I'd say about 8am at B&Q car-park in Elgin. That should give us plenty time to get organised and head through to Inverness for 9:30... Maybe a bit early for some, but just think of the guys heading up from central belt in the morning

Highland Trip Saturday Night Eating Arrangements

LOL! I guess they will be closing the doors to anyone else that night Nice one! -
I recently stuck a GFB Stealth FX valve onto my bugeye.. Got it for much cheapness 2nd hand (To hell with the £300rrp!!) Ideally wanted a valve that was recirc and adjustable for pressure, this one fitted the bill exactly.. Opinions.. Well if you stickign one on a standard car, it's just chav and will have no benefits to the car.. If you are runnign more than standard boost i'm runnign 1.3bar peak, from std 0.9, then I would reccomend an aftermarket valve.. I know loads of people have said the standard one is fine for increased boost. I thought so too, but after fitting the GFB I disagree. I "felt" before hand that the std one was letting air past while on the higher boost.. could hear the air passing through it high boost while on throttle.. But with the GFB, set correctly, I don't get that.. infact I get a really solid wall of boost withotu fade.. Also very little drop off in boost between quick gear changes.. before there are any comments, no I don't believe it's all in my head.. had it fitted for a couple of weeks now and car generally feels better when on boost. BTW - My bov does have "chav" settings, but it's set to recirc as it's just plain safer.. And I still get the feignt "whoosh" noise on lift off as the air is plumbed back into the intake due to the slightly wider piston.. So summarise.. if you you (or anyone reading this) wan't a VTA BOV for whooshy sounds.. Don't! Not for the fact it's considred "chav" by many but because it can actually harm you engien over time.. That whoosh sound comes from air escaping which is normally passed back into the intake as metered. The ECU carefully applies the correct level of air/fuel at any fiven time.. If you remove some of that air by VTA you get a very rich point oin lift off.. This can be a very shot time frame but it does mean a wad of fuel is shoved into the engine and can pass through unburnt and cause backfiring (which can sound cool on some cars) but most importantly some of the fuel will remain in the cylinders unburnt.. And petrol/oil don't mix very well.. Over time the unburnt fuel will start to wash out the cylinders and dramatically reduce the effect of the oil which can cause you all sorts of problems. IF a VTA valve is fitted, make sure oil is changed regularly to keep it clean... end of of the day VTA costs more whatever way you look at it.. in saying that I've not personally heard of a engine go bang as a result of a VTA... As mentioned above, Forge recirc seems to be the one reccomended these days.. It's safe because it plumbs the air back into the intake like hte standard valve but also larger internal piston can give you a slightly louder whoosh sound over standard of the air passing back through the pipework.. . o O (Yoiks! that reply was a bit longer than expected )

Welcome! I'm sure I've seen that car before... Good to see it's still going around!

Ditch the wheels.. But hte rest looks nice! Wish someone woudl come up with somethinng suitable for hte rear end though... not sure that's possible as a re-moulding would be necessary IMHO..

yeah need to get a CCTV in operation sign plastered onto the car Couple of other thoughts about it... By bro was tellign me there was a product on the gadget show the other weeks showing a mini camera/recorder which attached to the rear view mirror or something.. And kept a rolling 20 second recording.. So if you notice an "incident" you can push the button and it woudl save the last 20seconds of video for later use.. Also activated in the event of impact! Almost like a mini black box recorder in a sense. Something which may be worth looking into in teh future! Other thing on the incar security idea.. I have motion detection software on my home pc which will automatically record when a camera detects movement! How about a mini camera in the dashboard recording the drivers face or even movement around the car! Downside of all this is that it'll need a computer to run it all and for this level of security the battery life would be limited and ultimately drain the cars battery if left on for a while... If you wanted to be completely daft, you could potentially add a 3G USB card to the system and have it automatically uploading video to a secure place online! Soo many possibilities.... TBH - I have no idea where this little project is going to end up.. It started off as an idea of having a permanent ECU datalogger in the car for digital gauges on the display and maybe a media center for music/video (Fast&Furious films have a lot to answer for).. Works in testing but havent got roung to make it a permenent fixture of the car, need to get a computer set-up somewhere... Software was still a bit too buggy for my liking...

