The inevitable thread but is only but once a year..... What mods are on the shopping wish list for 2010 ? Reckon mine will be : Upgrading the brakes (well they need fixed so why not improve!!) Some whiteline goodies ...and following on from the last two years ( ) , if I can ever get the cash together, 340bhp !!!

I don't really know a huge amount about the waterless wash type of product but I think when you use it is key. If it's at a time when your car should be bucket & mitt (no sponges allowed!!) washed then you'll likely just scratch the paintwork. I think you spray a panel of your car with a waterless car wash formula, let it sit for a few seconds, and then wipe off. Would make me a little nervous. From what I've read about it it is basically explained in that there are 2 types of dirt that can end up on your car - dust and everything else. Waterless Wash I believe is made for more for the dust end of dirt (if that makes sense??).

I guess some kind of legal/citizens advise ?? Have you had a read though the insurance docs you would've received at the start of the year, see if there's any reference about it all in there ? Wonder though how it would have been IF you had had a claim and they found out you were over the mileage limit, would they have paid out then !!?

I have an 04 WRX with prodrive springs and 18's. When I had the springs fitted I got the wheels at the same time. I also had Dunc at Hypertech check the geometry, which was just as well as it was out. If you've had that done don't think you'll have any issue. If not consider it. I also have a front splitter on so my car so can no longer visit multi-storey shopping car parks - it's just another plus !! As said, sure the experts will be along some time soon. This is just my experience of it.

Did you ask if that was "just" for the bodywork repairs ?? Just that the smoke and rattle seems worth investigating for couple reasons 1. as they may be adding in mechanical work also (not sure if where it is does that work though??) and 2. that does not sound good at all. As you say, £6.5k for some panels doesn't sound right. Hope it turns out okay in the end, i.e. you get it fixed and get to keep it.

As much as I'd like K-sport the bank isn't for breaking (or is that braking....oh, see what I did there ) on that piece of kit. The SNet Godspeed buy, I can't help but feel wary at that price for the pair, but the guy does have a good name so reckon they'd decent?? Suggestions on pads to compliment the grooved discs then ? I know it is personal opinion but that's really what I'm after - good ones and ones to avoid. Am I right in saying you should really buy new pads when replacing discs ?

Welcome. Good to see your liking the car. Get a pic or two on.

Must be the festive spirit coming out - good humour lads !! You two are in cahoots - like I didn't expect it !! Thanks for the advice. Trying not to sway one way or the other but I get the feeling sometimes that what I have on at mo just isn't stopping quick enough, maybe I expect too much from them, or maybe the pistons are making them underperform - argh, I don't know. I might just buy a big anchor and through it out when want to stop quick ??

At the moment have the standard 4pots the Newage WRX is given. I have OEM discs and uprated pads. The 4pots will soon however need a refurb - pistons to be exact. Now just found out these + kit aren't cheap, and if getting one piston done might as well get them all done !! I would like to, hopefully one day, upgrade my WRX with STi performance parts to bring the car up to 330-340bhp mark. The dilemma. Do I : - leave the 4pots on and get refurbed (are these sufficient for the higher bhp ?) - source some 2nd hand Brembos (seems to be about £300-£500 with discs/pads - is that right ??. And would it just be fronts I needed??) - would love the K-sport ones on gb on snet but at £850 budget miles off !! Appreciate advice/pointers from those in the know ! (Kenny - sorry you're not allowed to reply )

Nice advert Barry In fairness it is a decent backbox, and Barry is a trusting sole ! Are the exhaust sections on the sti ppp not all decat, but okay yes perhaps the backbox could do with a change. Downpipe sportscat ?? If thinking of moving to a bigger width would it be worthwhile changing £wise ?? Panel filters something like Green or K&N.

Does Someone Else Want To Tell This Guy - Or Shall I?
C_WRX replied to rallyfever's topic in Scottish Scoobies
£65k, really !! Did that including insurance costs for a 17 year old in that build price. -
Hats (yes the red one with the bobble ) off to the folks that organise and turn out for such an event. The lady who took the time to say thank you in the post a few up goes to show the brilliant effect this has on the kids that are in Yorkhill - even one smile makes it worth while, although I guess there were quite a few !! Well done folks, and it looks like the Subaru owners had a good time too.

