  1. Lol it pretty much says what I said i promise i didnt read that first lol.
  2. Lol tell me about it, im up there all the time buying things and it takes them ages to work out which monkey has the key. By the way if anybody here works in Halfords, sorry im sure your not all like that! I do have to say I am very impressed with the quality and finish of halfords more expensive stuff. It have a feeling its made by a fairly decent company and then rebranded.
  3. Snap on catalogue Torque Wrenches http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/tools.asp?t...56&store=uk
  4. Depends how serious you are.... Snap-on is VERY good.... however you are looking at £10 for a single spanner and £50 for a small/medium ratchet, £100 for a socket set and £200 for a torque wrench. Worth it if you use tools all the time or for a living but if its only going to be used once or twice a year I wouldn't go for something quite so expensive. It may sound silly but Halfords (despite the appalling staff) do some very good quality tools. Far better then the Draper stuff I have had before. I have a Draper torque wrench that i brought for about £35 and have only ever used about twice. Does the job for me tho.
  5. Did a DB9 a while ago but somehow I don't think his heart was really in it. Its pretty pointless unless you know they are trying their hardest and everyone pushes to a different point even then.
  6. MPG wise I have worked mine out the last 15 tanks of fuel with a mix or town, country roads, traffic jams and putting my foot down. It came to an average of 26mpg. Not bad at all really!
  7. Depends how hard the porsche was trying
  8. Before I had my scooby I had a modded 306 that I had spent about £3000 on bits. I was insured with adrian flux who also do like for like mods covered. When the assesor came he valued my car at £1100 which was actaully lower then book! He said it was because modded cars are worth less. Pretty pissed off with this I proceded to strip everything from the car and left a right mess for the salvage company to pick up. I never had any complaints from them as the assesors report doesnt detail what extra parts were fitted or anything the salvage company were none the wiser. As far as like for like goes I think if you write the car off and the mods are not damaged you just get to take them off and keep them as well as getting the pay out for the car.
  9. Your qoute sounds a little expensive to me... Im 22, clean license, one non fault claim last year, 2 years ncb, been driving 3 years UK Impreza Turbo Grp 17 £1350 fully comp. But then again i live in the country and its a uk model. Have you tried a qoute with a UK turbo to see how much difference it makes? One of the reasons i got a UK model was due to not being able to get insurence under 25 with an import. Last year 21 years old, clean license, one non fault claim, 1 years ncb 2 years driving UK Impreza Turbo £2070 fully comp. So a drop of £700 in 12 months!
  10. Hmmm I have had people a few times see my car and assume i have added fake vents and spoiler and a big exhaust to some rubbish family saloon. Its just their poor car knowledge that means they can't tell the difference between a mondeo with a halfords spoiler and a classic performance car icon. At the end of the day people can think im a boy racer if they like I couldn't care less. I like my car and thats all that really matters, and I always get the backwards second glance from people who know what it is which never fails to make me smile, especially when i see girls do it. As for the driving with the window down, yeah i do that a lot. Windows down stereo off and where's the nearest tunnel []
  11. I saw this on Ebay while looking for a PPP and avoided it as it all sounds far too suspect. Self learning ecu? Hmmmm I know moderen ECU's do adjust slightly and have memory but not to the extent that they can detect and adjust to mods. I wouldn't let it anywhere near my car.
  12. It would be nice but my experience of haynes manuals is that it never covers the year/version you have and they are usually pretty poor at explaining things. I would still buy one tho.
  13. Just for those of your talking about insurance mine was £2100 for fully comp with 1 years ncb at 21 years old with no points, parked on a driveway in a small quiet village.
  14. I was 21 when I got my scoob (my second car) my first was a 1.8 16v 306. Im glad i didnt have anymore power in a way as i span the 306 due to lack of experience. It didnt damage me or the car but made me realise how easy it is to screw up. Saying that the scooby probably wouldnt have spun... All in all, have fun mate good for you getting it and paying for it yourself! and just be safe. Things can go wrong for anybody with any level of experience but in a scooby you do get the feeling you are invincible due to the grip and thats when it all goes wrong and due to the speed and forces involved it tends to go very wrong.
  15. After spending a few hours cleaning the car yesterday and what with the nice weather I went out this afternoon and took some pics. Its nothing new but I like my scooby in its fairly original state All pics are with a camera phone which I think is pretty impressive...
  16. Yep P1 all the way. Its the pinacle of UK Classics plus its limited edition.
  17. Yeah I have found pretty much every Civic Type R will try to race you.... Most vectras seem to try too.... Not sure why it just seems to be the sort of people who buy them. The last Type R that tried to race me I let go in the end, he was willing to push it right up to top speed and I just didnt want to lose my license (or life). I beat him on every bend and roundabout tho I think the most evenly matched cars I have come accross were a Mazda RX8 and a Integra DC5.
  18. If we are talking classics the only UK 2 doors available were the P1 (1000 made with around 280bhp) and a few 22B's. There were 16 offically UK 22B's out of 424 made. The 22B is like the holy grail of scoobys and you won't get one for £8000. The P1 you could probably manage but it wouldnt be the best example. Good ones tend to go for £10,000+ An STI Type R is the other 2 door option but import only. They also had around 280bhp but are very stiff and very short geared meaning its a very focused car designed for smoother japanese roads.... Not for the faint hearted. Then you have your standard STI's WRX's and Uk Turbos. STI's and WRX's also come is RA form which basically means more Rally like with extra performance bits and less creature comforts. £8,000 would get you a VERY good WRX or UK turbo and probably a pretty good STI, maybe even type R.

    Japfest

Thought I would ask here rather then start another thread. I have been to the Japfest for the last two years but at that point I had a Peugeot lol so never had the car on display. If I purchase some tickets via the shop do people tend to meet up first and then drive in together? If so where do people meet and if not where do I need to go to when I get to the track? Cheers, FMJ P.s. I am a paid up member and am coming from Warminster.
  21. Oh dear.... I cant sum up the words to describe how dissapointing that is. Why do they have to change things.... I would say the new Civic Type R looks better then that... I wouldn't be so bothered if they changed the name, thats just not an Impreza.
  22. I remember seeing a pdf on here ages ago from Prodrive giving the improved acceleration times with the classic PPP verses the standard ecu. Has anybody got it? I think i found the original post but the link is now dead. Cheers, FMJ.