Yeah.. nasty incident at the weekend where two bikers were killed after a collision with another car between Grantown and Tomintoul.. Really sad thing is, I believe it was an organised run by local Moray bikers group... Don't know any further details of the incident at the moment.. Keep it safe out there guys n' gals! Not sure about VASCAR but should be able to bolt on ANPR in the future.. Now I just need to hack into the DVLA database .. (just kidding!)

Not sure.. But yeah probably not that great.. THe camera I've got for the front is better quality but only just, I wouldn't expect bulletcam quality TBH.. I just bought a couple cheapos just now as a "prototype" for testing.. Once all the wiring is done and everything set-up an upgrade should be straight forward!

LOL! I spotted that too! I agree about it not beign "technical" enough... Expected more..

Had plans for this for ages.. Finally got round to installing it.. Power currently tied to the reversing lamps so it's only enabled when reversing.. Also, assuming I get the time to set things up and wire up the car accordingly, may even be able to record the footage! Additionally looking to add another front facing camera and have a switch on the center console to switch them on/off manually.. Hoping to get that set-up before the Highland and Island Fling No guarantees though... Note the stripeyness is just the photo, the screen looks clear: Not the prettyest looking thing I admit, but never mind... Sample Video Footage: Camera also has a built in light sensor that automatically switches on a set of IR LED's for night time (yet to be tested on the car) P.s. Anyone got a spare front Fog-light switch off a newage kicking around they don't need?

IMHO.. It could have been better.. I know lack of plot and all that.. I quite liked the 1st and 2nd onces.. But tokyo drift was more of a bad spin off.. This one, I like the return to the origonal cast.. Film starts off well.. But after about 1/2 way starts to fade off... Much preferred the daylight footage in F&F2 than the darkness nightime stuff in this one.. Oh and only about 10mins of Scooby footage at the end of the film.. Not really a leading role... Also that paint job doesn't really do it much good.. IMHO.. Still worth a watch.. But don't expect to be blown away by eany means..

Nice one! Best to make the most of hte nice weather Diffuser was fairly easy to fit... It's a good fit but felt two of the wholes weren't quite in the right place do drilled a coupl extras... Really need another set of hands for fittign though.. Expect to get a few scraped finger tryign to get the nuts on.. Was cussing and swearing the whole time but is worth it! Finishes off the back of the car nicely! Claybar - Previous i used Meguars quick clay pack.. But got plenty of detailing spray and just needed a claybar so went for "Sonus Green Ultra Fine Detailing Clay" Soflyter compound to the quik clay but probably a better option given the car's usualyl kept pretty clean.. Mote piccies from today.. since the sun is out again! Good depth of colour here: Get a nice range of effects using the Blackfire stuff! Colour depth, clarity and reflection all in one shot! And back to the reflections... keep note of how much lack of shine there is on the ka in teh background.. (Currently getting re-sprayed.. slowly) Roof:

Thanks guys! Manged to do that all on friday.. Nornally takes a whole weekend! Although still need to clean up the wheels, mud flaps and interior...Finally got myself a proper foam lance a few weeks back.. Can't stop playign with the damn thing.. It's like spraying the car with white paint the way it comes out! I've foudn the poorboys stuff really nice to work with.. Smells nice too It's not too harsh, but enough to safety remove swirl marks and water marks at a safe rate (using the machine). THe finish you get from it is very good, but always prefer to go over again with some sort of finishing polish just to get the best from it before wax. Someday I'll have to get myself a paint depth gauge just to be safe.... Havent tried the Blackfire Detailing spray yet.. I'm using Meguars Last Touch Spray Detailer at the moment, which gives a really nice glaze between watshes! Fortunately there wasn't much swirly bits this time round.. Gave the car a more intensive going over at the start of last year to remove the swirls using the same sort of stuff.. Went overkill and even removed the rear spoiler to get to the swirls last year: This year.. Discovered that the Maguiars G220 wont fit under the rear wing so had to do the boot lid by hand this time round.. Still after last yers session, not much was needed.. And incase anyone is interested, I get my cleanign products from Polished Bliss and EliteCarCare SIDC members get a discount with EliteCarCare.. Both really nice folk to deal with, always happy to help with advice and getting the right product for your needs.. (no I'm not on commission...) P.s. Yes that is a frog on the back parcel shelf... Old workmate of mine insisted I put it there for some reason.. P.P.s. Need to get some decent arty farty shots of the car sometime... Need to get some local group shots too... LOL! Let's face it that Series McRae looks superb regardless of how clean it is!

