damage so thought it was a bit strange, surely not a breakdown!!!! If the driver is reading this hope it was nothing serious!! I was the one in the black sti honking away on the horn in the opposite carriageway heading in the other direction!! Absolute beauty of a car by the way, stands out well with that front end..
  13. "You and your Subaru Impreza turbo" book is a good place to start, also this site.. The rest comes from years of fanatical obsession and boring everyone around you stupid with facts and figures.. Not sure anyone knows everything about every model, there are too many, and that's why they're so great!! Enjoy...
  14. "But still don't think it's worthy of the Impreza name" Spot on mate, think that's what i'm worried about... The un-educated will see the new model, compare it with the likes of a Focus, and then put us all in the same bracket.. when we're clearly a long way from that ****e......
  15. R.I.P. Colin Mcrae The moment I passed a Series Mcrae on the road as a youngster was the moment I knew what I wanted to drive as an adult, i'll never forget that moment, and its the reason I drive a Subaru.. Legend.
