  1. I know its a cheaper item but i paid £300 for a painted STI6 spoiler from scooby world and the fit was awfull... had to do some major slotting of my boot to get it to fit... now the paint has started to crack slightly. I complained by email and no response... Not a good way to do business imo.
  2. I think they should name it something other then Impreza.... Its so far from the original. Just leave the Impreza name alone rather then making it a hatch back. Nothing wrong with the new one but if its a hot hatch its just not an Impreza.
  3. I really enjoy the job. Like you say its different at each force and in each station but at ours we get used as back up to Police officers all the time. I am always going on response one jobs such as domestics, and RTC's. As well as doing more mundane things like house to house and neighbourhood watch. Also Burglaries, criminal damage pretty much everything a Police officer does, the main difference is what you do when you get there, basically if its confrontational the Police Officer goes first (as they have the appropriate PPE). I see what your saying about the blue but i belive here the badges were black until the public complained that they couldn't tell the difference hence the bright blue... The worst thing is some forces PCSO cars which they make look rather nasty, luckily we dont have any and just get to drive regualr police cars.
  4. Speaking as a PCSO I have never been mistaken for a traffic warden (Body armour and the words police on the uniform usually give it away) and 95% of the time am mistaken for a Police Officer. I think it greatly depends on the force and in fact individual station but PCSO's do far more then listed on most websites and most are very capable of doing just as good a job as a Police Officer. As for being respected you earn that by being known in your area and by dealing with things effectively. We all know there are nowhere near enough police officers (when you have 2 officers on to cover a town and over 10 villages on a Friday night night) but that isn’t going to change and the PCSO funding has now been cut too so not many new recruits there either. We have to make do with what we have and contrary to some opinions PCSO's are not all wannabe coppers (admittedly some are). Its a different job and I won't be going for Police Officer recruitment any time soon.
  5. I think they are officially 123bhp. A bit underpowered for the size of car, a bit expensive on insurence just as its called "impreza" and a bit thursty for the performance you get, if you ask me but nice looking and great handling.
  6. Chocolate strawberries in Marks and Spencers.... Very nice.
  7. Yeah I was only 21 when i got my scoob (22 now)... One years no claims, clean license, 1 years driving experience £2000 insurence. Worth EVERY penny.
  8. Sparshatts Subaru in Botley told me that there are no UK classics in black... Other then the Catalunya. Sure they are wrong as i swear i have seen some.
  9. Hi, im looking for the in gear acceleration times for a Classic UK Turbo. Or i guess any UK Impreza with around 220bhp. Anybody got an old EVO mag or similar with these times in? Looking for 30-50, 40-60 etc... Cheers, FMJ
  10. Wonder if i have the shortest here.... 1st Peugeot 306 1.8 16v 2nd Impreza Turbo 2000 (MY00) lol thats it anyone have and impreza as a first car? Have also driven Porsche 911 turbo, Merc SLK, Mazda RX8, Single seat formula ford, Unmarked Police Honda 2.4 Accord, Renault Megane 1.6, Mitsibushi Colt 1.1 but only owned the two...
  11. Hi, i did a search but didnt come up with too many results. I am thinking about a remap and would like to find someone i can trust to do it without damaging the car or pushing the limits too far (i still want a bit of a safety line so im not pushing my luck with reliability). Any ideas on people or places that will do a good job for me? I am near Salisbury and some where within 60miles would be good.
  12. Try confused.com for a qoute too. I know their advert is VERY annoying but my insurence is £2000 for a MY2000 Impreza Turbo 21years old, 1 year NCB only driving 1 year which is pretty good...
  13. Hi people, need to do the gearbox and diff oil on my scoob and not having much luck finding the right stuff anywhere locally. Where can i order it from online? I've had a search on google but no decent results. Cheers, FMJ.
  14. Hmmm, will probably still get one as they are fairly cheap (most places are far more expensive and there no gauruntee they will be any better). Ideally i would get a proper one, but they are about £700! Slotting the holes is no problem, is it just a case of removing a small amount of metal or quite a bit? Bit of a shame that they don't fit straight on, as they boast about their spoliers being so much better then ebay specials!
  15. Hi people, I'm looking at getting one of the above from scooby world but the pics don't really make it clear on the difference? I know they are slightly different shapes but its not clear in the pics. Anybody got any clear example pics? Is one higher then the other? Cheers.
  16. Hi people, some of you might remember me being here a few weeks ago saying that i was looking for an impreza, well after seeing a few dogs i got a good one. Acually I got it two weeks ago, but i havebeen in Faliraki which was nice... lol. It a 2000 W reg completely standard with no mods at all. Got 58,000m on the clock with a full subaru service history (so full that it lists every oil change and every time it was taken in due to something creaking). Its imaculate inside and out and im chuffed with it. Just wondering if there is a garage around salisbury who is good with imprezas? Any recomendations? As the nearest subaru garage is miles away in bristol.
  17. Can only really go to £6000 so its a bit out of my price range. Lovely car by the way! Looked at the Green turbo today and it was a dog... Leather was all torn and tatty, every metal surface in the engine was coated in rust, one head lamp had a big chip, off side front tyre was scuffed out all around the edges, all the alloys had started to bubble... £6,000 for that! No chance. Didn't even bother to get the guy to start it up. That was at a subaru dealership as well!
  18. Thanks for the welcome guys. Think an RA (or any import) would cause me insurance probs due to my age (only 21). Have got a qoute for a UK turbo at £1850 thats fully comp, 1 year NCB 1 year driving which is a lot but not bad considering how much of a risk i must look. My first year on the 1.8 16v 306 was £1800 by the time i declared mods. Thanks for all the hints and tips, im going to look at a 1997 uk spec turbo with 72k at £5995 on sunday. Its from a dealership. Only problem is its green and im not too keen on it (no offence to anybody just personal prefence). Probably won't go for it because im so set on blue but it will hopefully give me an idea of what im looking for. Got the auto trader today and theres a P1 for £12,495..... One day maybe.
  19. Hi people, just got confirmation that my pride and joy (a 306 that i have been doing up for the past two years and my first car!) has been written off due to a rear end shunt... (no fault of my own grrrr!) Was looking to get an Impreza at the end of this year anyway but now it looks like i can do it in the next month or so. Anyway, to the point. I would like a classic 97-2000 UK turbo in blue (any blue) with less then 70,000miles on the clock for around £5,000-£6,000. FSH would be a massive bonus. From looking at cars for sale it seems a fairly realisic target, what do you think? Blue seems to be much harder to find a good example of as most of the blue ones I have seen have 100,000miles +. Not been to look at any yet, any advice? (i have done a search so probably know most of it but you never know).
