7 years this xmas. My pressi to my self.

I took delivery of my first DSLR last week. The canon 550d. It came with the kit lens (18-55) for less than £500. If you want details pm me. This is the top end camera for entry level. Takes awsum pics and no need to upgrade for some while.

When i 1st joined as a full member back in 2006 it was a great thing to be part of the SIDC, part of driving around and spotting other cars with the sidc sticker in the window. It was great to see no matter where in the country i went and i got about a bit nearly every scoob i saw had one. NOT now. As said before more and more regions have broken away to start there own forums as it is now so easy to do and I am one that done this (sorry) The one thing that i have noticed is that when you joined the sidc you were told that you can save money on this and that. I can tell you something now and thats no matter where you shop for things for the car you will always get a discount. Not one place asks for a membership number or details of the club you belong to. This is not the fault of the club but the fact that companys would rather give you the 10% than lose you to another company. This is right across the board from parts and services to ferry crossings. The only thing non members can't now get is true grip but imho they are not really missing much as most now send stuff into the mainstream mags. A few years ago we had an sidc stand at the nec and the 4 days we were there we were by far the most talked about club there. We were signing up new members left right and centre and even had people from the other side of the world joining. This was when i was the events organiser and it was always a great thing to see over 100 cars at a show. This has changed as well and it is sad to see as well. I don't think this will change untill people start seeing the sidc as the place to be. I think it would be great to see the sidc once again become the main and only club to join but lots needs to be done for this to happen. You never know i may rejoin one day (maybe). Iain

This is not what i call a good start to the NEW way forward for the SIDC. Up untill 2 years ago i was a very happy events organiser and part of a very happy team. The club was a happy place to be and the banter was a regular thing to be seen on the threads. Over the last few years I have seen many regular members/non members dwindle away. One of the best things about the forums was the fact that a thread was able to be left open so that everyone could have there say and put their points across. If this is not going to be the case now i can see more and more people move onto other forums and be able to say their bit there. I remember there was a saying if it aint broke don't try and fix it. Karyn was doing a great job all be it thank less at times and in my eyes there was no reason to have it taken away from her. Fine Phil was stepping down so his boots needed filling but Kaz had no intention on steping down as i understand, so you must be able to see why she is so p***ed off with what has happened. Freedom of speach is always a thing i like to follow and in less than a week you have taken that away. NOT GOOD. Iain

It is a sad day when things go this way. Kaz you have done a fantastic job over the last 6 years and i remember the days and nights the head aches hypos and the sleepless night with worry. I just hope the new guys know what they are letting them selfs in for. Well good luck guys you have big shoes to fill.

Thats correct. They use very heavy duty ratchet straps that can handle more HP than we are guna put out sodont let it worry you lol. Iain