Short version of the story, honest. Got speaking with BJM recently and he asked if I could help him out detailing his car. He noted that he took good care of his car, washing it up to twice a week, but wanted it back to the showroom look (well even showroom cars have plenty of marks - but you know what I mean !!). Met up, then the worry set in, how was I going to get it looking better than he already kept it. It was very clean already! ! After a long chat he explained he wanted it as good as could get in a set amount of time I had. So, a few weeks later, the car is dropped off. I said don't bother washing it as I'll do that anyway : Fair do's, roads are filthy at the moment (this actually doesn't make it look too bad )... I am aware that many looking here aren't really bothered of the pics of what happened in between, so not adding any, but a fair few hours of washing / claying / machining / protecting took place to leave one shiney very white coloured ... wait for it.... nearly there.... Full shot, finally. ...and so it isn't all me me me, BJM had previously been working his own abilities (rather impressively if I do say so) under the bonnet Good meeting you BJM, hope you like some of the pics. Disclaimer : Excuse my picture taking, I need to work out how I am so bad at using a camera !! The car actually, I think, looked even better in the metal, maybe the poor light ??!

Sold a silver one of them before getting the Scoob. Enjoyed my time with it - wife hated though as ALWAYS wheel span in 1st gear in the rain and felt very embarrassed when people turned round to look - gave me plenty of laughs ! Actually liked the different gearstick position.
-
Nice choice Mike. Nearly bought the wife an A4 avant couple years back (nowhere near that long spec) but opted for a more affordable choice - bit of a soft spot for them for some reason and that's a crackin example you have there. Normally two blacks cars is just asking for "keepin them looking good" trouble...but think man of your abilities on that front will do fine !!
-
Ahhhh, I remember when mine used to look like that - lasted about 2 weeks before it "changed" ! Excellent choice of colour (bias!). Enjoy.

Getting nervous huh ! I've not had this stage upgrade done but i have looked in to it indepth. Reckon the quality and fitting of the parts would be the main reliabilty concern - if they're good and you're using a garage that knows what they are doing then bar a possible minor small tweak (garage or mapper should advise)should be okay. As per the remap if it is AndyF then you're in very good hands there. The power going in to your car for gearbox/clutch is fine. Unless you drive it hard everywhere or track it frequently should be okay. It's the next turbo stage up (e.g. TD05-20g) that would be more of an issue for a WRX box.

Some choices are : An STi up-pipe Harvey Smith http://www.geocities.com/harveysmith3000/ (where I got mine from heat wrapped) Gus The Bus's friend

After 3 Subarus And 5+ Years In The Sidc....
C_WRX replied to ~ ~ Cal ~~'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
It's a very nice choice Cal, although if the current mpg is as good as it gets it's going to be costly to run - mind you, like Subaru running is cheap !! Again, many thanks for all your help way back when I first got mine, your advice was a huge help ! -
Auction Prize For Santa Cruise - Andy Forrest Performance

On behalf of badbaz (Barry) who is having issues connecting in at moment and asked me to assist.... £140 -
Welcome. Get involved, ask your questions, and answer some too. Get some pics on as well. Probably agree with Ritchie, go with the exhaust flow. Not same model but I have 2004 WRX and have done the full exhaust thing (plus couple of little other things) then had a remap and am sitting at about 280. You don't have to have the whole thing changed at once, and remapped but only to a point, if the budget doesn't fit just now and can be done in stages to let a modest little number of ponies free and let it rev a wee bit free'er. Panel filter is low cost one?? Handling is a good place to go too, ARB/DL's/ALK/....still with me !!? Don't ingore the brakes but at this power you should be okay. If/when the time comes (wear and tear) to change then consider as a minimum upgrading the pads. You may just be realising that all this possible change ain't cheap !!

A whole £3.00 for me !! Question though, I did as the bonus points slip said each month but nothing shows up on my Bonus points line on the statement, should I be complaining or is it just added on the Transactions line ?
-
That's an excellent help link G.Mac to a common newbies question. Well done that man !

Used to be Gus the Bus was a master at detango'ing, not sure if he still assists ?? Not sure about the blacking them inside, seen it done once and seemed a right pain in the $£&e ! Did look nice though. Guy was soon after selling them, as was selling the car, and wanted a lot of cash for them to equal the effort gone in to it...unless he made it sound tougher than it really was to enhance the value ! As for the glass, depending on just how bad they are, it should be possible to tidy them up with a machine polisher and the right bodywork polish....fairly sure there are a few folks round the Stirling and Falkirk area (your general direction think??) that have the equipment. Perhaps get the rears done at some time??

Some nice cars and pics getting shown - good idea BJM. Afraid I can't do arty farty ones so just my poor picture taking abilities. Should've cleaned it first Think I've posted some of these before from summer time clean up.
