  1. As above the cooling down reffers to letting the engine run so that coolant and oil keep getting pumped through the turbo to prevent the bearings cooking. The engine itself will probably get hotter at tick over, I know mine does. So having yours inside shoulnt make any difference.
  2. Pretty sure there is a Jap 555 version. As 555 used to be the main sponsor of SWRT hence the whole blue and yellow/gold theme.
  3. Cat temp light? Didn't realise there was one.... Are you sure its not the ECU check engine light?
  4. With regards to customs there should be no issues but you will almost certainly get charged VAT and a handling fee for something so large so factor that into the cost.
  5. Just a thought but when one of my gauges went dicky it was a bad earth to the sensor body. I tapped a new earth and it fixed the problem.
  6. Unfortunately this is a weak spot as the bumber mount is just the edge of the folded panel. I would imaging the proper way to fix it would be to fabricate a new backet and have it welded inside the arch...
  7. As above the last run of classics (Version 6) were 1999-2000. They had much nicer interiors with better seats, momo steering wheel, nicer less plasticy inside. There was a small increase in power (not very much more but every little counts). The front brakes were four pot calipers like the STI rather then the previous two pot. The lights are crystal clear rather then frosted which makes the car look a bit more modern. As for newer cars, the advantages I can see are a slightly more comfortable ride, less noise, modern looks, more modern interior which looks less dated, stiffer chassis. Power is the same and I think the newer cars are heavier and have a bit less sensation of speed. As has already been said, unmodified cars are out there. I live near a beautifull Mica blue which is 100% standard from the 10 years ago it rolled out of the factory. Mine was also standard 4 years ago when I brought it. Don't compromise be picky.
  8. Lol my after burner back box gets so black on the inside I now keep it black and only shine the outside.
  9. I know how that feels.... kerbed both my front wheels now after a year of having them... well pissed off. Keep meaning to get it sorted but something else always swallows the money.
  10. I have probably had five or six people say things along the lines of "nice car", "sounds good" etc in four years of scooby ownership. Lots of glances and pointing kids. Once had a kid and his dad taking a photo of it. Unfortunately classics don't seem to demand so much attention any more (perhaps as they look a bit dated) but still get a knowing look from those who are in the know. I think the sound is what gets me the most attention.
  11. Don't go down the car bra route... I always think it looks like a gimp mask for cars... You keep the car looking good by making it look even worse then a stone chipped bonnet lol. Sorry I have no idea about the film but it sounds interesting.
  12. My god thats the worst scooby arch I have ever seen! How on earth did anybody let it get that bad.
  13. I have read that standard headers that have been ported and wrapped are pretty good and should be nice and strong. Most of these cheap stainless ones seem crap. I am sure if you went for an expensive set made by a well known japanese tuning company they would be reliable... but expensive.
  14. Hi Laura, I am after the centre heater vents in the dash board. One of the adjustable slats in mine has snapped. Let me know if you have them.
  15. I agree, maybe if it was a change from top mount to front mount then yes as its big change but the sti top mount is not going to require a remap. Maybe it would benefit from it latter on but you dont want to be spending £700 for a tiny adjustment to the map which is going to make no difference. Have a chat with scooby clinic if in doubt.
  16. Small amount of white spirit on the remaining goo and then proper window cleaning spary afterwards.
  17. " (Please note the subframe will need modifying slightly to make fit the new shape)" Sounds odd... I have heard quite a few horror stories about cheapo headers.
  18. All good But my advice is don't rely on it for laser detection. Yes it has the fixed cameras covered, yes it knows most of the mobile van locations but when it comes to a Police Officer in a random location by the time it warns you its probably too late. The speed guns work very quickly.
  19. As above Jap performance mag found some good gains with pannel filters depending on make. I don't think you will notice the difference in BHP alone but it all helps and adds up.
  20. You will want to do the pair mate not just one. KYB make cheap shockers for Imprezas that are supposed to be OE spec.
  21. Generally I think (and i could be wrong) that a larger capacity can give you gains in low down torque but wont be as revy.
  22. Where did you get bilstien gas shocks from for your scooby? I wanted to go down that route with bilstein gas shocks and white line or eibach springs but bilstein dont list impreza dampers at all in their line up. I am now looking at KYB shocks...
  23. If it really works I would be very carefull that you don't wreck your engine. I would have thought it would be very easy to do when playing within the ECU.
  24. If it has had an ECUTEK remap then its been put on a rolling road and the original ECU has been plugged into a laptop where a mapper has adjusted various settings to get more power and compensate for the mods. Unless you have a graph printout then there is no way of working out the power other then getting it on a rolling road again where they will estimate it for you. Or ask the person you brought it from. If its just the above mods then perhaps 260-270bhp as a very rough guess.