Thats really sweet! Another vote for hawkeyes! (despite owning a bug) Nice crisp finish there

Started with a colour change! Clayed: This was the muck from the bottom half of one of the doors Polished using Meguars G220 polisher, SSR2.5 and Meguars Deep Gloss polish Oh look! Fluffy clouds! Piccie of straight down on the bonnet! Count he stone chips! Finished article: Red Rear mirror: Still got the Gathering Sticker attached Doesn't really show any skiny bits but included it as thought it was a nice angle of the car: Cut-Down process: 1) Foamed 2) Washed 3) Clayed 4) Washed again 5) Machine polished with Poorboys SSr2.5 then Meguars Deep Gloss (Ran out of Blackfire Polish and forgot to order more ) 6) Topped off with Blackfire Midnight Sun Wax Also tidied up the black plastic trim bits in the middle somewhere with AutoGlyms bumper cleaning stuff (can't remember the exact name, "green gloop") Still need to give the wheels a proper going over at somepoint and the engine bay could be doing with a good going over at somepoint .. Just like the mods... Detailing never ends

It's probably normal then.. It doesn't move much, just a tiny bit... Just more used to struts being pretty secure.. Had a look around a scrappy's today at other cars and it seems a few manufacturers now use that method! Seems iffy to me...

Tidy! An all counts! Nice cars on show there! Gave mine it's annual spring clean yesterday... Soooooooo many stonechips

Good News mate! Eep! I'm in the middle of ressurecting a 1996 Ka2 as a every day car to keep the crappy miles off the scoob.. Seemed like a good idea until putting the front suspension back together yesterday and realising there's not much holdign it in! It "appears" as though the top strut mount moves around a bit when you turn the wheel! I "think" that's the way it supposed to be but seems bloody dangerous! Need to have a look at another Ka just to confirm!

Now THAT's what I'm talkin about!!! it's already on the mod shopping list... Shame no where local fits them.. -
There's the run to skye at the start of May but I'd be up for a mini-meet over cullen way!
-
In the middle of giving mine a good clean just now. and the amount of bloody chips that's appeared all over the car is criminal! No additional dings though!

Anyone Else Still Sporting A Gathering Sticker ...
scouk replied to dram300's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Mines still on the back window! I would remove it and stick on the smaller one but it was "internal use only" and doesn't work too well with the tinted windows.. My brother had his on the top of the front windscreen and had to take it off just a few days ago because it was starting to get ripped by the wipers -

Nice one! -
I'll probably get locked up for this. but if the Police wont or more likely can't do anythign about it due to lack of evidence e.t.c.. Then I totally agree vigilante is the way to go! Get our own network of survelence going and strart tracking the location of vehicles as much as possible.. Even better if we track any of the suckers down get a blacked out van with baseball bats!!! P.s. If any of you police-ey peopel read this.. No offence to you, I have a lot of respect for the work you guys do.. But how are we supposed to just "accept" these thigns are happenign to good honest owners of motorvehicles? I'm all for police help.. But if for whatever reason that's not good enough to track down the criminals and we are expected just to sit back and let criminals get away with these crimes while WE pay the price every time!.. Sod! that.. Action must be taken!!!!!! The more they get away with it, the more it's goign to happen! Its needs to be stopped!!! IMHO!
